Cant help but notice the upside down CK headset.🤣 . Another nice video! Hope i got the Motivation n skills like you to built up old bikes.
I noticed the same thing and hoping he did that on purpose.
Yup was just about to type this lol
don’t worry friends, it was a happy mistake.
Kona is really one of the best smaller manufacturers out there. I'm proud to work at a shop that deals them.
Great folks to be stocking at the shop!
The Seam work was amazing. It's handy to know your way around a sewing machine. Just solutions to problems.
Thank you! Very thankful to have access to a industrial Juki sewing machine 👍🏽
Yeah. That thing chews right thru that xpac like nothing.
These are my favorites videos on the internet. Always a treat to enjoy the sounds of bike maintenance.
Thank you!!
My favorite part of the build is the pink and white paint-scheme and the holographic glitter stuff you covered the entire frame with. Very nice!
Thank you! Sometimes we just need more flavor to spark up our lives once in awhile.
Nice build! Seriously, sometimes, all what we need - its a bright colors) And glitter. Awesome)
Thank you! I couldn’t agree more 🤠👍🏽
easily my favorite bike youtuber, so humble and passionate about what you do, stay safe bro ❤️
Thank you so much! likewise!
very nice bro, impressive build. the custom frame bag is really sweet. great video.
thank you!!
I did a paint and partial rebuild of a Trek 820 from back in the day. Your videos are a serious inspiration.
Thank you! That’s amazing!
nice one man!! love the way youre making it all yourselves, whole theme and all even to the bag!!🤟
Such a dope build. Frame bag is awesome man!
Thank you!
Thank-you for sharing the sounds of bike maintenance. I always enjoy your videos.
Thank you!!
Super tight build as usual!
Thank you!
Loved the video and the frame bag skills. Ace 👍🏻

Another epic build my friend!

Wow thoroughly impressed with this build!! Many small details made this bike so rad.
Thank you!!
Very nice job
Thank you!

Thank you!

Thank you!
New vid day 🙌
Ayy nice , paint looks cool !
Thank you!!
Awesome build!!!
Thank you!
Nice build. Just picked up a 2001 cinder cone. Plan to strip, touch up paint work and re clear coat then re build with wider bars and 1x9, keeping the original Mavic rims, deore brakes, levers, cranks and derailleur. 👍
Thank you! those are so nice! sounds like a great build 👍🏽
Awsome build ,awsome video
Thank you!
Just found your channel , such a cool style brotha . Also next time try using a 2k clear coat as the last coat. It’ll leave a protective layer and it will be even glossier.
Thank you! Thanks for the heads up!
Self sufficient Tomi
😂😂 “just cut your own hair man”
@@CowboyTomi hahah "make your own clothes too" #selfsponsor
beautiful hardtail, better then mine
Thank you! Every bike has it’s own charm.
Beautiful bike and bag 🌴🌊
Thank you!
Very nice... the bike and bag. Always enjoy your videos.
Thank you!!
How does the disc brake bracket hold up under hard braking? Seems a liiiiiitle sketchy lol
Haha! It did seem a little sketchy at first, but the stopping power was there! Skids and all!
Dope build! Sewing skilled too? Renaissance Man!
Thank you!
Super nice build love the bike you redo. I’m planning to redo my 1998 trek y bike. Soon.
Thank you! Good luck!
nice build dude!
Nice build. Well done. On some builds I have hacksawed off the rear V-brake bosses and filed and sanded them smooth before painting or powder coating. One has to be careful but very satisfying.
Thank you! Yeah, I was considering chopping the vbrake bosses off, but since I lack the skill of welding aluminum, I wanted to keep the vbrake bosses just incase the disc brake adapter didn't work.
@@CowboyTomi Sure. I trust the disc brake adaptor is holding up ok?
@@paulvanwessem5867 Yeah, its actually holding up pretty good!
@@CowboyTomi Awesome!!
looks great! kinda making me want a hardtail again 😜
Thank you! Hardtail is the true all terrain bike in my opinion!
Make sure you put enough spacers on the steerer.
Edit: you fixed it!
haha! yeah, i didn't have enough spacers for that moment of install. so i just installed the handlebars anyway for mock up until i grabbed extra at a bike shop down the street. Good eye 👀
This bike is so damn nice! Love it.
Thank you!!
past tomi out here saying, "i'm not much of a mountain biker anyways..." little did past tomi know!
Cowboy Tomi, you are Too Cool!!!
Thanks! You're cool too!
Thank you for the compliment
What are the fittings you installed on the downtube?
Riv Nuts!
why are you installing the headset upside down? is there a reason or just for style?
Just for fun!
I hope he added 1 more spacer or cut the fork down a little bit to the fork so the star nut can do its job to add some compression so the headset/fork isn't rattling around.
I didn’t have enough spacers during that clip, so i just mocked it up anyways until i finally found one later that day. At the end of the video, you’ll notice it’s all there.
what is the name/type of sticker u are using for decals?
i used a vinyl cutter called cricut!
why did you do the headset upside down?
No clue why, maybe just to mix it up a little bit!
I was asking the same question haha fair enough
You're in Seattle? Would like to see this bad boy in person
Maybe during one of @asianbikeclub ‘s meets!
Incredible!
Thanks dude!
@@CowboyTomi I am so impressed!
I really like this video and of course your build! Could you tell me how thes screws are called that you use at 1:17 ? I would be very happy to know .)
what gear ratio's are you running? I have a gary fisher with a 9 speed casette 11-32 that I want to make a 1x. I am trying to decide if I need a larger casetter or if 32 front and 11-32 in the back will work.
Thanks for the help. I love your videos!
Good job 👍
i love it. crank it up bro
Great Vid! What size grommets did you go with? 7/16 or 1/2? And did you use AL rivnuts or carbon steel?
Thank you!! I think it was a 7/16 hole for the M5 Rivnuts and it’s AL
Please do a detailed frame bag tutorial
coming soon!
Favorite one yet. Yeeehaw!!!
thanks brotha!!
What is Beacon?
a bike bag company!
Hey I think I'm gonna make some bags next summer to go bikepacking. Do you have any general advice or tips for making frame bags?
Sup! Don’t rush the frame bag project, measure twice, cut once. When measuring out the triangle of the frame, make sure to add 1/4” around the triangle for the seam allowance - this helps get a good flush fit in your frame.
Owning a good pair of fabric scissors is a must also!
@@CowboyTomi Thanks!
@@CowboyTomi hey man, what material do you use in pink ? what is the zipper type ? and the same for the upper part to fix it to the frame ? Many thanks for your help
@@totosupertramp The pink is a normal 10D ripstop! the zipper is #4 YKK and the upper is paracord. Good luck!
Kona and Dim Sum niiiiiiiice 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
How come you don't spray top coat over your decals? By the way, nice work!👍
Thank you! The vinyl is glossy already so I didn't need to add that top coat.
I loved!
Thank you!
Seriously inspired to make something with a theme. Demon slayer is too damn good, but now if I do any other anime, I’m copying your style 😂
Imitation is the greatest compliment! Do what your heart desires. Thank you for watching! PS: Can’t wait for that new season 🙃🙃🙃
The dropper routing looks properly sketchy not gonna lie.
definitely needed more zip ties for the loose cable under the down tube haha! it works great 🤠👍🏽
C O W B O Y❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Nice
Thanks!
Don't let Zenitsu see your bike. But seriously, great build
haha definitely! thank you!
Yeassirrrrr
Yesssizzskii
Well shiiiieeeeet, arent you missing a spacer under the topcap?!
Yes, I didnt have an extra at that moment. Just installed for mock up until i had another one available!
Nezuko-chaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan!
😈😈😈
Protip: use string on your frame bag. I'd never thought of that! 😎
Definitely another way of saying, “this is never coming off the bike” 😅
You have the Cambodia flag ?
Yes 🇰🇭
@@CowboyTomi wow I like cycling🥰

so many small mistakes and imperfections ruin this bike for me
Sorry not sorry - mistakes and imperfections is inevitable in life. Perfect is overrated anyways 🤷🏽♂️
@@CowboyTomi ok, perfect is too strong of a word, but at least you could've routed the front brake the right way round and cleaned up the oily cassette and bb. Also why grease the dropper?
@@fpsgenerator Yeah, I ended up cleaning the cassette after a ride in the trails. and the BB is basically new - it just had old grease on it from the last frame it was on. 👍🏽
@@fpsgenerator forgot to answer about the dropper: the dropper had been used, so it was a little gummy when it pops up. sram butter was the answer.
Sorry, you lost me at the point you "re-branded" a Kona to what ever the hell it's says on the downtube.
This isn’t re-branding, it’s just an homage to an Anime if you paid attention to the caption in the video when i was applying the Japanese Decals and explaining the inspiration of the paint scheme.
Girl bike 🤣🤣
real men wear pink 😈
@@CowboyTomi 😂🤣🤣 not really
