Oh I’m early!! Can’t wait to watch! Your videos are a huge comfort Danielle! Thank you so much for all the effort you put into them! And heres to endless amaryllis bulbs!! ❤️
So funny, Danielle...I love it you being surrounded around all those wonderful amaryllis! It's like a beautiful romance for Amaryllis bulbs. 🥰 Today I was just at my local garden nursery and bought yet another one to add to my collection that's in dormancy right now. It's a little similar to the Alaska but named Marilyn. I used to be so nervous about trying to get my Amaryllises to rebloom and you have certainly helped me with that. 😅 Thank you for continuing to post these helpful videos and share your shopping experiences with us...Happy Amaryllis gardening!
You're not crazy 😘 I think what you're seeing is that that amaryllis is a very pinky red, definitely more on the bluish, almost cool side of the spectrum as opposed to the orangey reds or reds with more yellow in them. Enjoy ❤
Oh Danielle, you have taught me so much! I’m addicted to amaryllis now and I’m loving it. My Apple Blossom amaryllis has six big flowers on it and it has more buds coming. Thank you for being the very best teacher ever! ❤
Great to see videos from a fellow amaryllis addict! I can't pick just one as my favorite, but I'm really looking forward to seeing a new one I just purchased, Cybister Bogota, bloom for me this year. Did you see that Longwood Gardens is having an amaryllis floral design class in January? It looks fun!
Any thoughts on disinfecting bulbs with bleach? Martha Stewart used bleach water to disinfect irises rhizomes. I was wondering if I can do that with amaryllis bulbs.
I put my bulbs into dormancy in November so they bloom in January/February. It really brightens up the dreary days of winter! I think I'm going to have to order Alaska...what a beauty! By the way, Sweet Nymph is my absolute favorite!!!
Are you kidding? I don’t have a favorite…I love ALL the blooms. I guess being a mother and 65 years old I just can’t play favorites so I buy whatever I find that makes me smile each year! Hunny thinks I don’t have room for any more plants of any kind inside or out but as long as I’m breathing I’m buying. Looking forward to seeing all you new blooms!!!:):):)
Hi Danielle, you crack me up! Instead of getting one charisma bulb I got 3 lol the smile on your face! Priceless lol. Can't wait to see them in the gold bowl Crane sent you. Magical touch looks red to me but there's a little pink glow to it! I love the dancing queen and Alaska too. It's truly impossible to pick just one! Best of luck with your new collection. Unfortunately I won't be home for Christmas this year so I am really looking forward to all your amaryllis blooming and your Christmas festivities. 😍
Hi Danielle, Love your enthusiasm for amaryllis! Last year my favorite was Gervase. This year I ordered Double Doublet. "An unusual, eye-catching amaryllis with narrow petals and candy cane stripes. Each flower is a little different, with variations in petal width, markings and petal count." I hope my bulbs from last year will bloom again - Terra Cotta Star, Blossom Peacock, Alfresco and Red Pearl.
Danielle, about this time last year, I started watching your channel to learn more about reblooming amaryllis. And then I kept watching for the cut flower gardening. I am excited to see your new shed. You are a lovely young woman and I enjoy watching you. 🥰
Me too! I bought three bulbs for me and three for my mother in law for Christmas. They didn’t bloom until March. But everyday we would share each other’s progress. It was so much fun!
Magical Touch does appear to be cherry red to me as the Longfield website says. However, it does appear to have a pink center. I wonder if the white in the petals are giving your eyes the illusion of hot pink? Also, I'm curious if it looks more pink in person than in photos. 🤷🏻♀️🍒 🌸
I planted an Amaryllis bulb from Home Depot called Apple Blossom last year Christmas season und it finally flowered in February and I really loved that because at Christmas I have so much going on with decorations in my house but in February for Valentine’s Day I felt like I was able to enjoy the blooms even more because there were no other distractions. I will do that again this year
You are the sweetest! You get me all excited about amaryllis. I was given a white amaryllis encased in wax and it bloomed! What a thrill. Well I gave it to my Daughter Roxanne so she could enjoy when it bloomed. . . and two days ago one of my neighbors gave me her amaryllis in wax. . . she said she wasn't really interested in it. Thank You Jesus! I'll have to find out how to care for the ones in wax. Keep up the exciting work. Continued Blessings!
Some of my favorite standout varieties: Rilona, papillio, exotic star. My Rilona bulb sent 3 flower stalks up at once and they all bloomed the same time. It was a breathtaking mass of salmon colored blooms. I had to document it with a little 360 video!
I just bought rilona and exotic star a couple of weeks ago! Rilona has a flower stalk coming up and exotic star's leaves are growing. I'm excited to hear you like them, I bought them totally on a whim instead of the variety I was originally looking for.
Hooray! I only grow hippeastrum johnsonii now. We call them St. Joseph lilies. (I have too many, 60/plus offsets, all salvaged from an old homesite in the woods), but am going to get a “real” amaryllis this year. Something pink, and white. Thank you for your videos.
Red Pearl is the most gorgeous velvety red. It’s the only amaryllis that made it through the summer and I’m hoping I can get it to rebloom. Thank you so much Danielle for your informative videos. That’s how I found you a few years ago when looking up amaryllis care. I love your enthusiasm for amaryllis. ❤
Danielle is most excited when surrounded by amaryllis in bulb or flower! I decided to pollinate and grow amaryllis from seed with you, my little plants are 1/3 the size of yours but are happy and healthy.
Danielle: "But how can you really pick a favorite amaryllis?" (Cuts to her surrounded by a million bags of amaryllis) Me: LOL 😂 Danielle, Thanks for sharing all your extensive amaryllis knowledge. I always learn so much from you. You are a gift. Enjoy all your new bulbs!
Hi Danielle! Great videos on amaryllis plants. My question is it seems some of my bulbs actually seem smaller when I pull off the brown outside skin. How do you keep getting your bulbs to grow bigger. I put them outside all summer and bring them in in Sept. I live in MN. Not sure what I'm doing wrong?
First year growing these. I accidentally woke up the bulbs by soaking them. Had nonidea what i was doing till i started researching them. They are growing like crazy now. Yay!! Candy cane they will be so pretty!! Can't wait!!
You got me hooked on Amaryllis and have ordered quite a few this year. I love Magic touch too so ordered three, I love Gervais as well, it's one of my favs. Thank you for another great video, love your channel!
Hi Danielle, after watching your videos about amaryllis i got 4pcs 32cm bulbs here in Netherlands and i will get again 2 redlions soon, i even bought 7bulbs for my mom, and omg i cant stop now from buying,😂😂😂
I have joy watching your You Tube, you strike me as being kind, a great reprieve from my almost always hard days. My work is hard, I am a nurse, I wish I could grow my garden every minute every day. Thank you for being a calm, bright spot, for me at least.
My brian is on fire as soon as you mentioned growing them from seed. I'm about to have 21 different varieties in my collection when the next shipment comes. I also have an orchid growing station in the basement holds about 100. I can easily tuck the seedlings in to experiment my own varieties. Oh my God I can't wait for them to start blooming😝😝😝
I bought my first amaryllis ever (I’m not sure if I have ever seen one bloom in real life) and it is Gervase! I loved all the colors on it which I thought was super pretty and I’m glad that you love it too! I’m hoping it’ll give me a nice pink for Valentine’s Day!
Ger - vais - French so Ger is soft G as in Genre , kind of like a soft J and Vais - said "Vay". So the closest to real French we would say it would be like "Jervay" . Love it Danielle all those bulbs > R these ones just for you or to sell at the stand ? So funny 😂
I love your amaryllis videos! So dangerous for me! Lol! My 2 favorite garden centers just posted that they got them in and I am avoiding going because I know I will get carried away! I grew Magical Touch last year and I think it is more hot pink. Especially if it is sitting next to any of the other red ones. Elvas and Gervase are on my list for this year. I also lost my double white last year so I should probably get a new one of those. And Charisma is gorgeous so I should get that too. I have some seedlings going too. Started on Nov of 2021 and they vary from just a 1/4” diameter to about 1” diameter. I haven’t let them go dormant yet, but some were looking a bit like they wanted too so I just up potted half today and put the other half in darkness to see what they do. I love them all but recently I have been really into my Terra Mystica and thinking about getting more to make a bigger pot full.
I’m sure the amaryllis bulb growers have increased their businesses because of your enthusiasm and love for them. Last year, I watched your segment and ordered Yellow Star, Gervaise, and double sweet nymph. I didn’t plant them until late November but they so brightened January and February. I planted the yellow star outside (we live in zone 8B) in the spring and had the other two in pots outside. How long should I leave the 2 pots in dormancy? I am thinking of ordering the Alaska and Dancing Queen. What a wonderful, beautiful addiction!!
This is so exciting! I love watching you plant and show off your amaryllis. I currently have 5 very large red lions. Do you have any tips on keeping them small? They're overgrowing my balcony. 😅 P.s. I also thought magical touch was hot pink instead of red. Maybe the color simply looks different depending on the lighting and surrounding colors. 🤔
I share your amaryllis addiction! I ordered a lot this year also and I am thinking of ordering more. I grew Magical Touch last year and it even sent up an extra bloom this summer! It truly is GORGEOUS! I’ d have to say it is a dark reddish pink.😀
Hello! I have a question, I have a bulb of Amaryllis Opal Star, which this is the second year of it growing, my issue is that it never bloomed when i got it. I though no biggie, ill let it grow maybe it needs streght. It sat in the greenhouse all year, was fertilized but although the bulb grew a tone of new roots it didnt really increase in size. It didnt shrink either. So in october i forced it into dormancy and it woke up back again in December last year 2023 but again it was only foliage. Im wondering what I can do to get it to grow, increase in size and actually flower. Or are some bulbs just duds and getting them to flower is a really difficult task?
I bought from Amaryllis & Caladium Bulb Company from the unboxing..Harlequin..Alfresco..Rozetta. They're all gorgeous in this unboxing, but that's to be expected. Look forward to seeing how you arrange them this yr. I bought apple blossom at a nearby garden center, never bloomed, I saved it hoping it will this yr. I really hope the carpenter works out, I want to hear the backstory. By the way, I feel like I should have been born in 1938 instead of 1958.
Hi Danielle, Magical Touch does look hot pink to me in the photos. Red is difficult to capture with the camera. Thank you for sharing these beautiful blooms with us. Considering purchasing MT. My personal top picks are Red Pearl, following close is Gervase. Julie
every summer i put my amaryllis bulbs outside where they receive morning sun. they get rained on etc. Zone 5B Ontario, Canada. i bring them in October 1 for their dormancy so they will bloom in January or February. i I notice that i am loosing half of my bulbs now. the bulb is shrinking to 1/3 or less of its original size,. Could this be a watering/too much rain situation? The pots do have drainage holes. I have lost some really nice ones and hoping to save the new ones from this year. BTW, in Canada we have such a limited selection of amaryllis bulbs. I look at the American sites and wish I could buy them but they don't ship here. Oh well, Thanks for any help you can offer.
Oh! I just love your videos on amerillas I went to Walmart and bought some bulbs what a mistake, they were left out where the bulbs got wet most were rotting but they were $5.95 as the big ones are expansive anyway I know better now I did clean them up used lots of cinnamon hopefully they will bloom and I’ll see if I can get a calaogue from long field gardens thank you 🙏👍👏🌹😘
Hi, Danielle -- I have a question, off topic. My tall purple Alliums dried naturally in my basement and suddenly I noticed the small seed pods open, so I harvested the seeds. I'm wondering if I should plant them in February/March indoors and get the seeds started for Spring planting? Have you ever grown them from seeds?
I watched the first section twice but I missed the information, wgere you put them all? In pots like usual or is there something planned? Thank you and happy Gard.. Amaryllising! 😄
I picked up an Elvas this year. It’s just getting ready to bloom - the bud sheath is half way open and I can see it will have 4 flowers on that stalk with another stalk starting to grow. I also picked up a Charisma. The other 3 new ones I picked up are Sweet Star, Hercules and Grand Diva. I can’t wait to see that one in bloom! It’s a deep burgundy 😍
This was fun to watch! I ordered three from amaryllis and Caladium's site... I bought Appleblossom, Alfresco, and Candy Floss from them. I know you already have a lot of bulbs, but where will you be starting all of these and those? I'm up to 7 now, and two of the new ones, have bulbettes, which really makes me excited! Happy growing!
I've been watching all of your amaryllis videos for a couple years and I am hoping this will be the year mine will rebloom. It's setting out in the garbage in a dark corner right now. 👍
Hi Danielle - I have only one amaryllis bulb that I have had for years and it blooms for me every year. Can you share links or repeat recommendations for size of pots to use to plant new bulbs. I keep trying to thrift some pots but never remember to bring my measuring tape with me. Spending $20 for a pot is not in the budget but thrifting 4-5 pots at $2-$4 each is affordable.also how to paint the pots to match once I get them? I am looking at heave ceramic or clay pots.
Since following you a year ago I have been learning so much from you. So I bought 2 large bulbs and I saved several from last year. I’ve got them in a light window and I have several with 3-6 inch leaves. My question is why some leaves are long and thin and they droop over?
Thank you for sharing your amaryllis. I have saved 5 from last year, I lost the labels and can't remember which ones they are, I love a surprise. I bought apple blossom (a favorite), picaso, a dark red one and a red and white one.
I really enjoyed this video, I get as much pleasure out of you unboxing as if it were I doing it. I have bought 4 new amaryllis this year because of your enthusiasm that got me, I do hope they will grow. As of yet, not seeing much movement. I planted them about a week ago and they are sitting on my windowsil above the radiator. I did soak the roots for 24 hrs. I have also brought 4 out of dormancy including 1 that flowered in August, I didnt know the 3 month thing of course. I only planted them up a few days ago and they are already showing some growth. I didnt soak the roots on them. I also didnt feed them during the summer so still hoping they will flower. I dont have a favourite as of yet however having seen the pic of the Gervais you showed, that would certainly be one that I would really like and I also like peach coloured ones. I have to say, I am not actually fussed on your Magical Touch one, whilst I do like the frilly petal the colour is not so different to others. To me it also looks red but maybe if I actually saw it up close then maybe it is hot pink but, either way not a favourite. Its good though that we dont all have the same taste. Thank you for showing the unboxing and look forward to seeing the planting up. Sending best wished from Searby, N. Lincolnshire, England.
Hi Danielle I bought a shelf of red lions, a few white, red striped one. I sterilized soil then wiped the bulbs 1:4 3percent hydrogen peroxide have a window box of seedlings I replanted. My big bulbs I put to sleep and sterilized then dried in my garage. I'm going to put them in paper bags then put them in the veggie drawer for a few months. I'm in ohio
I talk myself down from buying more and then I watch one of your videos 🤣 I just potted up 3/4 of the ones I kept from last year. Fingers crossed they rebloom.
Hi, why would my amaryllis bulbs be much smaller after the first year? They end up with very thick basal plates, and some research I found said to trim them. Is this something you have done?
My favorite is amaryllis papilio which I believe is a species :) Definitely the coolest one. Do you have a guide on how to put them into dormancy and how to break dormancy / how long to wait?
I was able to get most of my amaryllis to rebloom this year but many of the bulbs only produced one stem with two blooms on each stem, such a disappointment. Please advise me on getting a better show next year. Thank you
I didn't realize amaryllis like a smaller pot. Would it be okay to repot it right now? The leaves on mine are about 6 inches tall so far. Would repotting it now stop the growth for this year?
Danielle, do you fertilize your amaryllis once they start to grow? I've seen other videos where they fertilize every other week. I do use potting soil that has food in it but wanted to get your opinion. Thanks.
i had to throw my collection of over 150 amaryllis away this year due to a bad mealy bug infestation they got while outside this summer.wondering if i could have saved them? starting over is fun too.
I live in northeast Texas and do not know how or when to rest the bulbs here we have no basement and small cabin with bright light windows. Could you help me with a solution if there is one. Thank you so much. You and your garden are so beautiful
So exciting and thanks for the info on the late summer boomer- my Picasso did that. I love the peachy- pink varieties and added Rilona and Zombie to my collection this year but Grandiose Fantasy was sold out 😢. ❤ Terra Cotta Star
I wish I had more places I could put more amartyllises. I grew Magic Touch the past 2 years and it did great. I'm hoping my Princess Claire reblooms for me this year. She is so elegant! I have soft colors in my home so I don't like bright red varieties. The softer colors speak to my heart. But I loved that deep maroom one you showed. I think it's name was Red Pearl.
I will have to check out Princess Claire! What a great name! I’ve always heard that once the flower bud is evident it’s best to move them off the heat and not direct sun to prolong the bloom life. Then back to lots of sun after blooming to help the leaves.
Excellent selection!!! Would it be OK to keep some of these amaryllis in their bags to plant them after the holidays so you can have blooms during later winter and early spring?
Definitely friend!!! I have kept some new bulbs in the basement for up to 3 months with no problem. If you plan to hold them I would order ones from the northern hemisphere. They will store longer. The ones from the southern hemisphere want to push the blooms immediately. I would not recommend storing those too long❤️ I have planted all my southern hemisphere bulbs and will hold the northern hemisphere bulbs until after Christmas.
Thank you very much for your response. It helps me a lot. I'll do as you recommend. I currently live in Germany where we get all our bulbs/plants from Holland, so I guess I'm good in keeping some bulbs for after Christmas. Thanks again. I always enjoy your content!!!@@NorthlawnFlowerFarm
please make a video of you planting all these hundreds of amaryllis….. My husband thinks I’m nuts for buying 10 😂
Oh I’m early!! Can’t wait to watch! Your videos are a huge comfort Danielle! Thank you so much for all the effort you put into them! And heres to endless amaryllis bulbs!! ❤️
That's how I am with Orchids!!❤

I took your advice the day you was talking about longfeild. I ORDERED SOME FROM THEM AND LOVED WHAT I GOT.
Praying for you.
Happens all the time...they say red and I see hot pink 💗 😊

I really only like red lion. And marquise. But lots of them
Any thoughts on disinfecting bulbs with bleach? Martha Stewart used bleach water to disinfect irises rhizomes. I was wondering if I can do that with amaryllis bulbs.
Not red or pink to me, but perhaps coral ❤!
Naw, def red
I put my bulbs into dormancy in November so they bloom in January/February. It really brightens up the dreary days of winter! I think I'm going to have to order Alaska...what a beauty! By the way, Sweet Nymph is my absolute favorite!!!
Yes!!!! Such a good one!!! Did you get tons of flowering stems from Sweet Nymph??? Mine got 5 the first year!!
Hey, Danielle…it blooms magnificently. I think this is the third or fourth season for these bulbs.
Are you kidding? I don’t have a favorite…I love ALL the blooms. I guess being a mother and 65 years old I just can’t play favorites so I buy whatever I find that makes me smile each year! Your enthusiasm is so contagious! Im getting the itch to go buy more ameryllis! 😍

Yahoo!!! Christmas came early for Danielle 😉

amaryllis on a larger scale.

oh, and I saw that WM even had their's in too... some really nice looking buds sticking up, I may have to snag one of those too, for $6.

i'm gonna get some for my 5th grade class. so beautiful!
What a great idea!
Such a cute video Danielle! Made me smile all the way through!
My favourite is red dragon, which is a bright red double amaryllis.
I love your amaryllis videos! So dangerous for me! Lol! My 2 favorite garden centers just posted that they got them in and I am avoiding going because I know I will get carried away!

Oh Danielle, you are the amaryllis queen! Can’t wait to see them all in bloom!
This is so exciting! I love watching you plant and show off your amaryllis.
I currently have 5 very large red lions. Do you have any tips on keeping them small? They're overgrowing my balcony. 😅
P.s. I also thought magical touch was hot pink instead of red. Maybe the color simply looks different depending on the lighting and surrounding colors. 🤔
Hi friend! You might enjoy a nymph amaryllis. They stay shorter. I highly recommend sweet nymph if you like pink.
@@NorthlawnFlowerFarm ooo! Thanks for the tip 😊👍
Hi Danielle thanks for sharing I went onto the website and magic touch looks hot pink to me!!!
Whew!!!! Thank you!
I share your amaryllis addiction! I ordered a lot this year also and I am thinking of ordering more. I grew Magical Touch last year and it even sent up an extra bloom this summer! It truly is GORGEOUS! I’ d have to say it is a dark reddish pink.😀
Oh my... but you know you can never have too many plants or flowers.❤❤
Pls provide the name and author of the book
Zone 5B Ontario, Canada. i bring them in October 1 for their dormancy so they will bloom in January or February. i
I notice that i am loosing half of my bulbs now. the bulb is shrinking to 1/3 or less of its original size,.
I’m trying Candy Cream this year. I can’t wait to see you pot all of yours up 🤩
I may need another house just for amaryllis….
Hi Danielle
I bought a shelf of red lions, a few white, red striped one.
I am noticing on a few of my bulbs (Minerva or red lion) that the foliage has suddenly flopped over. No blooms yet. Any suggestions? Thank you
I bought a red nymph amaryllis from Dutch Grown! It’s supposed to be a red double amaryllis! I haven’t planted it yet, but I’m excited!
I have never grown amaryllis and I am completely intrigued. I am going to have to give it try. ❤ They all look beautiful.
Hi beautiful we can't get 99% of those in Canada
Very expensive to import!
I have an amaryllis that has several daughters, what do I do with them. Do I take them off and plant them and is the mother bulb going to die?
You are amazing ! Love to watch your videos about Amaryllis! ❤
My favorite is Dancing Queen, and Magic Touch would be my second.
I think you have a more sophisticated definition of colour, I can see why you would call it hot pink but to most of us mortals it's red
Everyone sees color differently. My Mom and I argued about colors all the time.
I think there are many different shades of red, it certainly is not a deep red - more of a rouge or lipstick red. Very beautiful!
I love my charisma! The bulbs all had 2 flower stalks the first year I grew them 😊
They are all so beautiful. I will be watching you plant these. Can't wait for the color show.
Love ur Amaryllis collection. My favorite is Grand Diva!
Dancing queen bloomed this summer for me too. I'm hopeful it will rebloom for both of us.
So exciting and thanks for the info on the late summer boomer- my Picasso did that. I love the peachy- pink varieties and added Rilona and Zombie to my collection this year but Grandiose Fantasy was sold out 😢. ❤ Terra Cotta Star
It's my first year growing an amaryllis! I'm growing Minerva :)
Where is the best place to put them once they bloom?
I will have to check out Princess Claire! What a great name! I’ve always heard that once the flower bud is evident it’s best to move them off the heat and not direct sun to prolong the bloom life. Then back to lots of sun after blooming to help the leaves.
Thanks Danielle! I put my amarylllises in their pots outside for the summer. I hope this will help them bloom this winter. ❤ And I love her name too!
Oh my goodness! Have fun!
Wow! You have the most beautiful Amaryllis.
Danielle that was so funny 😂 and so true . I started watching your channel and I’m addictedto your channel and Amaryllis. Thank you
