    MORE DETAILS: • Homemade Table Saw
    My new homemade table saw.
    I built it because I wanted a new, better saw and the big one is still not ready to go. I tried to keep it cheap and easy and use the least amount of million dollar power tools possible.
    The circular saw is a bosch gks 66 ce and has since then been swapped out for a makita 5903 because it's more powerful and allows for more depth of cut.

    I enjoy all of your videos because it shows options and ingenuity. I did some rough calculations regarding the cost of plywood and a saw to dedicate and you are very close to the cost of a portable pre-made saw. Neverthe less making things yourself that actually work has a whole different value. Getting things dead square is likely the biggest challenge.

    Brilliant out-of-the-box thinking; a basic design that is simple and just works. This can be added to as needs dictate. I like Cosma's work because it breaks the conditioning that you have to buy ready made stuff; that it has to be 'professionally' made to be any good. Thanks for posting.

    That is one of the best table saw builds I have seen on youtube, and believe me I have seen many. It looks and works better than my SIP table saw that I wasted some money on buying, the rip fence was garbage on it and I have been looking at rip fences and saw yours. Could you possibly send me a plan of how you made that rip fence, if theres one available? it would save me taking my laptop to my shed!
    Thanks again for a great build and video.

    Well done my friend, it looks like it cuts very accurately as well. I believe that is the hardest part of making your own table saw. I know many woodworkers scoff at the idea of these homemade tables, but they can be just as good or better than production units when done properly. Kudos to you, and happy woodworking :)

    your fabrication ideas are awesome.I have a couple of question...:
    1. what is that blue nut or driver on the nose of your screwdriver?
    2. when installing dowels,I thought that you have to drill the holes first on one side,mark the other side,drill holes again and then install the dowels.in this case it is very difficult to drill perpendicular holes,without a drill giude (?)

    • @CosmasBauer
      @CosmasBauer  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is a bit holdr that locks the driver bit in place. The blue thing is the release.
      Yes that would be difficult and that's why I didn't do it.

    Amazing work. Actually, you inspired me to build my own following your design. The thing is, my crappy circular saw does not have a riving knife and i would like to build some kind of a protection thing. Do you have any suggestions? Would it work if i make some DIY riving knife and glue it or screw it directly on a zero clearance insert? Thank You for the inspiration!

    • @CosmasBauer
      @CosmasBauer  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are little riving knive like things that attach to the insert. You may wanna check out the woodpeckers channel he uses them and I think he also explains where to get them.
      The problem is that with a crappy circular saw it will not work anyways. For an applycation like this you'd need a really sturdy one to keep the motor's weight from distorting the entire thing and throwing the blade angle off all the time.

    • @MrRvPGunner
      @MrRvPGunner 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cosmas B Exactly the problem I had. Although, I have managed to "solve" it somehow. About the riving knives, i found those little micro jig splitters. Maybe that will help. My table saw is like the first one you made but the fence is like the second one you made. My version is still far from perfect but it amazes me what I actually managed to cut with it. So, thanks again.

    everything is great just one question,
    why did you cut that hole in the middle of the table, then put the insert in the end to cover that same hole ?
    wouldn't it be easier to just keep the original table top instead of cutting it there ?
    you already used the router to cut half way deep , why not keep it like that ?

      If I want to make a cut with the blade tilted I need another insert because that would really widen the slot (because the hinge point is not in plain with the table top but underneath it).

      How would you change the angle of the blade on a skill saw?

    I love this! If I didn't have a tablesaw I'd want this.

    What paints are you using? I have always had to use primer and undercoat. It would be good to find and paint I can just paint straight onto the wood.
