Yeah, it’s actually quite interesting how this became such a strong weapon upon the 4.1 buff. Being used widely in competitive. Not quite everywhere due to Zap and Ballpoint being as strong as they are, but Pencil’s absurd paint and pressure gives it a very strong role as a back line cooler option
Bro had to have had this in storage to post within the first second of cooler meta for this to be accurate with how fast pencil dominated.
The amount of comments on this video trying to say “pencil actually sucks” when it’s the most used competitively is really funny

after that day i was seeing a snipewriter every 5 games (which is still not a lot) but it's better than not at all

Yeah... Good at painting, but not really at being a sniper.
This video is actually a lie, yes it is good but it’s definitely not top tier the only reason to use it is cuz it has a dominant splat zones niece, otherwise other weapons like blasters or slosher s for the chip damage, or nzap for tacticooler just outclass it
Pencil is a top tier. At the Splatoon 3 Championships which happened just a few days ago, we saw many pencils on non splat zones modes. One of them being Crush Soda vs Jackpot Grand finals Game 4 Barnacle Clams. If Crush Soda lost then they were eliminated and Jackpot were crowned the winners of the whole tournament. And Crush Soda won with a pencil on clams!
Pencil is good because it can do chip damage and get cooler at the same time. People are running pencils when they could just run a grey zap. It was a thought out choice and if teams are picking a pencil over zap on a good few maps and modes then its definitely a top/high tier weapon

Lol, how can a weapon's strength be that even if you don't get a kill your teammate can finish the job? If thats its 2nd strength then it goes to show its a poor weapon.
because its a really good support weapon. Not all weapons are meant to be upfront and aggressive, and if being a good killer was all that a weapon needed to be good then sploosh would be a top tier.
Pencil is good right now because its has amazing paint output for your team, it can reliably and quickly get tacticoolers for your team. And its damage out helps with alot of weapon's kill times.
Its the best support weapon in the game right now and pairs well with the majority of weapons and thats why pencil is a top tier weapon
@@_EthanStone I wouldn't call any weapon top tier if one of its best features is half doing a job. Speaking as someone who doesn't play competitively but in X battle, I'd much prefer a sploosh teammate because they play objective and actually do get kills. I'd even bet on sploosh taking out a snipewriter in a 1v1. And since the other team is probably going to have an e liter or splat charger to match, you're leaving your team vulnerable using this weapon. N zap, tri slosher or heavy edit are much better tacticooler weapons in my opinion.
@@applecidervinegar1650 ok cool pencil is being run over sale in a lot of places so if top level teams choose to run this weapon over another top tier then pencil must be a top tier aswell
