@@TheMacWhispererLove your videos. Can you tell me how to search text within a note? I have a couple of notes with lots of text. I want to search to see if I’ve already entered specific text to the note.
Yes! 🙌 notes has transformed the way I organize everything on my computer, and eliminated the need for me to use Microsoft Word or Google Docs 99.9% of the time. Every update makes it that much better. Thanks for watching!
What I do is create a playlist (like for this video I created a new iOS 18 playlist) and then add to that for future video tutorials you want to save in the future.

I tried watching a couple other instructional videos before I found yours and yours was by far the best. You are clear and concise and error free. There were no hesitations or corrections to the information. It’s obvious you planned how and what you wanted to say. Your channel will definitely be my go to for Apple related products. If there is one suggestion, if possible, could you add a 15 sec play back option.
Thanks for that! I will definitely look into the 15-second playback option. I didn't know that was something I could change on my end... But thank you so much for watching!

Great video ! Just 1 question - I have an iPhone 12 128GB… the new features are great & some are what Ive been looking for for years!!! I now have the latest ios 17 version. Should I upgrade now or wait some more???
Excellent by far the best tutorial I’ve seen most people race through it but you are slow in precise and understandable I will be watching more of your videos. Great job.

Dylan, great explanation, as usual. Learned about a lot of new features. One question: when transcribing audio into a note, there’s an option to “add transcript to note.” What’s the difference between that and what you showed us, which was “Copy transcript?”
Yes, but: It won't be available for all iPhones when it arrives - just iPhone 15 Pro models, iPhone 16 and later models with Siri, with device language set to U.S. English.
Dylan I am inspired by your video & your way to explain the topics on ios 18 one thing I want to know by you I hope you help me out “in photos app how to move photos from camera roll to album & don’t want to show these photos in camera roll I mean permanent move to album
It's just not the way the Photos app is designed. It's intended for your library (what you are calling the camera roll) to show all of the pictures in your entire collection. Then, when you move them into folders or albums, it makes a reference to the file in the library. This means that you can add the same photo to multiple albums without dupliczating the photo. It doesn't remove it from the library because the library is everything you've got in your entire collection, and that's the way it's supposed to be. What I suggest you do is create a Smart Album that automatically shows any photos that have not been moved into any album. You can call this Smart Album "UNSORTED" and then you will always know what pictures have not yet been filed away, which I think is what you're trying to find. It's easier to do it from the computer than the phone, but if you need help let me know. I'm constantly seeing people want to take pictures out of the library when they move them into albums. But that would mean that if you want the same picture in more than one album you have to duplicate it, creating unnecessary duplicates in your library. The library that contains everythign (sorted chronologically) is a much more elegant solution, and when used the way it's intended it makes perfect sense. I love your detailed explanations because they make it easier for me to understand what you´re talking about. I heard I can erase a person or a piece of furniture from a photo but I don´t know how to do it. My iPhone is the 14 Plus. I´d love to hear you explain how to do that. Kudos on your channel.
The Cleanup feature is a part of Apple Intelligence, which is only available for the iPhone 15 Pro and later. Meaning that your phone will never get that functionality. It is available after the iOS 18.1 update and after turning on Apple Intelligence... but again not on your phone. Sorry, you'll have to use third-party apps to do that instead.
I really appreciate that Steve! In the next few weeks, Apple will add more features to iOS 18, including Apple Intelligence, so keep your eyes open for more videos and walkthroughs of some of these additional tools! Anything in particular that caught your attention in this video?
Glad it's been such a success for you. What is your favorite or most used feature so far? I am thrilled by the send later function and the voice recording in the notes feature.
Thank you for creating this post re: the “iOS 18 update.” The information you provided is thorough and easy to follow and your presentation style is enjoyable. I would give you a 5-star rating (but it is not an option)😉 I did, however, give you a thumbs up 👍🏼 and subscribed to your channel. Please keep up the great work!
The phone recording calls icon doesn’t show up on my screen when making calls. I’m using the newest iPhone and 18 iOS. Any suggestions on why? Love the video!
Apple decided to hold back that feature until the 18.1 update, which will be released on October 28th. You'll be able to see and use that feature as well as other Apple intelligence features when that version releases. Stay tuned, it's almost here.
New to yr channel. I Sub in. Thank you for a great simple learning session. I am visually impaired and I was able to follow along with you. I will be coming bk here for more info. Now I know how to use the new features and where to find things again. 😊

Thank you for your tutorial, very well explained. I have one question, there is no clean up button when I press the setting in the photo edit. Should this come with ios18 after I updated?
You’re very welcome! 😊 I’m glad you found the tutorial helpful. As for the crown in Messages, make sure you're running the latest version of iOS 18-sometimes the update can fix missing features. If it’s still not showing up, feel free to join one of our weekly live broadcasts, and we can troubleshoot it together. 🎉
A new feature called Hover Typing may further support low-vision users with different typing needs on the touchscreen. It can be found by going to Settings>Accessibility>keyboards & Typing>Hover Typing. Hover Typing will display larger text while typing. The user can also choose where this text will be displayed. Hope that is helpful.
Apple Intelligence will be released on October 28th as part of the iOS 18.1 update. Until then, it is not available for wide release. When it does release, it will bring Apple Intelligence to the iPhone 15 Pro and later. So as long as you have one of those phones, you should be fine. Sit tight...
Having the ability to record notes via audio, automatically transcribing as a visual text, as well as adding it to Voice Memos is the best of both worlds.....I've used Voice Memos to record my Thoughts for a long time, but no transcribing. Doing this simple measure taps into the mental process that dredged up ideas, and expands their sphere of use.
Wow! Very impressive! I subscribed! Can’t wait to learn more about Apple Intelligence. You are an incredible teacher and I really appreciate this video! Thank you so much!
Glad you enjoyed it. We should see the first versions of Apple Intelligence released to the public later this month, and I have a couple of very specific videos planned to teach people how to use them. Anything in particular that caught your attention in this video?
@@TheMacWhisperer yes I loved how you explained exactly how Ai is going to work with E-mail and text messaging. I am going to receive my new I-phone 16 Pro mMax the end of this month. I currently have a 12 😬 good time upgrade! Thank you once again for sharing all the wonderful new features on IOS 18!
It's really unlikely because Apple's intelligence requires quite a bit of processing power... and the iPhone chip that was built with the right amount of power for it was the iPhone 15 Pro. Future phones have even more space on the chip for what they call the neural engine to really solve that problem... but back when the iPhone 13 was created, nobody knew they were going to need the neural engine... so it's pretty much non-existent. The reality is that as Apple intelligence continues to evolve we will need faster and faster processors, and anything before the iPhone 15 Pro will be unlikely to ever get those tools. On top of that, as far as I'm concerned, an iPhone purchase is approximately a 2-3 year purchase for peak performance. After 2 years, the battery starts to degrade, and you have to spend money replacing it... After 3 years, it starts to fall a little behind in current technology. I tend to replace my phones every year when the new ones come out, and I know that most people can't (or don't want to) change their phones as often..., but I don't think we should be of the mindset that a phone should last 5 or 6 years because they just won't. Your 13 mini is a good phone today, but a year from now, you should definitely be looking at an upgrade.
Yes, if you press and hold on a message (in text or email) one of the options is "Translate". Also, if you select text and then click through the arrows in the pop-up menu, one of the options there is "Translate". You can't have it do it automatically without creating a Siri shortcut for that, but one button click is pretty easy to do.
Welcome to the Apple family! 🍏🙌 The iPhone 16 Pro Max is a fantastic choice for your first iPhone, and I’m confident you’ll love the smooth experience. 🎉 While the transition from Android may feel a bit different at first, iOS 18 is designed to be user-friendly and intuitive. also in messages, if you select only part of the message, you can add the animation effect to that text thats selected and not the rest. you can have multiple animations going in one message by selecting each part you want animated.

Oh of course please feel free to use my comment in an email newsletter :-) keep up the excellent work of teaching us. I must say I have benefitted enormously and it’s enriched my overall personal productivity a lot to the point where I have become much better in managing my Reminders, Calendar - which incidentally I now love because iOS18 has linked them nicely.

This is one of the best updates to IOS Apple has done. It works great on my 15 Plus.
Glad it's been such a success for you. What is your favorite or most used feature so far? I am thrilled by the send later function and the voice recording in the notes feature.
@@TheMacWhisperer Note app that transcribe your note to words
I agree. Huge productivity tool!
Thank you for creating this post re: the “iOS 18 update.” The information you provided is thorough and easy to follow and your presentation style is enjoyable. I would give you a 5-star rating (but it is not an option)😉 I did, however, give you a thumbs up 👍🏼
and subscribed to your channel. Please keep up the great work!
So helpful! Thank you! I really feel like I'm able to understand all of the features of this new operating system
You're very welcome! Btw... you look familiar, have I seen you somewhere before?
The phone recording calls icon doesn’t show up on my screen when making calls. I’m using the newest iPhone and 18 iOS. Any suggestions on why? Love the video!
Apple decided to hold back that feature until the 18.1 update, which will be released on October 28th. You'll be able to see and use that feature as well as other Apple intelligence features when that version releases.
Stay tuned, it's almost here.
This was soooo helpful!!
❓If you have RCS on for messages, can Android users see message effects??
They can't see the effects (as far as I know), but they will see your tapbacks and replies, and wil also see your pics and videos better!
@@TheMacWhisperer Okay, thanks for that!!
New to yr channel. I Sub in. Thank you for a great simple learning session. I am visually impaired and I was able to follow along with you. I will be coming bk here for more info. Now I know how to use the new features and where to find things again. 😊
Welcome to the channel, and thank you so much for subscribing! 😊 I’m really glad to hear the session was easy to follow, especially since you're visually impaired-that means a lot to me! If you ever need more tips or have questions, feel free to come back anytime. We also host weekly live broadcasts where you can ask questions in real time. Looking forward to seeing you again! 😊
Thank You Dept of Justice for some of these needed changes.
Thank you for the informative video. I’d love you to cover the new Siri AI please 🙏🏼 yours is the best video for the new iOS 18 I’ve come across!
Will do! It won't be released fully for folks for a month or so, but I will make a video about it!!!
Wish I discovered Dylan sooner. This guy is FANTASTIC.
Thanks so much! Please let me know if there are other topics you would like to see me cover!
You’re quick with sharing each new feature but you share in a way that we can implement them. Thanks
I love to hear that exclamation point. It's my intention to make sure everyone understands what we're talking about and doesn't just fill their heads with a bunch of useless info. These are tools that should help you use your equipment better.
Thanks for watching!
Excellent video and the new features are brilliant well done sir and well done Apple with IOS18
Thanks so much! 😊 I’m glad you enjoyed the video, and I agree-Apple really knocked it out of the park with the new iOS 18 features! If you’re looking to learn even more or have questions, feel free to join one of our weekly live broadcasts. And if you’re really enjoying the content, feel free to drop a Super Thanks-it helps me keep bringing you more great tips! 🎉
Thank you for your tutorial, very well explained.
I have one question, there is no clean up button when I press the setting in the photo edit. Should this come with ios18 after I updated?
That will show up for you if you are on an iphone 15Pro or later after the iOS 18.1 update is officially released in the next few weeks.
This is such a helpful tutorial!! Thank you. I can’t see that crown in Messages.
Do you have news for visual impaired tool in ios18?
A new feature called Hover Typing may further support low-vision users with different typing needs on the touchscreen. It can be found by going to Settings>Accessibility>keyboards & Typing>Hover Typing. Hover Typing will display larger text while typing. The user can also choose where this text will be displayed. Hope that is helpful.
Awesome video. I could not download apple intelligenec app. Help
Apple Intelligence will be released on October 28th as part of the iOS 18.1 update. Until then, it is not available for wide release. When it does release, it will bring Apple Intelligence to the iPhone 15 Pro and later. So as long as you have one of those phones, you should be fine. Sit tight...
Can i go ios 16.6 to ios 18 directly is it safe or should i updte to ios 17 first please reply
You can jump right to iOS 18 without any problems!
Thanks sooo helpful!
Your feedback means a lot! 🙏 We're glad to hear the tips are helpful. Keep exploring those Apple products! 💡💻
I agree. It's a powerful new feature and adds a whole world of possibility!
Really appreciate your in depth and easy to understand tips and instructions.
Thank 🫵 You for watching!!!!
No problem! Thanks again!
I like your take on the most meaningful features of iOS 18. Thanks 👍🏽
I appreciate that! Thanks for watching!
Will all Apple intelligence features ever come to all devices like my iPhone 13 mini
Another one!
Great vid!
Thanks, I appreciate it! Thanks for watching!
Is there an option to auto.have the option to translate right into mail or message?
Yes, if you press and hold on a message (in text or email) one of the options is "Translate". Also, if you select text and then click through the arrows in the pop-up menu, one of the options there is "Translate". You can't have it do it automatically without creating a Siri shortcut for that, but one button click is pretty easy to do.
The iPhone 16 Pro Max will he my very first iPhone. Hoping it is a smooth transition from Android that ive been using since version 1.1
Absolutely true! I love that New feature, and have been using it regularly!
In iMessage if you hold the send button it'll give you some more effects
Absolutely true! Thanks for the tip!
How do you get the bursting balloons in the message app?
Best video I saw so far!!
I appreciate that! Any specific takeaways?
@ you go into details and give step by step instructions- I am 62 so that’s extremely helpful!
Great to hear. I also have a lot of other resources, so keep watching and I’ll be sure to drop some tips for you.
Excellent video with great details. No craziness just real explanations. Thanks very much!!
Glad it was helpful! Thank 🫵 You for watching!!!!

Dylan your way of teaching is very precise, comprehensive and clear and I love it. Your speed of delivery and clearness is just right. I learn so much from these kinds of video tutorials. Love watching your live streams on Thursday evenings here in the UK. I'm super excited about iOS 18/Watch OS 11 🙂
Manny, thank you so much for your warm comment!! I am really excited about making the Thursday broadcast a regular event! Would you be open to my using your comment in an email newsletter?
@@TheMacWhisperer Dylan, you’re very welcome for my comment on your teaching approach and style. I bet you’re really excited about the live stream broadcast on Thursdays, I’ll watch as many as possible (obviously time zone permitting). Oh of course please feel free to use my comment in an email newsletter :-) keep up the excellent work of teaching us. I must say I have benefitted enormously and it’s enriched my overall personal productivity a lot to the point where I have become much better in managing my Reminders, Calendar - which incidentally I now love because iOS18 has linked them nicely.
so glad to hear!
Thanks a lot Dylan with your full informations about IOS 18 . You are great
I really appreciate that! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for sharing all this important information. I don’t like what they did to the photos on my iPad. They are so small I have a hard time seeing them. Now I will stretch them out and hopefully I will be able to see them again.
Glad it was helpful! You have a ton of tools to customize and change the photos app. I will be doing a full video on it soon!
Thanks for the great video Dylan ! I’m old but still trying to keep up with changes 😂 and you make it easy to understand.
Happy to help!
I just subscribed to this channel. My all time favorite for IOS 18 is the ability to record and read transcripts. That would help me being hearing impaired. I am rather disappointed, because I was really looking forward to a new and improvedd siri. I just won't use it. It's more hearing impaired than I am. Great job. Keep up the great work.
The new and improved Siri will be here before you know it, and you can access it with text instead of just voice now.
Thanks for watching!
@@TheMacWhisperer I cannot wait. I also found out that the record feature will be in 18.1. It's pretty much the same to me. A lot of these new features I won't be using. Thanks so much for your response.
Thank you for educating me. Kind regards from 🇬🇧
I'm so glad it was helpful! Thanks for checking it out! Any other topics you'd like to see me cover?
Thanks so much for the updates and how to use them. I’m older and you did a great job explaining at a pace so I can follow along 😊

iPad Gen 10. Can you please help me find a way to show Battery Life as in % left of degradation? Thanks for your help in advance Dave Florida!
Go to Settings > Battery, then turn on Battery Percentage. Does that answer your question?
@@TheMacWhisperer no. The life like in the iPhone
I have the 14 pro max and have upgraded to 18.1.1 my message app doesn’t have the tools you have on yours
Those tools are a part of Apple Intelligence which is only available on the iPhone 15 Pro and later... sorry.
EXCELLENT Video, learned a lot.
Glad to hear it! Thank 🫵 You for watching!!!!
Nice explanation Dylan 👍👍
Appreciate that. Thanks for watching!
Good morning thanks for the tips what if you don’t have a cleanup feature on your photos
The cleanup functionality will be released for iPhone 15 Pro and later on October 28th when the iOS 18.1 update is released for the public.
I am a beta developer and had that version already on my phone, which is why you're able to see it here.
We had assumed that iOS 18.1 would be released a little sooner than it was, but we now have a release date of 10/28, so there's not a lot longer for you to wait to get this feature.
@@TheMacWhisperer thank you
I love the way you summarize the new IOS, they should hire you for the new AI 🎉
Lol, thanks for that. I’ll be talking more about AI and other tools moving forward, but I think Apple’s already got some pretty good people on their AI team…
