    This video was perfect for me. It was exactly what was wrong with my dryer. As soon as I saw that there was a safety switch for the belt tensioner I checked mine and sure enough it was stuck in off position.

    Thank you for your instructions on how to disassemble one of these dryers. I bought one for $50. Following your video, I took it apart and found several inches of lint packed around the motor causing it to jam up. You never know what's going to stop these things from working, but with your video it made it easy the Dive Right In.

    It's funny that my dryer had the same exact problem. It would beep but not turn on. I did all the testing and found out the circuit board was bad. I removed the board and noticed a burned solder joint on the relay. I purchased a new relay on amazon, soldered the new one on and it works like a CHAMP!!
    If you have basic soldering skills, you can repair your own board and save hundreds!!!
    Good video!

    IMPORTANT! 11:20 When you order the new switch it will have two terminals on one side and one on the other, like in the video. Make sure you connect the wire to the top terminal. I wasted so much time trying to figure out what else was wrong with my dryer when all I had to do was hook it up correctly.

    Wow thanks for the quick reply! control lights go on but when start button is pushed it clicks and nothing goes into motion .I checked the thermal fuse and thermistor with meter and they are fine .Diagnostic test on door switch was fine .Checked resistance on P1-3 and P1-4 [light blue and dark blue wires] and thats where Ive come to a stop.The reading on lowest setting is 1.7 ohms.Tech sheet info . says to replace electronic controls if reading is between 1 and 6 . Does that mean the board is dead or do I keep going after that belt switch .Also,when he does the same test ,where is your technician putting the leads on his multimeter? it doesn't look like they are in the open holes of that cluster of 5 wires.

      I'm at same spot. What did you do? I know that this means the belt switch is closed (good) since your measuring motor resistance. So it seems board is not sending 120v to the motor circuit because if it was it would either move or make noise. I'm trying to figure out how to troubleshoot the board in order to repair or replace one of them. edit: when he pulled the P1 connector he backprobed the plug wires to touch the exposed metal clamping the wires - it doesn't make any difference if you do it this way or put the probes against the pins.

    • @jamesluntz1228
      @jamesluntz1228 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I figured it out... the tech sheet shows the "electronic controls" as the relay board located just as shown in the video. As so many of the other comments have shown, once I pulled the board out (one screw) and looked underneath it was obvious that the solder joint had melted (with black burn marks nearby). I'll be ordering a new relay today for ~$8 and attempting to solder it in myself. I found a service online that purports to fix boards for $100 too.

    I had similar issues with my dryer, but it looks like it is the thermal fuse. I noticed in your video there is a pad along the inside of the dryer next to the motor. It looks like the cause of my thermal fuse malfunction is from the pad inside the dryer falling on top of the pulley which caused the pad to heat up. I took the pad out. Is it important to have the pad inside the dryer or can I leave it out since it felled down already? Thank you for the video.

    Will this same Belt Switch replaced here fix the same problem in the Whirlpool GEW9250PW0. the reason I ask is because I have tried to contact Whirlpool about getting a replacement part so that I can fix my dryer and am told that there is no such part that attached to the idler pulley and maybe it is the main power board not sending power down the wire harness...I watched the video and saw the guy take the part off of this dryer and it sure seems to be doing the same thing that mine is doing and it looks like the exact dryer...just a different last number...

    So it did not start because of the belt switch? If I would have turned it off early I would have bought a circuit board. One video said it could be the fuse in front near the Thermistor? I have a Duet Model #WE083005W0 or TYPE DH2N-ELE-2406024-EL54.
    Does not start. Got a code of 03 or OE. I have it apart and ready to order the part. I live near Toledo so will call to see if you have the part.
    Once I figure it out what part it is! At least the dryer is nice and vacuumed out now.
    Oh I love the phantom screwdriver on the video and it even shows what way to turn, Cool. I did learn how to take apart the plastic wire connector!
    And it is nice to know the repairmen are human and a bit nervous and clumsy at times.

    First off GREAT VIDEO. I have the gew9250pw1, which I believe is the exact same one you've got in the video. When I try to run it, everything lights up as usual, and I hear it click. The sensing light comes on and then eventually the wet light comes on and that's it. I did the diagnostic and everything lit up red except for the cycle complete which lit up green. From what I've red online, I think that is normal.Ok so I now we get to the video. I took the top off and pulled the wire harness off. I tested the P3 and P4 just like you showed and got nothing. I checked some other stuff to make sure that it was functioning. Alright so now I'm at around 4:40 on the vid, where I need to take a lot of stuff off. I was wondering if you knew if that is the next step I should move on to. Just after hearing the extra info I gave you, does it make sense? Alright, I hope to get a response from you soon. Thank you either way.

    • @buddyfoster6698
      @buddyfoster6698 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I actually did fix it yes. I was completely impressed with myself too lol. What I ended up doing was taking my checker and going thru the wiring circuit and checking each point to find where it was broken. I've trying to go back and see what the name of the part was but I have to leave for work and so I don't have the time. It was just something small called like the heat sensor. Anyway I checked where the wire went in and where it came out and there was no connection. So I crossed my fingers, bought the part for just a few bucks on amazon and put it in and everything worked.

    This is great except you stopped at the belt switch. For those of us that have issues with another part are left hanging. Luckily I've done this once before and was using this mostly has a reminder of where the screws were but it would have been nice to at least give a rundown on like what the heating element is or the thermal fuse. But great video none the less

    So my front display is intermittent, on & off. Runs sometimes but beeps during the cycle. Now it gives me a PF error code. I hold down the start button, hear the click & beep, but it doesn't start up. I first thought of replacing the thermister, but now I'm thinking it the mother/control board. All tests on 220 outlet were normal. I have the same model as this video.

    Curious about the control panel in this video. My control panel has been acting screwy. The times allotted for cycles don't seem correct and it won't fire up. No clicking or anything. I took the top off, pulled the control board, cleaned it of any lint debris, reinstalled it, and it fired right up. Ran a few more loads and now I'm back to the same issues with the control panel acting screwy. have a feeling my issue is either control panel or control board related and wanted to see if you guys have any ideas.

      That fuse is a safety device. If it blew after one load and the unit got hot that is a indication of a plugged dryer vent. Replace the fuse and run a load with the dryer vent off. ***** Wow thanks for the quick reply! control lights go on but when start button is pushed it clicks and nothing goes into motion .I checked the thermal fuse and thermistor with meter and they are fine .Diagnostic test on door switch was fine .Checked resistance on P1-3 and P1-4 [light blue and dark blue wires] and thats where Ive come to a stop.The reading on lowest setting is 1.7 ohms.Tech sheet info . says to replace electronic controls if reading is between 1 and 6 . Does that mean the board is dead or do I keep going after that belt switch .Also,when he does the same test ,where is your technician putting the leads on his multimeter? it doesn't look like they are in the open holes of that cluster of 5 wires.
