Kingdom is definitely one of the greatest manga i've ever read, its up there with berserk. It really does suck that the anime was terrible because it would've been published in the US.
Anime is quite bad indeed. Not only it's CG but anime also tries to make Kingdom into a shounen. There are no corpses flying, there are no people split in half etc (and that's really important part that gives realism to the wars) I didn't watch the whole anime for sure but I heard that even in Renpa war, Mougou does not lose his arm for whatever reason... I ask why? Then again, in anime I also always had problem with colour scheme. This might have been the first time that I had such a large problem with this aspect. Still it's not like anime did anything wrong with colors as it based on color pages and such... but truly, when I saw colourful soldiers armours and such it really didn't give me a good feeling. Kingdom works the best in black and white.
Ehhhh. Dudes in armor being split in half isn't quite 'realism' since no weapon is that sharp, but I get what you mean. I've seen all the Kingdom anime (watched anime first), and not only is the arm thing true, Kanki's bag of eyes become bags of heads (which honestly isn't too bad since that by itself is still compelling), and Rinko doesn't get his fingers chopped off in his 2nd fight with Shin. Instead, his left bracer gets grazed, and SOMEHOW that means he can't use his left hand.
diana lucu tokyo ghoul isn't a little bit dirty it's a lot more adult actually especially with the :re series, and what kind of manga do you like by saying you don't like dirty things you basically shut out some of the best line of manga of all time like vagabond, berserk, and vinland saga
Celestial Sapien i think one piece has the advantage of being a shonen and starting far earlier than kingdom even though kingdom quality wise is a lot better than one piece
I want to read it, but I also want to support it as well. Which is mainly why I buy manga. I also like having a collection. It's so tempting to read it online! I tried reading online before and it felt really weird to me. It really sucks waiting for Taizai and TG slowly coming to the states...
so true. i watched the anime, totally absorbed, then read the manga..and i am really doomed..even better. i had never read any manga so slow, just to enjoy every panel to panel, I am totally blown away...
Havent finished the vid, but what all the reviewers forget to mention about this manga is STRATEGY! This show has some insane strategy, and moves that you could never forsee. No joke, I can recall several instences where a giant twist happened.
I have made around 10 fictional wars of kingdom Using my own strategies which I learned from kingdom with those genrels and everything the same I think my top 1 is a parallel coalition war not better but it was on par with the real one :))))) I like this a lot so goddamn addicting :))
I love king because of 3 things: 1. Great Story Line(I love history) 2. Characters Development (Yes, there's so many characters and yet the author always find a way to have a character shines in a certain time. A Great Example is Gen. Mobu's Speech during the coalition war. 3. The Slice of Life, imagine a servant climb his way up to the top? Yep Shin is a little bit of childish sometimes but the thing is he never stops improving. I love Kingdom series and it is my favorite manga of all time. Thanks Chibi for featuring Kingdom.
Have to agree with you on the support. The synopsis was sufficient for me to realise the impressiveness of this series. After binge reading this, all I was left with was a question as to why this great work doesn't get the support it deserves.

Kingdom is so unique in every way from its politics, cultural representation, and most of all the amazing in-depth tactics and strategy that happens in the battles and wars is especially amazing. Also, Ouki is one of the best Manga/Comic Characters ever.
The anime actually got me into Kingdom. Yes the animation was very jarring at times but my god, the story, the characters, it was enough to hold my attention and binge the series. Now I am looking forward to read the manga.

Cesc Fahmi Seinen will always be better than Shounen by a landslide. One Piece is by far the best shounen manga, with exceptions such as HxH and yu yu hakusho.
Thanks for the recommendation! Just finished reading it and it was amazing. However I kept getting the feeling that it was simultaneously VERY repetitive yet enjoyable. Somehow, the 400th face to eye closeup, the 200th "complete each other's thoughts" moment, NEVER GETS OLD!! Also the sheer manliness of all the older generals (now lost, sadly...) is a plus for me.
the first time i picked up kingdom, i was reading it while waiting for physical berserk volumes to come in the mail. I was basically like “well, i guess i can read this while i wait on those berserk volumes” but by the time i got about 150 or so chapters in, i was actually putting berserk on hold because i could not look away from or stop thinking about kingdom. The momentum that this series has is honestly insane. If you thought the first arc was kind of one note and boring then you’re not alone, I thought the same thing and im still not a huge fan of it, but i would plead with anyone who feels this way to keep going with it. Seriously, it is literally impossible to put down when you get properly invested

RaginDXDemon Its one of the best manga I've ever read. In my top 3 along with Berserk & Vagabond. The beginning is pretty damn good, but the true greatness starts off soon afterwards. You should definitely read it bro. Well worth it.
As a Chinese, I love Kindom. It's soooo nice to see the people who often appeared in my early text books to be so nicely written in a manga. Especially Ei Sei, the first emperor king in Chinese history. it's really great to see him finally getting the credits he deserves instead of being misunderstood as a ruthless tyrant.

Ousen is a beast general but as a character he is extremely lacking. He has like 10 lines throughout the 500 chapter long manga! All he ever does is his creepy stare. Hopefully it will improve from now on. Let's see him doing a rally call for the war to come. A proper general needs to do one but I only expect more creepy staring from him.
YES finally Chibi caught up. Im happy you did, it's such a good series. The Anime is not that bad I dont know why people hate it, once you get used to it, its actually good. The voice acting is super good and the music/soundtrack is SO epic, you will love the soundtrack.
If the Kingdom anime would have been great then Kingdom would be at least challenging AOT for number 2 Manga Sales. If it would have looked like Drifters instead of For Kids version of OP then it would have been right up there with the best. And already it's in the Top 5 in Sales and I feel like I barely see anyone talk about it.
Kingdom would destroy AoT not just challenge it. it would challenge OP for 1st place(in time ofc). in 2014 Kingdom sold 2.5 million copies and in 2015 it sky rocket to 8.5 million. it went from 21st place to 5th in 1 year. if it had better anime adaptation it would easily challenge OP for 1st place, and with a little push(before Black Clover anime started in Japan you'd see Black Clover crap everywhere. they don't do such advertise for Kingdom. not even half of that) it could surpass it. lets hope the live action movie will be good(no superpowers, transform into a titan, no mecha, etc, so it can be good like Rurouni Kenshin) and boost it's sales and the manga fights for 2nd place
I completely agree in every point and I also want to add that the panel setup and the art is also exceptional. The artist exploits things like the chapter titles and the page turn so magnificently, that he can create so much suspense, give you goosebumps and even move you to tears. Kingdom has raised the bars for me so much that many of the manga and comics I read afterwards make me feel unsatisfied because I have higher standards than before it. It's a must read for every manga reader.
Matthew Mc Kenna toriko has an arc that easily will be in your top its start slowly at the beginning the manga is ended already ends because of the trash WSJ rushed the mangaka and Toie destroy the anime

Chibi! This is hands down my FAVORITE VIDEO you have posted! I am so freaking happy you are going to finally do Kingdom reviews!! Kingdom is in my top 3 mangas. Once I read 498 I decided it was time to re read it and I am currently at the Coalition army. chapter 301 exactly.
I'm an anime-only watching the Kingdom anime right now. At least thru episode 3, it has been excellent. Maybe those who didn't like it were disappointed in the adaptation. For me, though, all I see is an excellent story well told.
Kingdom is one of best mangas out there and definitely in my top 5. As of right now, on weekly basis, the chapter of kingdom is the chapter I always look forward to the most.
Read it for more than 3 days till its last update and still waiting and i love it far more than any manga that i read....it was just recommended by my cousin and just the 1st chapter i was already addicted..it really frustrate my not finding it sooner
A friend mentioned Kingdom to me a while back, but I only got around to getting into it over the last week or so. Since I actually started by watching the anime, I ended up being pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this manga. I ended up staying up several nights to eventually catch up around 2am this morning. I'm happy to see that Chibi is reviewing this Manga, especially considering how little I can find about it on the Internet.
Started reading kingdom a month ago, and catch up to the latest chapter just after 3 weeks of casually reading on my breaks and offs. For me it's already the best manga i have read storywise, and the writer even uses histroric events that happened in real life to affect his story. Tho the art is mediocre, and it's really poor in the start of the manga tbh but he improves a lot throughout the series, but the story really gets you. It's story just sucks you in it, it's so well written that it looks like it. And pace, no dull moments, just pure action.
Souten Kouro. One more to add to your historical database. Historie, written by the mangaka of Parasyte Innocent by Shinichi Sakamoto. Bloody, unassuming and gorgeous. Vinland Saga. Tag any badass with the name Thor ;)
oh and the sia moment in that fortress and what he did to inspire those men is just wow! I legit cried at his moment as you could see the passion and love he actually had for all his men and the realization that some were going to die but before they would he would give them inspiration to fight to the bitter last and die with there heads held high.
My top five: 1. Berserk 2. Kingdom 3. Tokyo Ghoul 4. Annarasumanara 5. Jojo's Bizarre Adventure I'm still reading Vinland Saga, but it's already awsome, so it will probably be in my top 5 when I catch up.

I'm glad to see you've read Kingdom. I think it's time for you to read the rest of the Young Jump manga, they have excellent series and it hurts to see you not knowing about it. These are the top 3 weekly series on Young Jump that I would recommend to you. 1. Usogui - Usogui is a gambling manga focusing around a MC trying to take over an huge underground organization that referees illegal gambling that may include lives of people. It starts off slow, but overall it's a fucking masterpiece. There's a reason why Usogui and Kingdom are called the 2 top manga of Young Jump. 2. Golden Kamui - This series is a relatively new series, but it's an awesome series that definitely needs recognition along with Usogui and Kingdom. It's an adventure manga revolving around the MC trying to find Ainu gold worth millions of dollars, but it doesn't stop there. It also has Comedy, Action, Romance, and so much more. The series is basically a clusterfuck of genres, and surprisingly, it fits into place. I can't tell you much but you definitely want to check this out as well. 3. Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai - Now usually I wouldn't recommend romcom for other people because I like heavier stories, but this manga is so hilarious I just have to recommend it. The story is about two MCs, a boy and a girl at a super rich school who are in love with each other, but doesn't want to confess it to the other as it would be a declaration of defeat. So they try to make the other confess using various methods, but ultimately fail almost every time because of their pride. Those who read Young Jump are estimating that this manga is going to be acquiring the romcom position in Young Jump, and personally it's definitely worth the read if you want to have a good laugh. These 3 manga are my personal favorite, if you exclude TG and Kingdom. I like Usogui the best out of the 3, but all 3 are great manga and you definitely need to read them. Like so Chibi can see!!

it is not everyday that a manga gets me so hyped that I wish to just spoil myself by reading the raw translations! the only other manga that use to do that to me was berserk!
I kinda have mixed feelings for Kingdom. I haven't read it yet, but once I start reading Berserk more to the point that I'll be fine with taking on ANOTHER manga, then I think I'll start Kingdom. The thing is, my brother and I are huge manga fans, and I've been trying my hardest to get him into Tokyo Ghoul. I know he would like it, but he just made up his mind that it's overrated trash, when it really isn't at all. But he does say Kingdom is amazing, so I can't really say no to it. He might hate Tokyo Ghoul, but he has pretty good taste (e.g. The Flowers of Evil, Berserk, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Parasyte, Gundam, and much more) Anyways, I'll be sure to start Kingdom soon

Not as bad of an adaptation like Berserk. Like really, the two best seinin mangas are being treat like garbage.

If you thought the first arc was kind of one note and boring then you’re not alone, I thought the same thing and im still not a huge fan of it, but i would plead with anyone who feels this way to keep going with it. Seriously, it is literally impossible to put down when you get properly invested

RaginDXDemon Its one of the best manga I've ever read. In my top 3 along with Berserk & Vagabond. The beginning is pretty damn good, but the true greatness starts off soon afterwards. You should definitely read it bro. Well worth it.

As a Chinese, I love Kindom. It's soooo nice to see the people who often appeared in my early text books to be so nicely written in a manga. Especially Ei Sei, the first emperor king in Chinese history. it's really great to see him finally getting the credits he deserves instead of being misunderstood as a ruthless tyrant.

Ousen is a beast general but as a character he is extremely lacking. He has like 10 lines throughout the 500 chapter long manga! All he ever does is his creepy stare.
Hopefully it will improve from now on. Let's see him doing a rally call for the war to come. A proper general needs to do one but I only expect more creepy staring from him.

The anime skipped a ton of important plot and it has almost no blood which makes it totally unrealistic compared to the manga.

YES finally Chibi caught up. Im happy you did, it's such a good series. The Anime is not that bad I dont know why people hate it, once you get used to it, its actually good. The voice acting is super good and the music/soundtrack is SO epic, you will love the soundtrack.
If the Kingdom anime would have been great then Kingdom would be at least challenging AOT for number 2 Manga Sales.
If it would have looked like Drifters instead of For Kids version of OP then it would have been right up there with the best.
And already it's in the Top 5 in Sales and I feel like I barely see anyone talk about it.
Kingdom would destroy AoT not just challenge it. it would challenge OP for 1st place(in time ofc). in 2014 Kingdom sold 2.5 million copies and in 2015 it sky rocket to 8.5 million. it went from 21st place to 5th in 1 year. if it had better anime adaptation it would easily challenge OP for 1st place, and with a little push(before Black Clover anime started in Japan you'd see Black Clover crap everywhere. they don't do such advertise for Kingdom. not even half of that) it could surpass it. lets hope the live action movie will be good(no superpowers, transform into a titan, no mecha, etc, so it can be good like Rurouni Kenshin) and boost it's sales and the manga fights for 2nd place
I completely agree in every point and I also want to add that the panel setup and the art is also exceptional. The artist exploits things like the chapter titles and the page turn so magnificently, that he can create so much suspense, give you goosebumps and even move you to tears. Kingdom has raised the bars for me so much that many of the manga and comics I read afterwards make me feel unsatisfied because I have higher standards than before it. It's a must read for every manga reader.
Read up to the latest chapter for 3 days. And that was the epic 3 days of my life. #HiShinUnit

Chibi! This is hands down my FAVORITE VIDEO you have posted! I am so freaking happy you are going to finally do Kingdom reviews!! Kingdom is in my top 3 mangas. Once I read 498 I decided it was time to re read it and I am currently at the Coalition army. chapter 301 exactly.
I'm an anime-only watching the Kingdom anime right now. At least thru episode 3, it has been excellent. Maybe those who didn't like it were disappointed in the adaptation. For me, though, all I see is an excellent story well told.

Kingdom is the best war manga ever. The Zhao arc is the best to me,(after season 3) because Shin begins to use Ouki glaive.
Kingdom is one of best mangas out there and definitely in my top 5.
As of right now, on weekly basis, the chapter of kingdom is the chapter I always look forward to the most.
Read it for more than 3 days till its last update and still waiting and i love it far more than any manga that i read....it was just recommended by my cousin and just the 1st chapter i was already addicted..it really frustrate my not finding it sooner
A friend mentioned Kingdom to me a while back, but I only got around to getting into it over the last week or so. Since I actually started by watching the anime, I ended up being pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this manga. I ended up staying up several nights to eventually catch up around 2am this morning. I'm happy to see that Chibi is reviewing this Manga, especially considering how little I can find about it on the Internet.
Started reading kingdom a month ago, and catch up to the latest chapter just after 3 weeks of casually reading on my breaks and offs. For me it's already the best manga i have read storywise, and the writer even uses histroric events that happened in real life to affect his story. Tho the art is mediocre, and it's really poor in the start of the manga tbh but he improves a lot throughout the series, but the story really gets you. It's story just sucks you in it, it's so well written that it looks like it. And pace, no dull moments, just pure action.
Glad to see more people reading Kingdom, I also hope it gets an English release too !

oh and the sia moment in that fortress and what he did to inspire those men is just wow! I legit cried at his moment as you could see the passion and love he actually had for all his men and the realization that some were going to die but before they would he would give them inspiration to fight to the bitter last and die with there heads held high.
You should check out the Legend of the Galactic Heroes anime. 110 Episodes full of war and politics.

I'm glad to see you've read Kingdom. I think it's time for you to read the rest of the Young Jump manga, they have excellent series and it hurts to see you not knowing about it. These are the top 3 weekly series on Young Jump that I would recommend to you.
1. Usogui - Usogui is a gambling manga focusing around a MC trying to take over an huge underground organization that referees illegal gambling that may include lives of people. It starts off slow, but overall it's a fucking masterpiece. There's a reason why Usogui and Kingdom are called the 2 top manga of Young Jump.
2. Golden Kamui - This series is a relatively new series, but it's an awesome series that definitely needs recognition along with Usogui and Kingdom. It's an adventure manga revolving around the MC trying to find Ainu gold worth millions of dollars, but it doesn't stop there. It also has Comedy, Action, Romance, and so much more. The series is basically a clusterfuck of genres, and surprisingly, it fits into place. I can't tell you much but you definitely want to check this out as well.
3. Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai - Now usually I wouldn't recommend romcom for other people because I like heavier stories, but this manga is so hilarious I just have to recommend it. The story is about two MCs, a boy and a girl at a super rich school who are in love with each other, but doesn't want to confess it to the other as it would be a declaration of defeat. So they try to make the other confess using various methods, but ultimately fail almost every time because of their pride. Those who read Young Jump are estimating that this manga is going to be acquiring the romcom position in Young Jump, and personally it's definitely worth the read if you want to have a good laugh.
These 3 manga are my personal favorite, if you exclude TG and Kingdom. I like Usogui the best out of the 3, but all 3 are great manga and you definitely need to read them.

I kinda have mixed feelings for Kingdom. I haven't read it yet, but once I start reading Berserk more to the point that I'll be fine with taking on ANOTHER manga, then I think I'll start Kingdom. The thing is, my brother and I are huge manga fans, and I've been trying my hardest to get him into Tokyo Ghoul. I know he would like it, but he just made up his mind that it's overrated trash, when it really isn't at all. But he does say Kingdom is amazing, so I can't really say no to it. He might hate Tokyo Ghoul, but he has pretty good taste (e.g. The Flowers of Evil, Berserk, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Parasyte, Gundam, and much more) Anyways, I'll be sure to start Kingdom soon
Only issue i have with kingdom is the slow start, it actually didnt get good until like the 50th chapter for me, but then it gets amazing, now its probably my all time favourite manga
