    I got this exact same setup towards the beginning of May! I absolutely love it- I don't need the whole Rubicon package since I only offroad a few times a year, so this is perfect. Great video showing all the features off!

    Bought the Willys instead of the Rubi. I didn’t think I’d use the Rubi to it’s full potential. Never had any issues off roading with the Willys so far and has been an awesome vehicle. I noticed watching the video your tire pressure was at 41psi. I’d deflate to 36psi it makes the drive feel more stable. I think the dealers overinflated to prevent flat spots. Great video. Side note Willys is pronounced Willis

    • @AZdroptop
      @AZdroptop  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you Phil. Sounds like we bought the Willys for the same reason. The Rubicon is awesome, but I just don't think I'd use it either. Thank you for the reminder on the tire pressure! I have read about it a few times and just haven't taken the 2 minutes to deflate them yet. :) And also thank you for the pronunciation. I had someone mention that previous and I had no idea. I watched a video on it the other day. Cool History. Have fun and thank you for watching.

      I just took my Willys in for the 1000 mile service check and when I got it back on the road it felt like i was in an APC. The ride was super hard and rough as a cobble stone road! I bought a high quality tire gauge and checked the pressure and it was 43, 44,44,44! You would think that a dealer service department would know better. I aired them down to the recommended cold pressure and now it drives like it did before the service.

      "...pronounced Willis." Thanks! I was hoping someone would point that out. There's no apostrophe either, it's from John Willys, basically the guy who started it all.

    Nice video. I just bought a new 2023 Willys stripped with a stick. I too like that limited-slip feature. In 2024 it looks like you can no longer buy it with the Willys. Instead they gone to a locking rear diff/axle. I prefer the limited slip on days when there're wet roads and you have to give it the beans for whatever reason.

      Thank you! Someone commented below somewhere that you can get leather in the Willys??? But I never found it online. Might be worth a call to a dealer just incase it is offered. So for the Willys has been great! Only couple of mods I can see doing down the road are 33" tires and a steel bumper and winch. Best of luck with your choice. FYI, mpg over 6K miles has been 19.8. Mostly city with some freeway thrown in.

    Nice ride. We're birds of a feather I tell ya. I also have a Xtrek and a Jeep. Mine's an old TJ Rubicon on 35s now. Also. A 33 inch tire is only going to theoretically give you a half of an inch clearance over a 32. Radius. ;) Stupid fact check. lol Looking forward to seeing that sucker stuck somewhere! Enjoy.

    • @AZdroptop
      @AZdroptop  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      LOL, hopefully only stuck and not on its side. ha ha. I hear you to the 33's vs 32's, but for some reason the Rubicon is 10.7 inches or so, and it has 33's. Not sure where it picks up the extra little bit of height? How do you like the 35's? Did you regear it after? Thanks for checking in man, hope all is going well.

    • @AZdroptop
      @AZdroptop  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are very nice vehicles that is for sure and like you mention, hold their value like crazy. It has been years since we owned one and I have not driven a newer one..do you think you would be as comfortable in the Jeep? The Jeeps are much better that the past, but I am guessing the 4runner would be hard to beat day to day?. Especially for highway travel? If you are just wanting to try something new and the money works out the Diesel would be fun. :)

    • @UtahNick71
      @UtahNick71 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rick Hutton Yeah after fighting with the Jeep dealership and then driving a Rubicon I decided I really like my 4R on a daily basis way better than any Jeep I’ve owned. The only thing it lacks is LED headlights which I’m sure I can retrofit the 2021’s if needed or buy aftermarket for probably cheaper than OEM. I just couldn’t pass up trying to make a deal when they offered me $51K for my Pro. These Jeeps are so overpriced now especially in the higher trims. Also after researching for, the diesels are having all kinds of problems. I will stick with old school reliable.

    • @AZdroptop
      @AZdroptop  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice Nick! That is amazing they offered you that much for the 4runner...definitely worth a shot. I haven't kept up on the Diesel's too much as far as problems go...bummer. 4Runner's are hard to beat as a daily that is darn good off road. Do you get out much in yours? Do you have the KDSS suspension? I think its KDSS. :)

    Thanks for this vid. I am "dating" a 2020 Forester which I have lifted and installed 29's. So far, it is what I wanted for now, so I expect about a 3 year relationship. However, I knew going in that I'd switch to something more aggressive when I retire fully and don't have to drive as much. I don't (and won't) need a Rubicon either, so Jeep has been off my radar. The 4Runner has been my back burner leader in the clubhouse but this might be worth considering given what you've said about ride quality. I do have concern about Jeep reliability so I'll follow along with your results and see how things shake out over the next few years. Thanks for doing my research for me..... ;-)

The Jeep has no window buttons on the door as they are located in the middle stack wow that is cool looking and never knew the new jeeps were so modern. Thanks Jeff. The color is Sting gray and I went with the Penestar. It makes a bit more HP, with less torque, but a torque range that is flatter and I thought it would be easier to use off road. The turbo returns better mpg as well, but I believe premium is recommended though I have heard different opinions on that. Hope that helps.

    How are the mud tires for every day driving? Which engine option did you select?

    • @AZdroptop
      @AZdroptop  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The tires are not bad at all honestly. I have BFG KO2's on my Crosstrek and they are louder than the Jeep both around town and on the highway. I only have about 5500 miles on the Jeep currently so the noise level may increase over time. At 75 I hear wind noise over tire noise so they are good.
      I have the 6. After doing a bit of reading it sounds like the turbo may not be as smooth off road and I didn't want to pay for premium fuel. The 6 is rather quick for such a heavy vehicle and I am getting 20 mpg around town and 22, 23 on the highway. Thank you for watching.

    • @AZdroptop
      @AZdroptop  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly I don't know. I have no personal experience with it myself. I have read in a couple of posts on forums that some think it isn't a good set up for off road. I guess there is a battery mounted down underneath that could be damage by obstacles? Others have said the power delivery is a bit jerky for off roading as well... It seems like a nice set up for a bit of extra mpg, but you are also paying for premium so I'm not sure if there is a big gain or not.

    This vid was a year ago so maybe you’ve figured this out by now, but you don’t have to press the break to start the vehicle when its activated by remote start. You just need to hit the start button. It even says so on the dash.
    2nd thing, not sure if this may have just been a 2020 thing, but the 8in screen is an option on a Willys. I just ordered a 2021. I use to drive. 2016 Sahara and just can’t be without a Wrangler.

    Hi, Rick. I just saw the first video as to why you switched to jeep. It is a true 4 wd, versus the subaru.
    However, I was checking vehicle reliability from consumer reports, and it really poor, rated worse than average. To me, reliability history is where I begin. If it's not at least average, I just move on. To compare, the crosstrek reliability is rated much better than average.
    Just hoping you didn't purshase a headache.

      I have not driven the V4 turbo so I can only give you my opinion on the 6. It has tons of power and I think it is mated beautifully with the 8 speed. Daily driving I get 20.0 to 20.9 mpg and 22 to 23 on freeways and highways. Off road it has worked well and going into manual mode on rocky descents has been great. For what it is worth, I have heard others say the turbo off road is not as smooth, but that is just from reading. Compared to my 05 Rubicon, this 2020 is so easy to live with and a great daily driver.
