The BEST Doctor Who parody you aren't watching

  • Doctor Who (not to be confused with Doctor Who) is a Doctor Who parody that is known for the way it pokes fun at the tropes of "diverse" and "inclusive" modern writing.
    In this video, I will be reviewing the Doctor and Rose's Ruby's immature adventure in Space Babies, wacky musical hijinks in The Devil's Chord, and festive silliness in The Church On Ruby Road.
    Doctor Who faces an uphill battle to beat the original show in the ratings. And since Season 1 is currently airing on Disney+ and BBC iPlayer, I urge you to give it a try.

    Bravo. This is probably the best video response I've seen to RTD's travesty. Superb points, really intelligent. The only thing I wish you'd mentioned is how "Space Babies" parodies "The End of the World", with identical scenes where Rose looks at the planet and gets her mobile phone upgraded and calls her mum.
    This video needs WAY more views and likes. I truly cannot understand why it has so many dislikes. I can only presume these are nine-year-old Disney fans who don't yet have any understanding of what constitutes competent fiction writing, or indeed what type of show Doctor Who is even supposed to be. Maybe they can't see how morally repugnant this show is, with its active stance against both men, white people, and British culture.
    Maybe these nine-year-olds don't notice the racism in Doctor Who because they live somewhere like America where it's normal to see black people everywhere, as opposed to England where they're extremely rare and the only explanation for there being so many cast n Doctor Who is racial discrimination, which has been often alluded to by the producers.
    As for the newer episodes, I will say that I actually liked "Boom", which surprised me as I'd heard it was terrible, so was fully prepared to hate it, but I didn't. Then 73 Yards is the worst episode of science fiction I have ever seen.

    The trouble with Dr Who, is that there are two critical factors for success. The actor, and the script. Some casting has been great - believable and realistic, and the best scripts are just great stories - ones you really gel with, that have twists and turns. When you get poor casting, even good scripts fail, and while a great actor can rescue a poor script, the average actors cannot. Sadly, the recent casting, for reasons other than acting ability was coupled with poor scripts trying to mimic limited appeal trends. It's killed Dr Who. You would never have given Baker, Eccleston and Tennant some of the ludicrous drivel the later doctors have had to work with, and sadly, they were just unable to prevent it looking like a cheap echo of previous Dr Whos.

    • @GorensteinMedia
      @GorensteinMedia  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Ah yes, glad you mentioned that. My proclamation that "Doctor Who is dead" was immediately followed up by "Long live Doctor Who." A play on the classic phrase: "The king is dead, long live the king!" (Or queen, depending on the context.)
      The reason it works describes this situation so accurately (in ways I didn't even realise at the time) is that it makes two points: firstly that Doctor Who (2005) is dead and buried, secondly that Doctor Who (2023) is its successor. We acknowledge the loss while simultaneously acknowledging the part of it that lives on.
      And if your point of contention is that "Doctor Who (2023) *IS* Doctor Who (2005). They are literally the same show!" I implore you to open iPlayer and tell me how many seasons each one has.

    • @friendlyotaku9525
      @friendlyotaku9525 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @EddGorenstein if that's what you're going for then I also don't agree since despite the official numbering Doctor Who (2023) is the same show as Doctor Who (2005) just like Doctor Who (2005) is the same as Doctor Who (1963). It's all Doctor Who as far as I'm concerned, the format may have changed over the years but it's still the same show as far as I'm concerned, heck despite this season being called "Season 1" it's full to the brim with references and returning characters from both Classic Who and revival! It's definitely renumbered primarily for the Disney+ audience.
      And when I say you I'm generally talking about the RIP Doctor Who lot, maybe you aren't like that I dunno but the video thumbnail and title did give that impression. So I do apologise if I got the wrong impression.

    • @GorensteinMedia
      @GorensteinMedia  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@UranusMcVitieFish-yd7oq The major focus of the video's disparagement of the current Doctor Who is that the Doctor is being played by a queer Black man. As a general matter, bigots feel threatened by the "other," leading to their bigoted words and deeds. Also, I can assure you that my bias against and revulsion for racists, homophobes, misogynists, etc., are in no way subconscious.

    • @mudcrab3420
      @mudcrab3420 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah. I mean RTD always mentions he is a queer as folk sort of person, yet in Episode 4 he takes a black gay man and completely removes him from existence so a straight white person can be centre stage.
      I mean... is RTD actually a hideous racist bigot?

    • @Scripture-Man
      @Scripture-Man 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      He isn't "threatened" by those things. He's annoyed with the black casting because it is QUITE CLEARLY racist. In a country where only 1 in 50 people are black, there is no way all those black actors would ever get cast unless there was a clear racial bias going on. You wouldn't normally expect to see hardly any black people on TV as they are a tiny minority.
      As for the second issue you mentioned, sadly TH-cam won't let people talk about that issue openly without deleting comments but the fact is that EVERY SOCIETY that has ever existed (with a tiny handful of exceptions) has seen what those men do as immoral and illegal.
      So the question is not why this man finds it objectionable - his reaction is absolutely normal. The question is why do so many people in the current society NOT find it objectionable? The answer is: an aggressive campaign of media brainwashing, combined with mass disinformation and the propagation of a completely false ideology.

    • @robertuiuiuiuiuiui

      @@Scripture-Man "He's annoyed with the Black casting because he is QUITE CLEARLY racist." There FIFY.
      Oh, and you're also quite clearly racist. Also misinformed: The Black population of Britain is about 2.4 million people, or about 4%. There are another 1.7 million or nearly 3% who are "mixed race," though that figure includes part-Asian heritage. There have been 17 Doctors. Two are Black, and two are women. Given that nearly 20% of Britons are people of color, and half are women, that's quite an UNDERrepresentation.
