Kayak should build a house replicating the presets in build mode, like the example rooms that you click on and it brings you to the columns, or the kitchen counters or whatever.
When building off of a real floor plan, I've heard to take whatever measurement that the room is and divide it by 2. So that would make one square equal 2 feet. I've done this a few times and it seems to work with a touch of flubbing here and there. So if the room is 8 by 9, make a 4 by 4, always round down. Seems to work for now.
I Love when you build something thats out of your confort zone because you get so creativy and its so fun and inspiring. So, that said, would be nice if next time you try to build a contemporary house based at floor plans :-) sorry my english
Given your normal style is farmhouse/blue house, I would LOVE to see what you come up with for a Mediterranean style from that website. There's some fantastic house plans to take inspiration from. Also, added bonus, I've never seen you have an inner courtyard in your builds so...added challenge? :D
Kayak: I'm gonna use this floorplan. Also Kayak: *immediately builds 3x1 bathroom instead of 2x2 bathroom, so ignoring the actual floorplan from the very first room.
I feel bad but I almost can’t watch these floor plan videos because she doesn’t read them correctly, surprisingly. My perfectionism is like “no no no that’s wrong” and I can’t just enjoy it.
@@sydmt8581 I feel bad, too. I'm "Nope! Can't watch her not follow a floor plan." She's too used to being inspired by an exterior, so when she tries to follow a floorplan I think she just doesn't enjoy it. She has admitted to not enjoying doing interiors, so following a floorplan is just not something she's going to excel at. I really, really enjoy her "strange shape" builds and love putting them in my saves. The plumbob house, the tooth, the ghost, the carrot and triangle, and so forth. With those it looks like she enjoys doing the interior and she goes all out on the decorations and nothing is remotely suburban and she uses things that you almost never see in her suburban builds.

Yeah. I feel like she needs to do a build using only packs like Batu or vampires and no base game. Every house is mostly base game, sometimes with some of the more suburban packs.
@@orionstargaze well she uses mostly basegame, because most people only have basegame+ 1or 2 packs. If you want to reach a broad audience, dont show nuclear physics - show basic maths. If the builds were made just for looking good, of course one could use more variety. An example of that would be the 1mio$ mansion she build, I think that one used every.single pack XD
I think the problem people have when they try to build from a floorplan is that they start with a big box that they *think* is about the right size, and then try to fit everything within that box. The best way to do it is to go room by room. And starting where the stairs is is good too, then working around it, because the stairs in the Sims 4 is pretty limited in size.

The ONE THING that really bothers me about her builds is that Kayla, building with UNLIMITED BUDGET, still chooses to place the cheapest double bed in the base game. THE OTHER ONES ARE PRETTIER, not to mention better for ur Sims. USE THEM PLS

Yes but you have to consider she really thinks about those who would want to buy the house and if she uses stuff that is thousands of dollars how is anyone supposed to afford it. Especially when the house is only made for 3 sims. That’s a lot of money
I think the issue is that the back of the house is concealed in the roof in the floor plan, the front is essentially a dormer, that hipped roof should go over the back of the second story, but only the lower part of the hipped roof would show on the one side allowing for windows.
everything she builds is a hospital colored blue. the only couches she uses are the white plastic ones. the only rugs she puts down are brown, and base game. i’m literally going crazy😃

So I love watching Kayla build, but everytime she does these “real floor plans” builds I cringe. She never recognizes the washer/dryer space or tries to follow the listed sizes and then questions why things look wrong 😔
Silly Kayla the stairs were marked being placed the other way, staring from the little hall by the bedroom downstairs! That’s why the upstairs didn’t work!!!
Please make a house that is as inconvenient as possible e.g. the front door leads to a bathroom/ you have to go through a bedroom to get to the dining room etc

I just wanted to leave a comment bc I thought it might be helpful I know you h8 garages when building in the sims but you've also talked about wanting a skill building/random bulky objects room in other videos so I wanted to share that what I do when I'm following a floorplan is I make it like a "converted garage" so I can put those things in there !
Please use items from different packs more! I know it's a strange request but I'm getting bored always seeing the same couple of items and especially those awful base game beds.
@@nottknormal We understand that and it is a nice gesture, but in terms of content it is getting a bit stale. Besides, we can always swap out a pack bed for the base game one when we download it, but the video keeps the same bed forever, know what I mean?

I did this for the first time recently and it was super cool because it was a historic floorplan from my own hometown! Not easy to replicate though because of the roof. A challenge I've been thinking of is to build the shell houses in debug! Like the ones you see in the background of all the neighborhoods but can't interact with :)
ive started and scrapped my real house in the sims so many times because its a long skinny rectangle with a porch all the way to one side. like its lined up with the side of the house. it looks awful in the game, i know i can change it but part of me is like "NO YOU HAVE TO MAKE IT EXACTLY HOW IT IS IN REAL LIFE EVEN THOUGH THATS NOT POSSIBLE". im just gonna give the sims house an extra side porch outside the bedrooms. make the box fancier.
Stairs go the other way(there was also basement stairs right there), also there was suppose to be a washer and dryer in the hall way that lead to the master bedroom. I would also kill for the masters bedroom on suit.
To be honest I think I would turn the office in to a living room, so the dining can be more spacious. But I love the weird shape and the color sceem! 😊

The proper conversion is about 1 tile = 3feet

This is pretty much how I build, room by room. I almost always have to make adjustments but it's a good way to start.
