You actually can get a better bolter from Explorators (Annihilating Astartes bolter) very early in act4. It has a better damage and an ability to increase a crit damage by 10% with each crit until the end of combat. Also, if you max out the rep with Drusians, iirc, you get a Burden of Servitude bolt pistol, when you go to act5, with better damage and armour pen than Mezoa-Pattern one, and an ability to increase it's single shot damage by 50% with each burst (which stacks and remains until the end of combat). The drawbacks, however, are less ammo capacity (only 12) and a +1 AP cost for it's attacks (good thing AM can do a lot of free attacks). I have a question, tho. Is Perfection under fire really this good? I mean, it's only +5 to all stats, and Ulfar never dropped under 80% in my runs, even on Unfair (Calcazar's black ring is the most OP item in the game, lol). I personally like to get Extermination, which gives stacking flat damage increase with each attack, and since he's an AM, he can dish out a crap ton of extra attacks, especially with an Officer in a party.
Really looking forward to trying out this build! Thank you!
You're welcome!
using the build in my current playthrough and it truly is great, really makes ulfar feel like a proper SP.
I know, I was surprised while playing as well.
