How could I miss this great interview which talked so in depth into the Mozart magic? That too, when the singer in question started the discussion about Rahman first on his love bgm scores in one of Roja’s scenes which had all exceptional bgm pieces throughout. Truly, I would pick his describing that bgm of Roja as the Moment of the Day because I was wondering since many days why ppl who discussed about his bgms in Bombay, RDB and other films didn’t even mention Roja’s bgm! Finally, it’s this man who shared the same name like mine had done the honours.🥇🏅🏅
Ofcrs, this interview had 💯 percent got moments that could qualify for the Moment of the Day. I genuinely can’t pick one but still my fav is how he sang the Roja bgms and songs. Also, his mention about those dynamics of Rahman after a long time since RDBurman is another icing on the cake and will be agreed by anyone. The most surprising thing about Roja that never ceases to surprise anyone is how fresh the music sounds even today after all these thirty years. It sounds even today like it released yesterday. And You would still listen to it like you’re listening to it for the first time. This is a rare phenomenon something unique to only the Roja album 💿!
Regarding the title song of Saathiya in Tamil and Telugu, the way Hariharan crooned it so mesmerisingly is unmatchable and unbeatable, even by Sonu nigam. Though it’s a different feel in Hindi but the contrast is clearly missing between the initial humming and the soothing vocals of Hariharan in the rest of the song which is explained by Srinivas so well as how Rahman’s genius shines through the entire song which he couldn’t get it at that time. Even in terms of song picturisations and the way the actors gelled in the songs, there’s even more clear difference between the Hindi and southern versions and you know why Mani Ratnam is called the master of song picturisations!
Even in the other crowd puller song, Snehituda, his backing vocals in the chorus has added that contrast in an otherwise feminine song which is again another magical touch of our maestro Arr! In fact, the chorus tune is also used as a bgm in the final scene of the movie and in other emotional scenes. It sounds as a chorus on the outside but had a deeper soulful feel to it inside and that’s why it’s placement initially and then landing into the actual song makes so much of sense both for listening and ofcrs, in terms of picturisation.

He wants to serve the humanity as do the chosen persons who expects nothing in return except for making people happy for the sake of earning God's pleasure. There lies the great meditation and deep focus. O2 could also think of shedding some light on the meditative soul of Rahman. Being a ARR fan for years, its upsetting and saddening to see ARR not getting to do right movies anymore due to his focus more on live concerts, which are again getting routine. I remember my 1st Bangalore concert and it was WOW, 2nd was fine and now a days any concerts, its the same songs and nothing new to anticipate. Its not that ARR has lost his magical touch, his choice of movies or directors coming to him doesn't cater to musical expectations or requirements anymore. Though his last couple of years we might argue this and that movie was good, great etc., end of the day we go back check, there is hardly any impact across audiences anymore.. To maintain his stature, I seriously wish ARR either stops picking or making movies or he starts getting back to his normal space let young directors reach him for more movies and most important focus on audiences expectations.. This way at least as a fan, would be happy to notice people looking up to ARR again or keep saying, we had ARR those days, but not becoming some common composer!!!
Also, Pls he should go back to his nature of music talking and not he coming for interviews.. That was our ARR!!!
I wish I really hope ARR and his team gets to see and understand the reality now!!! Those videos brings us back those day memories, but the fame we are seeing is past and not reality anymore. Sometimes truth is bitter and we need to accept!!
Everyone has their opinion, but as a hardcore fan, its really sad to see ARR go this way down steadily..
I feel that not good movies are coming nowadays. Audience taste changes. But for live concerts seeing the same singers faces is very very boring..... New singers will be interesting....🙏

Some so called die hard ARR fans are talking at surface level and not ready to listen what he is offering and just want same style from him! Have you listened his Amazon harmony Assamese songs! If you want take it personally, its up to you.. Need to open to reality bro.. Pathu Thala or PS2 or VTK are good, but my point was they are not worth enough to listen only to them, and thats because choice of movies or directors coming to him doesn't cater to musical expectations or requirements anymore and that's again because ARR himself has shut himself to busy stuff like concerts, interviews, tweeting etc and this is the era where time and money matters.. ARR doesn't need to do 10 movies a years, 1 movie with a solid sound blowing everyone out of the park is enough.. All we FANS of ARR are doing is pacifying ourselves stating Thala or PS2 or VTK.. Forget abt comments bro, these movie songs dont even stand out anywhere near to major hit numbers.. Be practical and remember everyone has a peak moment, but as a fan ARR should not fall steep with average movies, rather stop it and make mesmerizing music once in a while to his stature.. !!!

Ended up watching this video more than 20 times. The way he expresses the BGM for Roja and the song pudhu vella mazhai....just amazing. The Bheemsen joshi reference and the way he sang OMG just went back to hearing this song again to appreciate how it came about.
