  • Here’s part #1 (of 2) of my own hints and tips guide, for helping use the outstanding PARD008LRF (and PARD008) Night Vision Imagers. Those who watched the first one I uploaded on Wednesday morning - just skip to the last six minutes.
    I chose a different thumbnail for this full-length pt.1 - so you can see how much slimmer the PARD008LRF (on the right) is than the PARD008 + Picatinny side-mounted LRF on the left.
    Topics include…
    • Shimming…
    Coke can shims.
    M3 Grub screw (drill & tap required - thanks Bruce!)
    CRS’ ZB Lite Pro Adjustable Windage & Elevation raiser rail.
    • Using and adjusting the Shader-8 adjustable Iris…
    Daytime use improving contrast.
    Night-time use improving depth of field.
    Awesome PARD008 sensitivity.
    • Add-on External IR illuminator.
    Two clamping options.
    Part #2/2 coming in a few days will include…
    Getting the best out of the built-in LaserRangefinder (LRF).
    HD footage indoors and outdoors by day and night.
    Comparative footage from the Yukon Photon RT in same night-time conditions.
    Internal IR (3x strengths) wide-angle and focused.
    External IR (3x strengths) wide-angle and focused.
    Possibly the two rabbits that strayed into range while I was filming. ;o)
    Kit-wise I bought everything featured from…

    Hi Russ, great videos and very informative! Do you know if the pard range finder can be purchased and added to a nv008 as an upgrade.. just the price difference between the 2 models is quite substantial and finding it hard to choose between the 2. The pard range finder is very neat, tidy and effective but its a lot of extra money. Would like to maybe buy the 008 and then the range finder at later date if thats possible even.. cheers

    • @RussDouglas222
      @RussDouglas222  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Shane thank-you very much!
      Nope sorry the 008LRF's LRF is very much integrated, so cannot be added to an 008.
      The nearest you can do is buy an LE-032 LRF (e.g. from customhunting.ecwid.com), that can be mounted on either side of the 008's accessory rails.
      Ranges are displayed on the LRF's rear screen and not the 008's display, but at least the LE-032 can also be mounted on the side of any dayscope via a Picatinny accessory rail, so you can swap one between many scopes.
      I have some photos of this LRF mounted on both the Pard008 and a dayscope in a couple of my Flickr albums, in case you're interested?
      All the best, cheers. Russ

      Hmm I don't use an app, instead I just pop the MicroUSB card into my PC, then drag n drop the files.
      Aside from changing the battery at one bar (to avoid audio interference), the other inconvenience is in wet weather we can't remove the compartment's cap to allow sound recording, via the internal mic. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Can you adjust the laser beam on 008 lrf, mine is on the left of my reticle not the right

    • @RussDouglas222
      @RussDouglas222  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Peter yes you 'can', though it will probably invalidate your warranty, so it might be better if you got your dealer's tech team to do it if need-be.
      I covered this in one of my videos ages-ago, but basically...
      You carefully prise off the rectangular front plate from the LRF.
      Next scrape out the silicone protecting all the small adjustment screw heads.
      Now you carefully loosen or tighten the screws a little bit one at a time (i.e. adjusting the LRF beam direction within the rubbery housing), while checking the LRF beam direction regularly.
      It's total trial and error to redirect your LRF beam to where you want it.
      When you're happy re-silicone the small screw heads and replace the LRF's front plate.
      Now follow the instructions here to re-align the LRF's onscreen aiming box with the centre of the LRF's IR laser 'splash' at your chosen range: th-cam.com/video/xeIuHt3UrMY/w-d-xo.html
      I hope this helps, cheers. Russ

    Hi Russ can you help me maybe with the problem. Without shimming my (y) is far too low but windage is pretty good, but when I shim my Pard for elevation (y) I lose my windage - my (x) goes far to the left. Do you know what can be reason for that.
    I also experienced one other thing. Ive recently changed ammo on my 22 lr so I needed to rezero, after I did it I noticed that my Pard is changing (y) coordinate on its own, it is dropping for 2 degrees everytime I enter into reticle adjustment. I was thinking that the reason can be that Pard is maybe saving reticle adjustments on sd card, so everytime I turn it on it uploads different one 🤔

    • @RussDouglas222
      @RussDouglas222  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Veki I'll help if I can...
      Hmm not sure but it sounds like it's maybe wobbling/rotating slightly once raised by shimming? 🤔
      Hmm I've heard of Pards occasionally suffering random errors, for which my suggestion is usually to reinstall the same firmware version over what's there; you just have to be absolutely sure you install the right version for your model of Pard (i.e. older models or newer 'P' models), else you can brick your unit.
      Not sure what you mean by 'dropping for 2 degrees'(?), except zeroing graduations are different between zeroing when zoomed-in (1, 2, 3) or zoomed-out (2, 4, 6)?
      Hope this helps?
      Cheers. Russ

      What I think when I say degrees is actually what you call seconds I think. Hi there, yep most Pard users shim under the back of the scope to centralise the reticle (as do some folk with other Digital scopes like the Wraith, etc), but if that's not helping my recommendation is get yourself an EagleVisionCam 108MOA adapter: www.tinyurl.com/EVC108MOA
      This completely replaces the supplied Picatinny adapter and allows you to raise the Pard by a few mm if required, and also to adjust both the windage and elevation 'shimming' to pre-centre the crosshairs when zeroing.

    • @RussDouglas222

      Allan simply because the mount hasn't been designed to accommodate the (inherently low) trajectory of most airguns.
      This issue isn't unique to Pards but is common to most digital scopes, my Yukon Photon XT & RT also required adjustable mounts, as do many users of Wraiths; digital scopes don't have the forgiving erector tubes of dayscopes.
