Pam, thank you very much for this video! It helps me immensely!
You are so very welcome! Glad to help and glad the information was useful! Thank you so much!
Pam thank you so much for sharing your video. You have just lighten my thoughts regarding what crops like shade & sun. Now i know what needs shade and what needs sun I'm glad i watched this. Thank you, thank you, thank you so much ❤️🌹😘
You are so welcome!
I just very recently have found you..... and I'm pretty glad about that! This is very helpful and appreciated. I had a container garden last year and loved it. This year we put things back into the ground and even though our veggies are growing, I much rather prefer a container garden.
I live in an apartment and this video and ur voice is exactly what I needed
Aaawww thanks
Just made coffee. I sit down and listen to your lovely, and soothing voice and great garden tips.....hi from South Australia😁
Hey there Ness thanks so much for your kind words! I really appreciate it?
I'm sitting here myself drinking my coffee learning myself. I love her channel bc she doesn't just ramble. Other channels have 35 min videos with only 7 minutes of quality information. I don't mind long videos but not with a bunch of filler.
Ouuuuu and I love cabbage
Your first tip about checking varieties was really useful. I never knew there were so many types of fruit and vegetables out there.
Yep! It sure is a lot. Thanks! Glad it was helpful
Pam Thank you for your video ! I am glad To stumble across your video. I reside in zones 7a/7b as well!
You and This Video is AWESOMENESS!!!!!!!
THANK YOOOUUUUU!!!!!!!
I'm grateful for your video. We have a huge tree that we can't cut down, that over the past 10 or 12 years has basically shaded our growing space. This is fabulous information, thanks!
I grow loose leaf lettuce in the dapple sun. I grow it all the way until August. Then I replant and grow until November. I live in zone 7a.
Thank you Pam. Our yard has a lot of shade.❤️✝️🙏
Thank you
You're welcome
Thank you.
Now I understand why I haven't been able to grow celery.
Same here!

Thank you so much for your knowledge of gardening.
So nice of you. You’re welcome
Great video. I have a spot in my yard that I am going to experiment with shady plants and see how they do.
You are awesome and full of good tips and know! I wrongly assumed all plants liked full sun. Ty❤
Oh there are all kinds for all kind of weather! Thanks
THANK YOU PAM I WAS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT TO DO ABOUT ALL THESE TREES!
Yes! Shade shade shade lol. Thanks so much
I have a better understanding of planting certain plants. Thanks so much for sharing
Awesome and thank you!!!
Thank you. I live in the middle of the woods. I have very limited sunny spots. I’m definitely going to try growing some of these. Especially the leeks and alpine strawberries.
Absolutely! Good luck to you and thank you so much for your support!
Hi Pam! I’ve got a nice list of shade loving veggie plants too. This is important. I had to move my celery to a half shade half sun area in my yard and they just off! I can tell their much happier.
Yep! That’s how I found out too! Thanks so much Connie! ♥️
HEY Pam!!! Just Sub'd...Gonna Start Binge Watch'n All Ur Vids....HERE WE GO....LOL
Awesome and Welcome to The Scaredy Cat Crew. Enjoy the channel (Container Crops) for more great videos ! 👀🍿Thank you so much for your support! 🍅🥬
This is a great list Pam. Check your varieties to know which like shade or heat. Thanks for sharing.💚
Thanks Crystal! Yes, a lot of fruits and veggies have versatile varieties! ♥️♥️
1) your voice is so sweet and soothing, first time running into you and gotta say, and that's a rare compliment from me lol. 2) I often with these will look though the parts before clicking to see if Im interested in the plants. You kept your sections vague which meant I had to watch. Gotta say, respect the hustle, made me click lol.
Welcome aboard! And thank you so much for your kind words
Excellent advice, thank you. I know you as a cooking video lady; this was a surprise.-xo
Aaawwww yes. My second love gardening. Welcome to The Scaredy Cat Garden 🪴
Thank you Pam for all your hard work in getting out these important facts. You are an inspiration to me!! I just can't find the time to research because I have been helping my 83 YO neighbor who went blind in one eye due to mycular degeneration. Please pray for both of us. She has no family to take care of her and she refuses any assisted help.. She is afraid of being put into a home, but God gives us strength to do our best for others and for the glory of His kingdom ❤
🙏🏽🙏🏽absolutely! And thank you Mari for your support!♥️
Great share. I place the few shade loving plants in the one shaded area I have. I will hide plants under the patio table to give them shade.😊🌱
That’s a good option too! Thank you so much!
@@TheScaredyCatGardener I will hide plants under other plants as well.😊🌱
Yeah, I'm in 7B, also
Awesome!! Thanks so much
I just found your channel and I instantly suscribed
Aaawwww thank you and welcome!!!
I just found you.I live in Kannapolis.Just subbed.Great content! Much appreciated.
Great information. I'm in FL and get plenty of sunshine, but my yard has three very large oak trees that shade half my yard. Cutting them down is not an option. It's been a long time since I have had a full garden. Been growing pineapples in the shade and they require no care at all really. Just toss them on the ground and they root and grow. Of course, it's a year or two before you will see a fruit. I have also grown them in containers, they just don't grow as big.
I haven’t tried pineapple yet. But I should!! Thanks so much Donna!
@@TheScaredyCatGardener You're welcome. You definitely should. They are so sweet and juicy. Easiest thing to grow. One just has to be patient.
Wow I'm not a gardener I didn't no that aboutvegetable's that grow well in the shade
Yes plenty of them do!
Do you get any snow or ice where you live? Just wondering if it would kill the winter plants.
❤️❤️
❤️❤️
I guess this explains why I have been unsuccessful with growing celery. I don't have a shady spot in my yard. No mature trees, no porch or awning.
Hey Cassandra. Watch the pattern of the sun. When it rises and over what part of your yard and how long it takes to reach up against your house. And the same when it’s setting. Typically (although not all) up against the house there will be a fair amount of shade. Either in the morning or evening. So maybe put your plant as close up against your house as possible. The house should provide some shade by its shadow. Thanks so much
Campanion plants.
Did not know about cauliflower
Ummmhmmm! Still so much to learn. Thanks so much
Do any (or all) of the shade loving/tolerating plants able to stand HEAT? I'm talking about 105F in the shade! Zone 9b
Some do. Depends on the plant and the variety. Thanks
I'm trying broccoli in the shade this year, so hoping it does well.
My broccoli is getting wrecked this year ... Seems to me the ones doing the best are just abnormally strong or the ones growing under my bean plants seem to tolerate this high heat better...
But like 80% of my 🥦 is gonnnne !! Lol . Ah well...
@@TheSnackAttackingSnorlax ohhh noooo
Hey there. Yes your bean plant is providing the shade the broccoli needs! Thank you so much
Yes. It turns to hot to quick here but it will be in my fall garden! Thank you so much
Are you trying to think of fillers?
My bib lettuce did not do well at all…pitiful…..and even my kale didn’t do well. All went into the compost pile. But my swish chard is doing Ok, not great but I can dehydrated what I have. I’m grind them up for a powder and sprinkle over salads, soups and other dishes
Hey Connie. Try those plants in your fall garden. I have only had success in the fall never in the spring. I forgot…. What zone/state are you in 🤔. I’m in zone 7B. And I will be planting my seeds for those directly outside in mid September in a shady area. Thanks so much
@@TheScaredyCatGardener I’m in Zone 6b, Michigan. I forgot about planting them in fall. I can do that, and will. Thanks for the reminder!!
