    Oven cleaner works great on the shield. I put it in a one gallon freezer or storage bag and spray some oven cleaner in it. Let it soak for a while and then wash normally. Be sure to use gloves for hand protection when removing from bag.

    Thx for your help. Got one for Christmas and am enjoying learning to use it. One suggestion I recommend for the splash screen is to throughly wash with warm soap after EACH usage, even for and between consecutive cookings of different foods, timings and temperatures. My screen is completely clean and clear.

    I'm glad you included something about the grease collector, because in the instruction manual shows the back side is the grease collector. I got confused thinking, how is this backside supposed to come out only to find out it's only that little dip lol. Thanks for the video!

    To clean the splatter screen, I took the plastic bristle brush that came with it and pushed the bristles through the screen and it pushes all those trapped pieces out. Definitely needs some new engineering to come with better splatter screen and storage. It’s terrible that all the pieces don’t fit together. Both should be simple to solve. My son loves it though so I would still recommend unless someone found something better.

    Put the splatter shield in a high sided pot of hot water with the water being an inch or two above the shield. Add a cup of vinegar. Then add a cup of baking soda a few sprinkles at a time until the entire cup is in the hot water. Be careful as this will bubble up. Boil for 15 mins, then flip the shield over and boil for another 15 mins. Remove, rinse under hot water then scrub with clean hot soapy water. I bang the shield against the side of the sink to knock out the black bits. Dry the shield and if you have a compressor, you could blow out the rest of the black bits or you could try to vacuum them out.

      Awesome suggestions, I will try these, Those black bits really bug me lol!

    • @nutsforthebeach
      @nutsforthebeach 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MeemReviews we tried to blow out the black bits with a compressor but it didn't work. What we did instead was take the black brush that comes with your air fryer and we kept poking the black bits through the screen which helped a lot.

    🤣🤣🤣🤣It's a cooking machine, the particles will burn it way out of that screen. Been an executive chef for thirties year or you can use harsh chemicals and let it soak overnight, which I wouldn't do.

      I bought one and it's amazing! Just wash the shield after each use and it will stay spotless and it's so easy to wash by hand. I wipe the inside of machine, near and around the coil, with a wet paper towel and mine is spotless. Easier to clean than any airfryer I own and I own 3, one in my office, home, boat. This one's the best!

    Thank you for this video. I was concerned about the cleaning and seeing how difficult it is to completely clean the splatter guard I’m not so sure about buying one now. I really want a grill but not sure if this will be my best option.

      Yes, it is one of the downsides, But I have found that this is by far the one that gives the best cooking results, so far. I hope you found one you like?

    I just ordered the updated smart XL version, really wanted this one, because of the deep pan and smaller size, but it's no longer available here where I live. I wont be washing the screen after every use, so this video was helpful for when I do decide to clean it. My guess is that they intentionally keep it difficult to clean, most people aren't going to remove it after every use, so eventually the whole unit is going to end up very disgusting and difficult to clean and a lot of people will just throw it out and buy a new one, which is better for business. I will be happy if I get a couple of years out of mine, looking forward to playing with mine when it arrives, this will be my first indoor grill/air fryer.

      Yes, I think you might be right, Ninja bringing out new inventions every year so they need to leave some flaws to 'be addressed' in the newer models. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment, I appreciate it. I hope you enjoy your Ninja XL.😊

    I'm looking for a solution to this problem: the upper grill does not get hot enough to grill steaks. I think I created the problem when trying to clean the area beneath it, maybe too much water. Is there any fix? Are replacement parts available? Are there fuses that I may have tripped? Suggestions greatly appreciated.

  • @blessing71

    I found, regarding the splatter shield, it helps to bring the water to a boil, then insert the splatter shield, and then add a cup baking soda (slowly) and a cup of white vinegar (slowly) to the boiling water. At this point boil for 10-15 minutes. At this point I used gloves and tongs, to old the splatter shield above the water, and gently use brush on the areas with losened grease. My pot is smaller, so the splatter shield isn't flat, but one side rests against the pot. This permits brushing while in the hot water, making removal of grease easier. Again, use gloves and tongs to move the splatter shield.

    Do you think a longer hot water soak with Dawn Powerclean (4 hrs.) will remove those last stubborn grease marks from the grease screen?

    • @MeemReviews
      @MeemReviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Honestly, very little help. At the end of it, you really need to put a lot of elbow grease in and scrub like mad LOL. But i do find, cleaning it more often (like after every use or 2 uses) is the key to prevent such stubborn grease. Hope that helps!
