You might not be a musicians. But speaking as a musician, you are the only person I've seen on here, proving to me it is capable of doing many needed things for mel, in one box, for inputting live instruments, hardware/ext synths, and live drums from around the world. And whatrever am in mood to live sample and batter in there. You've totally showed me my ways into it that make sense to me. And with you doing festivals, I can trust it is trustworthy and up for the work. Nice one! Most of the video demos I'm seeing tend to be the usual Lego kit builders painting by numbers.
Another good tip that performance tutors gave to me was that if you have a big concert or recital coming up. Then prepare for it by doing many small, less pressured recitals in the lead up. Even if it's to very small groups of friends, or smaller audiences or less critical environments like cafes, bars. All the better if these friends are true friends but also artists and can give gentle constructive feedback. Recording these concerts and listening back helps too. Just so that you become more of a machine, that when performance time comes, you spring into action, and just do the thing that moment, without thinking. It helps iron out some kinks. And it highlights areas that need to be worked on, practiced more or simplified.
we always learn a lot from you... from your knowledge, but mainly.. from your journey. The best thing for me is to learn from how you have been evolving as a musician
man, even for a guy with a total different setup (looper Roland rc-505mkii, simple circuit tracks and hopefully soon an astrolab) your advice and considerations concerning live performing electronic music are gold. Very much appreciated, much respect!
I love all the sounds, but I think I appreciate the advice the most. It’s hard to remember that people are booking you and coming to see you for a reason.
Big thanx Federico for sharing your workflow and to have a deep view into your creations. I absolutely agree that you do it simply for your live performances. I play over 20 years live with ableton and since the first push came out, it was a super option to present the music live to the audience on a easy way with a small set up. I love your music very much, it’s absolutely my taste;-) Hope to see you at the Superbooth this year. Best greetings from the other side of the world🖖☺️
great tip about the octawave. the way i've been keeping the element of risk in my live sets throughout the years has been to always replace at least one unit in the rig. 😅...looking for the perfect beat. thanks for sharing!
@@OoraMusic sorry, i updated my comment before i saw your answer. here goes: question: since you're not running the kick and bass etc through model1, do you have anything configured to allow you to process (filter?) the main audio as 'one package'? (such as like the master filter on model1.) thanks!
so interesting.............BTW - in my 'live, ambient, improv' videos, I'm generally playing everything live, everything is a risk, but that's the beauty of improv...........................love all your videos............masterfully presented
hey, I just wanted to say thank you. I'm having my first live performance soon. and I must admit that I am extremely nervous. You touched on all the issues that were stressing me out and your simple advice at the end was truly priceless. Thanks, I gained some self-confidence!
Insightful video! Just wondering how stable do you find the standalone especially in the live setting? My fear is just having it crash during a set and whether running it with a laptop is more safe route to relay one
Good Stuff! With the dozens and dozens of things that can go wrong live, from time/performance delays, setup problems, power interupptions, etc., advising to make 'everything simple' (even packing up equipment if traveling) should be the number one piece of 'golden advice' people should consider and take to heart. I remember doing a gig years ago (was playing guitar for that show), and right before setup I had to pee REALLY bad, but all restrooms had lines. Nervous people backstage?? Anyway, i ran out to the alley and peed outside (i had to go). After, i ran back in to help setup the gear, and things went pretty smooth...so i thought. About halfway into the 2nd song I feltl my pants getting loose, and actually start to fall. Talk about nervous! I decided to stop playing so I could quickly turne around, and sort of hide myself stage left. Luckly i was able to properly buckle my belt while my guitar was kind of hiding what i was doing (it didn't seem people realized what i was doing until i told them later). I turned back around and finished the song. Talk about 'anything' going wrong? It can, and it will... one day at one show.
Ableton variations ah? Finally someone is using that new performance pack. I feel it has potential but didn't figure out how to use it yet. Looking forward for that video about that. As always great content!
Very inspiring video!! I'm trying to setup a live set with push 3 stand alone. I've been finding sometimes I get some clicks or pops and my set isn't that big. Have you found that. It's intermittent, I don't get it when hooked up as a controller. Trying to figure out why.
Interesting also routing the model one into push then out from push, that's just to apply some Mastering only? Cool idea. Does it sound much different if it just comes out of the model one to speakers ?
Thanks for your great work - always a relaxing joy to watch and listen to your dreamy sound architectures! One question: What is this fader box at the side?
Even if there was, it's better to handle that in another small device. That way, when the Push 4 comes out (or whatever the next thing is) you don't need to buy/learn a whole new mixer... just swap out the adat box for something else.
Does the variation tool work ok? I was finding it to be buggy and would change other parts of the set that I didn't want. Like mixer volume when I just wanted it to change the clip variation.
@17:41 this single piece of advice extends to everything in life. I made this mistake in business, I assumed that everyone else could do or see things that were obvious to me, how wrong was I.
Doesn’t the fact that the Model 1 doesn’t have panning drive you nuts? So annoying. Though obviously you have some panning options on some synths. Your stuff a ounds great as usual. Love the heavy verb.

Not yet!
please do a video about the follow-up actions on ableton!!
It will come

it is the 16n, I got it from slate and ash. I did a mapping video on my patreon

yes with some
different routing , will experiment on that

realizing that you have some superpowers that comes easy for you is a pivotal moment!
Doubting about the model 1 and pioneer v10 (for small midi setup, not dj)
I like the idea of a fully analog mixer, so it doesn't get obsolete
If only the Octawave was a class-compliant usb device… I could use some extra outputs on my MPC One.
they might be working on something !

grazie caro!

2 and a half grand for a mixer... Come on...
The compact Adat by octawave is a great idea though...
do Ableton Push 3 standalone is considered dawles?
I guess is up to you. I never really married the lawless concept. An octatrack is like a daw for me, so whatever get the job done is ok. :)
