Is the extra cost of SMILE justified by its marginal benefits over Myopic LASIK (if any)?
Why wouldn't you choose Trans prk over Lasik. I'm addition for Asian males, many do not have a stabilization of their refractive error till about age 23~24 (more so for those with higher amounts of myopia). However the topographic changes do change the peripheral retinal curves and this does have a mild myopia control effect. I know you won't reply on this platform

Hi how was your experience till now??
What was his age at the time of surgery. Please tell
Almost 18.
So your son was still 17 in that surgery ?? How many days till he turned 18 after that???
you can smell it.. I was shocked to smell my eyeball getting lazed.
Age limit for getting Lasik is ??
I'm 18 , I'm having Lasik in 3 weeks . WHATS YOUR OPINION GUYS. PLEASE BE HONEST.
How did it go?
@@Farmatarm it went super alright. It's been only 2 months now. I'm so feeling good ❤️❤️❤️❤️
@@saikiranb3688 ok thanks glad to hear it
@@Farmatarm Hey if you're planning for that. Don't be freaked out , it's just overthinking... If your doctor is affirmative, and a reputed person. You can go for it with zero hesitation 👍🏼👍🏼
@@saikiranb3688 awesome thank u I’m supposed to have it in a couple weeks I’m 19 was worried about the age lol
Are you performing the Relex Smile method as well? I just had my Femto Lasik 2 days ago and I was -1.0 (right) and -0.5 (left) with a -2.75 astigmatism, I wanted the Relex Smile method instead of Lasik before surgery but the doctor told me it wasn't possible as I'm not a candidate for Relex Smile, she explained to me that my numbers were not "bad" enough for Relex Smile basically.
Would you, as an expert, agree with that? I mean they would have even made more money offering me Relex Smile since it's the more expensive procedure but they did not.
I had the surgery done in Istanbul (Bati Göz)
We believe that LASIK results are better than SMILE results. We do not therefore offer SMILE.
@@ShannonWongMD Thank you for your answer! My i-Lasik was done using a Zeiss VisuMax and MEL 90 Excimer, on the day (20 hours) after surgery I had about 20/40 vision or slightly better, and I was permitted to drive without glasses or contact lenses. What do you think is the reason that some people achieve 20/20 vision the day after the procedure, while others may need weeks or months to achieve the same result? And if someone had 20/40 or 20/30 vision 1 day post surgery, how likely is it that these numbers are going to improve over the next couple of months?
Your videos on the topic of laser eye surgery are absolutely excellent.
@@kartiloco9929what are your opinions now?
i just had lasik done on february 1st. i’ve noticed my right eye has the scratchy “eyelash in eye” feeling when i blink and it’s 3 days post op. how long should that feeling last until its a concern? im using drops as instructed
6 months
welcome to lasik complications.
If someone gets the surgery done successfully,,, are there any chances that their vision changes again in the future??? And how much does it cost on average??
Absolutely there is a chance (certainty?) there vision will change in the future.
Maybe 20 years
My glasses are really foggy when im wearing glasses im considering this
Try contacts first
@@askhan12406 I heard contacts can lead to nasty eye infections, you have to take care of them and remember to remove them every day, and to bad dry eye. Is this true? Or only happens if you dont clean them properly?
@@kevinstefanov2841 I have been wearing contacts for 30 years and never had a eye infection. I use daily wear. I clean mine before putting them in everyday. I also wash my hands before handling my contacts or taking them out. I never put water in my eye or contacts case. I appreciate my contacts and the service they have given me. I hated glasses.
@@kevinstefanov2841 honestly I'd rather deal w an infection than risking a side effect from this surgery that can last a life time..
@@sweetyfri lately I've been trying out contacts and honestly they've been like a salvation from glasses
I dont think anyone will ever see this but I wanna get laser eye surgery when I turn 18 is that alright and how much money is it cause im getting a job
What do the lasers do?
The Doctor Uses a Computer to Program the Laser
The Laser Uses a Beautiful Series of Cool Ultraviolet Pulses, to Reshape the Corneas
As the Laser Fires, It Makes a Silky Smooth Clicking Sound
wow I am very happy that I am watching this video I was scared that is it good or not but when I saw it everything removed best wishis for you
Is lasik suitable for Boxers? I’m currently 18 and sick of using contacts getting them knocked out, I am fighting in March and want to get laser eye surgery ASAP. Is it safe to do so?
For a boxer, I would wait one month after surgery to resume boxing activity that would involve a punch to the eyes.
@@ShannonWongMD ok Thankyou appreciate it 👍🏻
I'm also a boxer, but i think prk is more suitable than Lasik cause it doesn't involve flaps
@@karan4624 cheers pal 👍🏻 just need it so i can actually see good and take shots without losing a lense 😂
Sir I am 18 this is right time in surzare What do you think plz tall me
BTW where is your institution?
Great video Shannon, quick question though.
Do you recommend me getting lasik eye surgery? I just turned 18 a week ago & my prescription is -1.75(L) -2.00(R). Thanks!
Question did you get it at 18? And if u did how did it go
Did you get it?
Hi Doc Shannon, im 34 a farsighted person..it start when i was 31. i cant read text on books and cellphone now. am i a candidate for a lasik surgery? ty
Farsighted people have a higher chance of complications. Do not get lasik.
@@thewonglifestyle1370omg really?! I’m 17 and my prescription is +2.75 (R) and +3.50 (L) and I have high astigmatism…do you still think it’s not a good idea?
You should do laser like correcting but why do they have to say surgery and not treatment ?
I was thinking about getting Lasik done. But I didn't get it since I have granular dystrophy :(
Good call.
Doctor I m just 20year old n I have cataract on my ryt eye

GREAT JOB DOC. I GOTTA HAVE EYE SURGERY COMING UP KINDA NERVOUS 😄😄
Why did he need eye surgery ?
how much
My eye power get increases everytime.
I'm sixteen and
My power is -7 and -7.5
Can I get surgery?😅
Best to have LASIK between 18 and 40 years of age.
Umm oh okay thank you😊for the advice
Do you recommend I get Lasik next year when I turn 18 or wait a couple more years??
Batter wait for you to turn 21, i have family that did lasik at 18, and now (age 20) he use glasses again because he gain more minus. i hear that when we turn 21 the eyes will be more stable, the minus might gain but will not be that fast, like gaining -0,5 for 25 years, it is become significantly slower. Better u do more research.. bacause im not a doctor, i just remember that i read something like that..
21 is the cut off, and you should have a stable Glass prescription for 1 year prior to surgery ie you shouldn't have had a change in prescription even once in the last one year.
@@souviksen7497 should I get laser eye surgery when turning 18 next year
@@stephenosborne1846 I don't perform LASIK for patients below 21 years of age. However, some of my colleagues have set 19 years old as their cut off. Main thing is you need to have had a stable Glass prescription for at least 1 year.
@@souviksen7497 Hi
I have all the pre lasik test. In the pentacam scan report my pupil size was 5.7
And my prescription is 7.75

18
How old is he? I want to do this but I’m 18.
He is 18.
Very Nice!! Really enjoyed this.
It looks like your whole family have a history of eye problems/diseases. Also what was the youngest patient you've ever performed cataract surgery on.
If you live to age 75, you will likely need eye surgery as well. Most of the surgeries on family members have been elective surgery to eliminate reliance on glasses. Cataract surgery is sometimes necessary in individuals who are younger than 18 years old.
