I don’t really think it matters, if you can improve the value of your card by cleaning it and removing scratches go for it. Somebody used an old car as an example and I’d argue who the hell sells any car and doesn’t clean it first? If you can remove dents or scratches on the the car no one is going to be like oh you made it look nicer now I don’t want to buy it. Weak take. Removing dirt and scratches is not the same as replacing old parts on a car and making in not original. Even the corner/dent removing tool. Ask your self this, is it improving the quality of the card? If you’re improving the quality of the card, should its value not also increase? Who in their right mind is gonna be like no I don’t. Want the 1st edition charizard because they removed the dents scratches and dirt and it got a 10 instead of a 7 or 8. Absolutely no one and anybody who says they would is being disingenuous.
It’s an interesting topic for sure. I don’t think I care that much either way. Given the built-in variances in grading, if there’s a way to buff up the card a bit and it looks good then fine. We all try to make sure the cards we send in have the best chance to get the highest grade. Now, if it ends up there’s issues to pop up in the long run using some of these products then it’ll be a different story.
That’s the big fear too for me. I just don’t know how any chemical cannot have some sort of side effect in the long run right now with no evidence. I think it’s fine but I do think that it could become unethical if we find that the cards are being negatively affected.
Getting out the dents usually involved using a humidor. I mean if you do it and PSA still grades it just fine it’s kinda like pulling a dent from a car
Personally I don’t Care! If a professional grader says it’s a 10 in the end who cares you got a 10! I think this is actually a great idea to help people and their collections!
Only type of cleaning acceptable is getting dirt off. You do not know for sure that long term the scratches would stay removed. 5-10-20 years from now. Imagine you slab a card you cleaned and sell it as a 10. Next person buys it and holds it for years. How would you feel if a card you got years ago all the sudden a scratch re -appears.
Huh?? Have you ever polished a car, a floor, glasses, etc? Scratches don't miraculously "reappear" unless deliberately tampered with. A scratch is a scratch, wax does not remove scratches, it makes them less noticeable by filling them. Wax doesn't just miraculously disappear especially in a sealed case with 0 environmental factors that can affect it.
Any reconditioning for a value increase besides getting dirt off is not genuine regardless. If a car was a salvage title but completely fixed it’s still half the value
@@mikespandinator2054 and I can tell you with certainty, in a closed environment with absolutely nothing that can even whisper at the card, nothing will change. summed it up pretty good, its... 'erhhh' an interesting precident, could get really good results with xp but if i knew someone had done this with my card itd be out the door
At the end of the day you want to send the best possible product to a Grader for your collection. If you are able to clean and help them become more presentable with the actual altering of the card there should be nothing wrong with it.
What are your thoughts about cleaning cards with Kurts Card Care?

Couldn't agree more.

The car scratch is not a good analogy. People know paint isn’t gonna be perfect because it’s OUTSIDE the car. A card? Nah. It’s altering imo. 🤷♂️
I respect your opinion
What’s wrong with getting out dents in that way? You’d use the same method for curling/ warping which everyone seems to be fine with

Yeah how many 10s have I bought that aren’t actually 10s but the grader said so haha

I don’t think scratches will reappear in the slab. Anything is possible but I doubt it for that.

You don’t think, but you also don’t know

That's exactly what i was thinking. Comparing to cars is a perfect example.
U have the best video i found about this. Show us some step by step.

I have a kobe auto with a crease
Contact Kurts card card on Instagram. He has been able to make creases better using a humidor.
