- Ambulances carrying emergency patients will be able to do so quicker, with a new device that can turn traffic lights to its favour and clear their path to the hospital. This is among measures that the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) is taking, amid a 30 per cent surge in Emergency Medical Service calls. SCDF says to optimise resources amid the increased call volume, the wait time for an ambulance for non-emergency cases from Jul 31 can be expected to be 20 minutes. Aslam Shah reports.

Motorists must give way to emergency vehicles such as ambulance, fire engine, and police car when siren is on, and they should be able to go traffic light regardless. Introducing the new system is not required if all motorists understand this rule.

I like tis move....but wat about those bumpy roads....so much "pot holes" wun these affect the patients in the emergency vehicles?....obviously not much on ground QC checks on these road repairs....
Aiya simple, every call to scdf just say my grandma collaspe , u instantly get highest priority...... When scdf get there they have to treat u even if u only paper cut.
In emergencies like this, SCDF will remotely access your phone's camera such that you have to present the scene virtually through the camera. If there are repeated attempts of faking false call, SCDF reserve the rights to report you to the police for nuisance.

Most of the cases, ambulance rushes on roads. Hospitals may not attend to them first or have no capacity to attend to them. Why rush?😂
Depends on priority, if it isn't an emergency, they will treat you just as a walk-in patient. If highest priority, there is an emergency ambulance entrance for quick treatment.

1. There is a strict 11 minute response time from the moment they receive the call to the point they arrive on location. However if deemed a non-high priority, ambulance will drop them off at the A&E non-emergency area.
2. In certain situation, ambulance have to blast the siren and run the red light due to P1 priority status of patient's condition. In this case, there is P1 area at the A&E for direct treatment.
Also in case you haven't noticed, ambulance don't on the siren all the time, especially at night. There is a strict protocol on the usage of siren, lights and running the red light.
That is why it’s called an ambulance. Otherwise it’s called a van. They need to rush. May never know when patient health deteriorates.
