- The Thousand Islands are more than 1,800 islands in the St. Lawrence River, along the border between United States (New York State) and Canada (Ontario). This scenic area was a retreat for the elite in the late 19th century, and today is a popular tourist destination. The most famous between many beautiful island mansions in the area is the Boldt Castle on Heart Island.
Recorded May 2016 and October 2017 in 4K Ultra HD with Sony AX100.

When I was younger we used to go to the 1000 Islands in the summers. I had 2 uncles who purchased an Island from a old German gentleman just after WW2. There was one great big white house (with no electricity!)on it,a couple of docks, an outhouse and loads of trees. A kids paradise! My one uncle had 9 kids, my other uncle had 4 and we were 5 kids. So it was 18 kids and our parents and the dogs playing and swimming all day and sitting around the fireplace at night after dinner watching the parents drink black coffee,smoke Lucky Strike cigarettes and then onto the cocktails and beer! Ill forever remember the sounds of the boats far off in the distance and the herons croaking as the the water gently lapped against the dock at night. We had epic softball games on the lawn and hours of swimming and exploring! What fantastic times we had there. Some days we'd go to Alexandria Bay while the parents got supplies on Deere Island and then we'd take a boat ride around all these beautiful islands.
It was Huguenot Island and it's still in the family but I've not been there since 1978!!!
What a delightful paragraph to read. I have been in the 1000 Islands every summer since 1975. Im single with no family so many years its just me. But that place has entrenched itself into my soul. Ill die there.

If you ask me for Narnia fans like myself, Bondt Castle looks kinda like Cair Paravel (The Castle of the Four Throne).
Loved the views of these islands in Saint Lawrence River! Very clean & green! So many trees in North America! Wow!

I camped, fished, and vacationed the thousand islands every summer throughout my childhood and noticed many of the island homes shown in this video. This place is magical and has left an indelible mark on my physique as I’m 52 years old now and far removed from this beautiful place. Thank you for the video!

A paradise. I visited my friend in Alexandria Bay and took a boat tour. It was October. The beauty of the region left me speechless.

I know, it's ridiculous, and there is no accounting for taste. However, I did learn some good news regarding the 'dislike' button. It counts as an interaction, same as the 'like' button, so the only thing a dislike really hurts is the feelings of the creator and fans of the video who feel it is undeserved. That's some consolation, anyways.

My father and I stopped here for a day on our way from Montreal to Detroit heading south through Michigan and then west towards Nebraska to see family and then eventually going further west for a couple weeks trip out to Wyoming and Yellowstone and a few other places. But when we were here in Kingston we rented a boat and went out into these islands for a couple hours. It was really nice and the water looked so clean. A really beautiful place. I was 17 when we did that. I'm 44 now and my father has since passed away. It was a good memory and we had a pretty good trip. I'd love to go back here but I have my doubts that I'll ever get another chance. But I guess it's better to have seen it once than to have not seen it at all.

This is the first time I have seen decent footage of this area, I have seen it in photos and Google Earth but never in this detail. Many unusual buildings, almost Disney Land on water, great stuff.
Unusual buildings are melted bricks buildings from the old world no doubt.

My mother was born on the St. Lawrence in a houseboat in 1922. My grandfather died on the St Lawrence when my mother was only 12 years old. He and a friend we're carrying medical supplies from Alexandria Bay, New York to Gananoque, Ontario while the river was covered in ice. They were on an iceboat he had invented but fell through a weak spot in the ice and perished.

I live here, I grew up in Gananoque, gateway to the Thousand Islands 🇨🇦
This whole part of New York and into Canada is still one of the best kept location secrets to this day. Half my family is from Point Peninsula which is about 35ish or so minutes away from Alex Bay where a lot of this is shot and it is truly an amazing place. Without doubt my most favorite place ever.
