I tried this foundation years ago and I couldn't get it to work for me and then I worked at sephora and learned that you are supposed to swirl the brush into the product for about a minute because what it does is warm up the minerals and makes it more creamy rather than powdery and that's how you get it to have more coverage
Britney Cayton Shelby Wilson used to work for Bare Minerals and has some great how to’s with it. The big thing is skin prep. The creamy part cones from really working it into the skin, assuming you have moisturizer on your skin. She did one in real time so you could see how much buffing was required. Taylor totally has the apply a little at a time bit part. I love it but it isn’t Double Wear. I do what LisaLisad1 does. I layer thin layers of several products. For example this is awesome over Shiseido Sport bb. Nice.
I actually use about 20x more of product than she did. It gives me full coverage instantly. Next time she should dump out more. She may have better luck!
I found honestly that the actual bare minerals brush is way different then any other brush I own! I used to have cystic acne as well and this worked great on my skin! It looked so natural, but gave me full coverage!
The kabuki one? If so then same. It's so unique and only brush that worked for me to get that shit powder to cream kind of affect when I effortlessly and firmly buff into the skin. I will used it for 10+yrs and am thinking of buying more for those days I want a quick makeup application.
Figures - I had a set for years and figured it was time to retire them so threw them out. Haven't been using powder foundation much lately but now I'm super curious to compare their brushes to other makeup brushes. I know I've seen some of their brushes in TJ Maxx & Marshalls.
I just came here to say this! The kabuki brush always worked the best for be and my bareminerals powder. I think it makes a difference that she used a synthetic brush too?
This is my go to foundation after accutane. I had the same problem as you. I do not do the swirl tap buff I put the product in the cap and pick it up with a very dense brush and pack it on. I get almost full coverage and I have a lot of freckles. My redness never comes through with the method I use.
Miranda S this is what I do too. I still have mild acne, and this covers it well with a little spot concealing. I kind of pack/stipple it, then buff it out. Usually one or two layers does the trick.
This is what works for me too, lately I use either a flat top or slightly domed foundation blender and it’s perfect. I used to use a fluffy kabuki as well. Specific moisturizers like Burt’s Bees with spf really help me achieve the dewy look I love about liquid foundations.
I use to use this for 10yrs and the ONLY way I could make it work was with the bare minerals kabuki brush. You have to use more product than they suggest for sure and really buff in firmly as you apply. It turns almost into a cream when you do this and builds beautifully and is so quick once you get the hang of it. It will look so airbrushed and natural with that brush.
Completely agree! I'm always trying different foundations, and I used bare minerals on and off since high school (I switch up with liquid foundations, used to love mac prolongwear and covergirl superstay 3-in-1 - I need a new holy grail). Haven't used it in several months, but it usually gave great coverage as long as I used one of the bare minerals kabuki/buffing brushes. I forgot that I need to repurchase :)
One of my best friends SWEARS by this foundation and her face always looks amazing after using it...then I tried it and I looked like the Sahara Desert lmao 🤦🏼♀️
Look up a video on how to use the product. You really have to buff the product into the brush and buff it into your face. Like tap the product into the lid and buff it into the brush with circular motion until you don't see anymore product in the lid. This gives me high medium and glowy coverage
When I try it in other people it looks great, on me doesn't look so good. It emphasize my pores the more I buff the product in the skin. But I do love this product but not as foundation. I love it as a bronzer when applied on my "poreless area" (like the contours of my face and upper half of my nose bridge) It has all the undertones and intensities for the perfect bronzer for you. Just my opinion.
I think it’s for people who have NOTHING to cover. If you do it’s a stressful mess lol. I’ve tried it so many times and ugh!!! Powder foundation in general seems to clog my pores and make it have a tingly feeling.
I love this foundation for daily wear. I usually conceal under my eyes and on any places where I feel like I need it. And then i usually use a flat top kabuki brush and press the foundation into my skin all over, and then buff after I’m done. It looks so nice and dewy on my skin.
I worked at a bare minerals for 5 years selling the makeup and skincare. Several things, the recommended amount is for light coverage. I usually gave myself 3 taps of product into the lid to work with. Swirl that real good. Second, the brush you are using to apply is all wrong for full coverage. It would definitely take forever to build. Bare minerals sells an angled full coverage brush that is super dense that I used to apply the foundation with in more of a “packing” motion. The coverage is totally dependent on whatever brush you are using.
I am 58 years old and just started using this product again. I am blown away how much better I look. It doesn’t settle into the pores or wrinkles. I can really tell a difference when I look in a magnifying mirror.
Ohhhh, you know what it might be? The PRIMER. I tried this foundation with a silicone-y primer and it slid/wouldn't stick to my face, but then I tried it with just moisturizer and it worked. I also tried it with a tacky primer and that worked, too.
FYI Taylor, if you have sensitive skin be careful with this. Bismuth Oxychloride is one of the main ingredients in BM foundation powders. I used this for years as a teenager and developed a constant red blotchy dotted rashy looking complexion. Turned out it was from the powder. When i stopped it went away. But took a long time.
Same!! I bought this in 2005 and threw it away. I though the brush was irritating. So rough! Along with the bismuth in the ingredients and the got weather, I was forever irritated and itchy and wanted to scratch my face off!
the liquid BM foundations and the barePro powder foundation does not have bismuth oxychloride in it, neither does the blemish rescue loose powder. so there are quite a few options to try from them that do not have this ingredient that some of the population is allergic to.
It might be fun for you to go to the bare minerals counter and have them apply it to you and tell them you want full coverage and see what happens. I feel like companies make claims that they can somehow achieve (or say they can achieve) but when we get it home it doesn’t do what they claim. Love your videos 😘
I did exactly that, went to the counter and asked them to try it on my face. The foundation covered all of my redness and acne scars and everything in under 2 minutes. You couldn’t get it to full coverage because of user error, not the company’s fault.
OKAY LOOK. I love this makeup. But it hated me the first several times I tried it, until I finally figured out my method. I moisturize, prime, and then buff in until my arm falls off. Perfect skin every time
@@heythereperson1 to be honest I myself never used a primer with it or anything until last couple of years. Also probably depends on your skin type but I would think a more moisturizing primer than anything.
I use the original Bare Minerals powder foundation for extra coverage over a BB cream or tinted moisturizer. I'm also OBSESSED with the Hydrating Mineral Veil. It is GORGEOUS. No additional coverage, but the radiance and non-drying texture are so beautiful.
It always surprises me how many people actually love this foundation. I used it in high school per my dermatologist's recommendation. So when it started giving me bad cyctic acne I was so in denial. It didn't even cross my mind that it was the makeup at first because the dermatologist made it sound like it was the best thing ever for sensitive skin. When I finally stopped using it my face stopped itching for the first time in months and I got online and read so many other people's reviews/ comments about having the same reaction due to the bismuth oxychloride. Never again. It took about a year to get my face back to being clear and even after that I had scarring for the longest time.
4:46 *Taylor* Your brush is not dense enough. It needs to be a *dense* Kabuki brush. See Shelby Wilson's video "Why Your Powder Foundation isn't Working" (she used to work for Bare Minerals)
I read a comment today about how any foundation can work for dry skin as long as you moisturize first which is crazy. I don’t agree at all. I love the bare minerals original powder foundation. It’s weird to me that it covers my redness but it does. I just have to prep my face and use a good setting spray.
Random story, but I’ll always associate Bare Minerals with the time my best friend stole all my makeup lol. It was middle school, I was sleeping over at her house, and had brought my makeup bag over, which consisted of BM and covergirl, I had like 6 different BM face products that my mother passed on to me. I forgot my bag over there and when I went back the next day to grab it, she said she hadn’t seen it. I asked several times over the next few days and she kept saying she’d keep an eye out. When I finally went back over to her house, I followed her to her room and low and behold, there’s my makeup strewn all across her floor and dresser. I just turned around and left, didn’t say anything. I knew she had lied so she could keep it. We had to get our parents involved, and finally she gave up about half the makeup, the rest she “couldn’t find.” That friendship dissipated quickly.
Trinity 182 we never spoke again. It sucks because I’ve always struggled making friends, so when I have a really good friend, that friendship is super important to me. Not everyone values friendships like that though.
I had this happen to me in high school! Except it was with hair dye and makeup. The crappy part of it was if she had just asked if she could have some I would have gave it to her :/ you're better off without a friend like that though :)
I had this happen with a friend in middle school too. I let her borrow my makeup box for halloween because I had alot of useful stuff in there, and when she gave it back she said her brother had gotten into it, half my stuff was broken, and over a quarter of it was missing. She also broke my cd player she borrowed. She never borrowed my stuff again and our friendship was strained after that. So much allowance went into that makeup.
EmilyNoel has worked a lot with that powder, has a video about the best way she has found to use it. I’ve never understood the appeal of powder as foundation..I’ve always had a ‘downy’ face, powder and hair do not mix well!
Rand W. Well , I’m older I’m sure lol. I’ve started shaving my face sometimes, that can help. I haven’t found a concealer yet that doesn’t just look kinda dry and strange. I have used Garnier BB cream for several years, really like it. Not much coverage though. Also like the Wet n Wild cushion, and CYO life proof.
I just recently went back to Bare Minerals and I’m obsessed with it again. I was skeptical on the powder concealer, but it honestly covers way more/better than any liquid concealer I’ve tired. My skin feels so free throughout the day and I’ve noticed my skin clearing up. :)
@@rachelg8695 I'm so jealous. Australia has been on fire with a whole week of most places over 40°c (I think around/over 104 F) I'm dying here. Haha 🔥🔥
I wore Bare Minerals throughout my late 30s and 40s, and into my 50s. I loved that it was fair enough for me and so easy and beautiful to use until it just stopped working. It took years to find new foundations that worked, but for that more than a decade when it worked, it was wonderful! I started my daughter on it when she was a teen but she found it too much work. I was Marie Kondo-ing today and found a sealed Mineral Veil. I’m going to give it a shot for the fun of it. What I really miss are their loose shadows and a loose blush they discontinued eons ago. When they were bought by Shiseido, I thought what was unique about them was lost. And so ends my trip down memory lane.
Yes! I used to have about six of the loose eye eyeshadows. I bought them from a Bare Minerals store back in 2010. Bare Minerals was my first step away from drugstore makeup when I got my first job after college.
Laurie Gold I found their loose shadows online. I still love water lily. So they are not listed on their page but if you know a colour, I typed in water lily and the shadows do come up. But that was a few years ago.
I have been DIEING to tell you that CeraVe has a new hydrating serum with hyaluronic acid in it. I know you love CeraVe and thought you would love to try that product. Let us know if you try and what you think.
@Saved0315 I want to like her videos but I have such a hard time watching her because I spend the whole time cringing at how unhealthily thin and skeletal she looks and all her bones sticking out.
How I use it : 1) I spot conceal/put a thin layer of concealer on parts of my face that need coverage. 2) I use the bare minerals beautiful finish brush and it seriously was a game changer! Completely changed the finish and how it goes on. 3) I probably use too much powder but I do buff it in and it makes a difference. Bare minerals is now my time saving foundation! I too have dry skin 🙂
I missed Taylor with the lack of Wednesday video (I know she took it down). Happy to see a powder foundation review, I find them way more convenient!! Can’t wait for the next 15 days of foundation too!
Ive never gotten bare minerals to work... when it came out 20 yrs ago and everyone thought it was better than slice bread i was so anxious to use it and was disappointed
I used to have the same problem and gave up for a long time. It just didn't cover. I decided to try it one more time but used the Real Techniques foundation brush to apply this foundation. HUGE difference! The bristles are shorter and more compact so it's a little "rougher" and really gets the foundation on. Now I love this foundation and get great coverage!
When I use powder foundation, I normally take a looser brush like the elf small powder brush or small tapered brush to get the product on first, then blend out. Surprisingly it pack on more product faster for me. Maybe you can try it out too.
It's so fun to know that you're always changing it up on your channel and retrying products most of us have forgotten about. I bought the Bare Minerals Mineral Veil when it was on sale at Ulta sometime last yr and I just use concealer for spot concealing, set under eyes and then go in with the mineral veil. I prime and set with the Catrice dewy setting spray and it works well as long as I've been exfoliating and on top of my skin care or else it will cling to dry patches.
i don’t know if the brush your using is synthetic but try to use a real hair bristled brush!! that worked a lot better for me! and i definitely had to put a lot more product in the lid too and when you swirl your brush around don’t do it too much or the brush will eat it all up! i hope that helps!
Jacqueline Flaugher she’s doing it as they recommend though, using very little. They ought to not say that if it doesn’t work that way. Also, their real hair brushes do work better for this, but they are stiff and scratchy as heck. It creates friction which in turn melts it into the skin. Meanwhile many people than have a reaction because you micro exfoliate in the process. They’ve since come out with synthetic soft brushes you can get instead- exactly like she’s using.
I tried their brushes with this foundation. The hairs are coarse and TBH I didn't like it because of the friction and the vigorous buffing, it would emphasize my pores, the finish is beautiful on my "poreless area" and the best way for me to apply it was with a medium super fluffy power brush because it wasn't that rough on my skin and it wouldn't "buff away" product off my pores. As a bronzer it works fantastic.
@@mishmash3968 i had no experience with their original kabuki brush. I used their new-er synthetic charcoal buffing brush and its great! It doesnt feel scratchy or rough on my skin imo. I do agree though that you would have to use more than suggested to get good coverage, and the product is a bit high maintenance since you need to buff it for a long time. However, the final finish is sooo worth it.
Nur AA yeah, those small, travel size kabuki brushes are really nice! I have the same one you have, minus the charcoal. I picked up two since they work so well with any powder product (even as a liquid foundation brush) and are easy for travel or purse. The original real hair brushes I’ve always thought were atrocious, so abrasive on the skin. No thanks, man. There are too many hood brushes nowadays to out yourself through that. Lol
Mish mash if you go into a bare minerals store, they use “very little” but by very little they ever so slightly cover the whole kid with product swirl around like twice tap tap and buff. you blend a lot but your aren’t supposed to apply a lot of pressure. i’m not an expert but this was my foundation of choice for about 7 years and I did a session at the bare minerals store just to figure out how to perfect it. also I didn’t say to use THEIR brushes, just a real hair brush. the formula of the product may have changed over the years but i’m just giving input on a product I used from about early 2000s til about 4-5 years ago.
Hi Taylor! I just wanted to let you know that your fans are the greatest! I had a break down yesterday and I turned to baerritos in the facebook group and they were so supportive, I got nothing else but love there! I love you bc you created this place a supportive loving space! Thank you I love you and the baerritos too! ❤️
I use the Bare Minerals foundation in medium, and I love it! I do my concealer in all the usual places *before* I put it on, so maybe that's why I'm getting better coverage? I also use a real hair powder brush. Maybe that makes a difference? I don't know! I was taught to tap the brush upside down (brush head upwards), to load the brush with powder. You could give it a try maybe? I occasionally use it over foundation, but only when I use lighter coverage ones, so it doesn't look too cakey. Hope you manage to get it to work for you! 💖💖💖
bare minerals is my holy grail foundation. I've been using it for years! And to really make it work I would recommend using their brushes. They have 3, a full coverage, medium and a concealer. When I had acne in high school I learned that you should use the concealer brush to go in and slightly cover any marks, then go in with the medium or full brush. After that you can go back in with the concealer brush. You can definitely get full coverage with this technique. And if you don't want full coverage, you can really build it to whatever coverage you want. I don't think i'll ever stop using this product.
I worked and trained with them professionally for decades I still love it , like a lot of comments you need to use a lot more !! And a stiffer short handled kabuki brush and buff buff buff !! And it will be flawless I promise u !!! Also I think Medium will suit u it’s a cool toned shade more peach / pink toned 👍🏼
Lily Lolo makes a good mineral powder foundation. I haven’t really tried to build it up, just use it to quickly even out my skin and cover a little redness. They have some good pale skin options too. Just picked up their mascara last week, I’ve only worn it a couple of times but it’s worked pretty well.
I also use this foundation and really love it. As many others have said, apply moisturizer, use a different brush, dump way more product in the lid, swirl for about a minute then buff onto your face. It definitely turns creamy if done correctly. My skin looks flawless and glowy. I have regular skin and live in Fairbanks Alaska where it's INSANELY DRY. Love it so much.
Props for taking down your VS video, even though you put hard work into it. Just another example of your great ethics and why you’re my favourite TH-camr!!!
Bare Minerals is my go to when I'm in a rush. I never applied it the way "you're supposed to". The coverage is so sheer on me I apply a decent amount and buff it out and I think it looks good on me. I have combo skin and I apply liquid concealer and powder to my rough spots.
Taylor I FINALLYYYYYY got my hands on the Catrice Dewy Setting Spray and boy it did not disappoint!! Now if I can just get the freaking CYO in 103 or 105! Today while on Walgreens website....I noticed some stores about 45 min away that had my shades in stock... so I believe there's gonna be a good old fashioned ROAD TRIIIPPP!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I too had a similar (disappointing) experience with this foundation despite trying over and over. BUT when I use their beautiful finish foundation brush it's absolute magic. I don't know what it is, but I swear it's magical. Especially with a setting spray to lock it into my face (combination to dry skin) and more especially with my Catrice multitalent fixing spray. At work I often have to present in front of stakeholders and am on camera for our video cast up to 8 hours and need a flawless finish - depending on the time of the month and season this is one of my go-tos (even as a finishing powder). I just love how it looks with this brush and with this spray. Good luck!
I use this on top of the complexion rescue and it’s beautiful. I do agree with many commenters that the brush isn’t hard or tough enough to really buff it in. I went to a bareMinerals store and had them show me exactly how you’re supposed to do it and with what types of brushes and it changed the whole foundation experience for me.
I realize this is an old video but I've been wanting to hear how others feel bare minerals compares to the Estee Lauder double wear powder foundation. I have used it for years and I love it but I feel like not many people talk about it. It's not drying at all. I tried a sample size of the Bare Minerals loose foundation and I gotta say, I'm not liking the finish one bit.
Please cover L’Oréal’s true match mineral powder! I’ve used it over top of my foundations for over 10 years! I feel like it’s an OG that never gets talked about? It sets my makeup great and adds extra coverage where I need it.
@@romaineszabo7362 I use it both ways! I’ll use foundation under it and use the brush on top to lightly dust/set it. Or I use it alone buffed over moisturizer to give it something to stick to!
the brush is the key....I have to use a VERY dense brush. Makes a huge difference. I just came back to BM original after 20 years of being a foundation junky and am having great results. Love your videos. Your skin is looking fantastic
They actually changed the formula of the original foundation at one point and added Lauroy Lysine (which is supposed to make it creamier I guess? But it can be pore clogging). So this probably is not the same foundation you used back in the day when you had oily skin. Maybe give the powder foundation by Lily Lolo a try! It's really nice! 😊
I've used Bareminerals for years and I have extremely dry skin. The way I apply it is to fully hydrate my face and tap the powder over my hydrated skin so the powder has something to stick too. Than I swirl, tap and buff in more product to blend any patchiness. Also on my severe dry days I'll will mix the powdered foundation with my favorite water based moisturizer and apply it as a liquid foundation and blend it in. I hope this helps!
I could never get this to work for me, however I purchased a load of bare minerals products for my 15 year old daughter as a stocking filler. She has acne, redness and dry skin. She has never been able to wear any liquid foundation. My goodness her skin is flawless when she uses bare minerals. Her skin really is taken to a different level. I tried it again, using their brush and certainly it gave a lot more coverage in a lot less time than using my other brushes. Possibly try their brush??? Also the mineral veil finishing powder certainly helps give a flawless look and a glow.
I LOVE when you do these re-trys... I use to have oily skin and now I have dry skin and its incredible how different products work depending on skin type! ❤🌯❤🌯❤🌯❤🌯❤🌯❤
I have used BE for 20+ years. I apply with a very dense kabuki brush & keep blending. The blending is the important part. My skin is very dry but love this product. I also love all the powder eye shadows & blushes! Keep at it. You can spot layer with a small dense and lay the product down.
The only way I could make this powder work was by using the actual bare minerals foundation brush. I have no idea why it makes a difference, but for me it totally did. The foundation looked beautiful and gave me great coverage when I used their brush with it.
I have also tried this product and so far I have never been successful with the look I wanted. No matter how much I buffed or swirled my brush it always shows all my pores and makes them look huge. I live where it is humid so it should work great but there are a lot more powder foundations that not only look great but don’t take as much work. I am thrilled to know it’s not just me. 😊
Don't you guys love it when you have a not so great day and you realize, "Today is a day Taylor uploads a video." Woo hoo!! My mood immediately improves!! Thanks, Taylor!! P.S. Finally started using my Catrice dewy setting spray and it is amazing! A total game changer. Also, I never could get the Bare Mineral powder foundation to work on me either. I found it just made a mess and I also couldn't find a shade light enough.
I'm 47 with mature combo skin with large pores and I love this foundation. I spritz my flat top kabuki brush with water and then stipple this to one section of my face at time. Then I buff it circular motions to blend it out and it works great. I top it off with Mineral Veil in the t-zone an Hydrating Veil everywhere else. Finish with MAC fix plus and press it in with a sponge and then for all day longwear, spray a little UD Allnighter. Hope this helps.
I always had to put on a tacky lotion prior to putting that foundation on my face to make it look semi covered. You always know how to make something dead, come to life in a beautiful way
I recently tried Bare Minerals again after hating it 10 yrs ago and Shelby Wilson has great tutorials because she worked there. I like it now that I know to to use it better and her tutorials are very helpful.
I have used this foundation for close to 15 years. While using it, it completely cleared up my acne. I definitely am not as careful with thr whole "swirl, tap, buff" method. I use much more, and get medium to full coverage very easily. However, with that said, it doesnt work for everyone. I have just recently switched over to the Barepro, and it has been pretty amazong as well.
I have to say, bare minerals can look really lovely, I wore it for years when I had oily skin and although it didn’t last ALL day, it did look the most skin like of any foundation I’ve ever used. BUT, you have to use much more to start than they say. Honestly, I filled half the lid with a thin layer of powder PER area I was covering. If u try it again, I’d recommend just goin in. It’s hard to look cakey if ur careful and the catrice would look great over it. Let us know if you find s way to work it! When my acne was really bad it was the only thing that I could get to cover for me, and I had cystic acne also.
I have dry skin as well and have tried this foundation multiple times with no luck liking it... then I applied it as a setting powder over top of my favorite foundation(dermablend leg and body foundation) and I just buff it in once the foundation sets and dries. I looove using this powder in that way!
Hey T, I remember seeing Shalom Blac cover up her severe burns on her face using the original bare minerals and it looked amazing. I think she started with a very moisturized base... I'm not really sure what her secret was. Just thought you might want to check out that video... 😘❤️
I saw that video.....totally shocked me. I too wonder whats her secret. Ive never seen that drastic of a difference (in terms of coverage), unless i really layer the product up. I have medium skin tone btw (golden beige 13). I think perhaps since shalom has deeper skin tone, the product might have more pigment in it to give better coverage. Whereas since taylor has much lighter skin tone, the coverage isnt showing as much? Probably has something to do with their formula since they only use five ingredients. But well.....this is just a theory though :)
i know this is old video but bare mineral is FULL coverage if you use it correctly.. i have lots skin issues and even my friends who have seen my face without any makeup on, even once told me that " feel bad for you to have that skin..." lol shouted at me "WHAT FOUNDATION ARE YOU USING YOU NEED TO SHOW ME YOU LOOK FLAWLESS"... and she is not only one tbh. i get soooo many compliments. even some people said that they wish they had my skin but like i said, i have SO MANY skin issues, i look totally different without foundation. baremineral is amazing but you really need to use this certain brush to apply with, and also primer, some primer feels horrible with this foundation, so you need to be really careful.
This is the only foundation I can wear in the summer. I have super oily skin and have a medical issue that causes me to sweat. So much sweat. All other foundations just melt off my face.
I really like the Tarte airbrush powder foundation! I feel like it gives you more coverage off the bat without having to keep building and buffing with the bare minerals. Still gives similar finish... just takes less time and I think it’s actually natural looking
I wore this and only this for over 10 years and always loved it! Just the last year and a half have been using liquid foundation. I still use this from time to time!
Hey Taylor! I just wanna share with you how I use this foundation. So I actually don’t start out with a small amount of product, I dump out enough for my whole face and instead of swirling my brush in the lid, I just tap it into the lid to pick up the most product, and then I stipple it on to my face first before blending. It actually gives me pretty decent coverage for being a loose powder!
I've been waiting for this video!! Since the leopard robe Vlog days I have tried so many of the foundations Taylor talks about and they never work out the best for me and I always go back to Bare Minerals. I prefer to have the option to build up in my problem areas and the keep my makeup lighter where I don't need the coverage. With being so fair but also covered in freckles, I've not found a concealer that I can do that with was out it being visible that I'm spot concealing. Some of the reasons why I love bare minerals are that I can use a dense brush and pack it on around my nose and on acne and then use of bigger brush everywhere else. I like that during the day if it starts to crease I can just pat it out with my finger (I don't set). Its not matte and gives a nice natural glow from within vibe. I can lightly blend it around my ears/neck to kind of diffuse it down so that there is not a harsh difference anywhere. With liquid foundation I always have a visible difference unless I cover myself from cleavage to forehead! Bare Minerals is a smidge too dark for me but nothing warming up with bronzer can't fix. I spot conceal with liquid, cover with the BM concealer brush. Then I use a dense buffing brush and press/pack into my skin in the center of my face and once that's down I buff all over with less product and a looser brush. I use MUCH more than what they say to and I really pack it on at first, and buff with a looser brush. I have dry skin around my nose crease and under my eyes but the rest of my face is a low oiliness. I'm breakout prone and BM gives me no issues. That's my novel about BM. ❤Ya Taylor keep up the steller work. After all these years, I still admire your work ethic and overall dopeness! existence
Super excited for the update video about other foundations that you tried before you had dry skin. I always look forward to foundation Friday. Keep up the good work!
I Love Using the original one during the winter all over my face AFTER liquid foundation and contour/highlight it blurs/blends and diffuses any harsh lines and pores and it gives you extra coverage.. the only negative is that it does transfer!
Also I always use Summer bisque concealer with it & Well Rested eyeshadow as an eyebase if I use Bare Minerals. The Hydrating Mineral Veil Powder is great for blurring & setting.
I been trying this foundation for a few weeks now. I didn’t like it at first but I’m starting to love it now that I am figuring out the best primers with it. I make sure i moisturize at night and use my smashbox primerizer and then my elf Pudy primer on my larger pores. Then concealer. Set concealer with powder. Set face with milani prime set glow powder then go in with the BM powder foundation
I have dry ass skin. I rarely peel, yet it feels so tight and flat, if that makes sense, and I have never found a powder foundation that works. Most setting powders I have to be super light with, too. I love how people with both oily skin and dry skin can enjoy your videos!
I worked for BM for a long time. You can definitely use more product than they tell you to, especially if you want more coverage. I used to put two-three times the amount recommended in the cap, swirl a dense brush in it and pat it on areas where more coverage is desired. Using small dabbing motions presses the product on instead of swirling it away. After patting the specific full coverage areas, I would take more product and buff around the perimeter of the face to get a smooth finish. This is really the only way I could ever get the powder to be fuller coverage by itself. I also would recommend SmashBox primerizer/moisturizer and The Tatcha silk canvas smoothing primer for over your lines/wrinkles to prevent settling. Also, if you use a dense natural hair brush to apply, you will get a lot more coverage quicker. If you choose synthetic, you will have to be a little more patient. Hope this helps. If it is still too much work for you, I totally understand lol.
The brush truly does make such a difference. I was always quite skeptical about it, until I worked for sephora and used the brush from bare minerals, that's meant for this product. Using that to buff it into the cap of the product for a minute, full 60 seconds, creams the product. THEN buff into the skin. It makes such a difference in the application and coverage.
I used to have very bad hormonal acne in high school and this was the only foundation I used!! Brings back some memories. I wonder if it would work on my skin now. Might have to try it again. I think using their natural bristle brushes might make a difference!
I think one of the first makeup videos I ever watched was on how to apply bare minerals because I got a set for Christmas. Definitely makes me feel old haha
I was obsessed with Bare Minerals back in 2005-2006. I remember ordering on QVC and thinking I was so fancy. I haven't tried it in 10+ years... I'm so tempted to give it a shot again!
I am 30 and I have used Bare Minerals on and off since I was about 15. I end up going away from it for months at a time but end up loving it when I go back to it. I have dry skin. I use quite a bit more product then they suggest and use the Real Techniques buffing brush.
I used Bare minerals with post cystic acne skin from acutane, but I was still oily until I turned 47. It worked for me pushing it into my skin with with a VERY dense flat foundation brush instead of buffing. It did not show texture and I got more coverage. Now my skin is dryer, it doesn't really work, but Sephora powder foundation does work if I use it for light coverage.
I really like the Bare Minerals Blemish Remedy mineral foundation. It's not too satiny but not super matte. It's perfect with a dewy setting spray on top. I'm a pretty pale redhead an I use the shade clearly porcelain and it's not too dark. I use the Bare Minerals Seamless Buffing Brush with it which is pretty dense. I'd say I get medium coverage out of it. I use a decent amount of product. I've never had issues with it looking cakey either so keep trying!
I tried this foundation years ago and I couldn't get it to work for me and then I worked at sephora and learned that you are supposed to swirl the brush into the product for about a minute because what it does is warm up the minerals and makes it more creamy rather than powdery and that's how you get it to have more coverage
Interesting! I'll have to retry mine. I think it's still around here somewhere...
Good to know!
Michelle H same!! If we are actually trying to cover something and not just even skin tone, we can’t do the “dime” crap 😂😂
Heidi sapp! It wasn’t a kabuki it was a wider powder brush, but the bristles were corse compared to day a synthetic powder brush.
I tried that brush and I still got low coverage that is just patchy and dry looking. I don’t understand why it doesn’t want to stick to my skin right.
I just came here to say this! The kabuki brush always worked the best for be and my bareminerals powder. I think it makes a difference that she used a synthetic brush too?
For me, when applied correctly, it does give mostly full coverage but I do prefer to use it on top of concealer
I do this exact same thing and I love it. I press it in with a denser flat top kabuki brush. Then I buff it in. It has helped my skin so much.
@@dollparts6835 yea the kabuki brush is key
I do this as well.
I agree. The brush is a must!
Heidi Sapp that’s the brush I use for it , and I love it !!! It doesn’t look the same with other brushes
I think it works the best with Their brushes they work best together.... I knew once she pulled out the IT brushes it wasn’t going to work at all
@@amandacosio9020 Same 🤦♀️
One of my best friends SWEARS by this foundation and her face always looks amazing after using it...then I tried it and I looked like the Sahara Desert lmao 🤦🏼♀️
Look up a video on how to use the product. You really have to buff the product into the brush and buff it into your face. Like tap the product into the lid and buff it into the brush with circular motion until you don't see anymore product in the lid. This gives me high medium and glowy coverage
SAME
When I try it in other people it looks great, on me doesn't look so good. It emphasize my pores the more I buff the product in the skin.
But I do love this product but not as foundation. I love it as a bronzer when applied on my "poreless area" (like the contours of my face and upper half of my nose bridge)
It has all the undertones and intensities for the perfect bronzer for you.
I had a reaction like this too.xx
Same!! I bought this in 2005 and threw it away. I though the brush was irritating. So rough! Along with the bismuth in the ingredients and the got weather, I was forever irritated and itchy and wanted to scratch my face off!
Yeah BM breaks me out horribly, even the matte and blemish ready. I've tried the original twice since it came out and it just ruins my skin everytime.
I made my own mineral foundation, didn't include bismuth & added kaolin clay since my skin is oily. It's easy & fun
the liquid BM foundations and the barePro powder foundation does not have bismuth oxychloride in it, neither does the blemish rescue loose powder. so there are quite a few options to try from them that do not have this ingredient that some of the population is allergic to.
I used Bare Minerals all through high school and college. Started using again recently, and it still works like it used to! And I love their brushes.
It might be fun for you to go to the bare minerals counter and have them apply it to you and tell them you want full coverage and see what happens. I feel like companies make claims that they can somehow achieve (or say they can achieve) but when we get it home it doesn’t do what they claim. Love your videos 😘
Good idea!
Perfect skin every time
Yes. Definitely a learning curve to it but soooooo worth it
I agree 100%. Also I use a mineral powder brush and that makes a huge difference for me too! Love this foundation!
What kind of primer do you use with it ?
@@heythereperson1 to be honest I myself never used a primer with it or anything until last couple of years. Also probably depends on your skin type but I would think a more moisturizing primer than anything.
Heidi Sapp thank you ! My skin is dry n I’ve been trying this with just my regular moisturizer but I think I’ll add a moisturizing primer too.
I love when you do the throwback videos. I enjoy watching you revisit foundations that you tried when you were oily/acne vs now.
I read a comment today about how any foundation can work for dry skin as long as you moisturize first which is crazy. I don’t agree at all.
I love the bare minerals original powder foundation. It’s weird to me that it covers my redness but it does. I just have to prep my face and use a good setting spray.
@Trinity 182 mix a drop of argan/jojoba oil in foundation.. :)
M Mmshuga seriously what is it with teenage girls stealing other teenage girls makeup?😂
Y’all were in middle school still kids learning but dang that’s messed up. 🤷🏻♀️
It dosnt look like it gave a ton of coverage, but it makes your skin look FLAWLESS ! Idk if its just the camera but it looks like skin!
EmilyNoel has worked a lot with that powder, has a video about the best way she has found to use it.
I’ve never understood the appeal of powder as foundation..I’ve always had a ‘downy’ face, powder and hair do not mix well!
Sonya Hubbard hi sonya! I have a lot of peach fuzz too and foundation clings like crazy! What do you recommend for foundation, concealer, face powder?
@@drytears95 Dermaplaning! Works like a dream and removes dead skin at the same time.
I just recently went back to Bare Minerals and I’m obsessed with it again. I was skeptical on the powder concealer, but it honestly covers way more/better than any liquid concealer I’ve tired. My skin feels so free throughout the day and I’ve noticed my skin clearing up. :)

Nickie L Ah, but the pickings are slim! But thanks for reminding me.
The loose blush and eyeshadows are still part of the main line in the UK thankfully 🙏🙏
Have you found other best dupes for the old formula? Will be happy to know! Thank you
I have been DIEING to tell you that CeraVe has a new hydrating serum with hyaluronic acid in it. I know you love CeraVe and thought you would love to try that product. Let us know if you try and what you think.
Pat Cruise Drdray did a review on it, said it’s just a watered down lotion 🤷🏻♀️ I was really interested too
@@Saved0315 Damn. That sucks. I'm disappointed. I know Dr. Dray likes other things from that brand right?
Pat Cruise yeah she likes the moisturiser in the tub and the hydration face wash
@Saved0315 I want to like her videos but I have such a hard time watching her because I spend the whole time cringing at how unhealthily thin and skeletal she looks and all her bones sticking out.
"Dying" ... But the message of your comment is great!

Taylor you’ve been all glow! You have been beautiful with or without your acne. Your personality has never changed. Ly!
Same
Your skin is absolutely glowing!! I just rewatched your "accutane" journey and how you took care of your skin. Your hard work is paying off
I think BM was a great way to introduce someone to makeup. It was my first face product! The bronzer shade however looked muddy on me.

Taylor, thank you for recommending the Catrice glow spray, love it
When I use powder foundation, I normally take a looser brush like the elf small powder brush or small tapered brush to get the product on first, then blend out.
I always loved the bare minerals powder I used to work there so maybe that’s why hahah but I still use it 10 years later!!
Can u tell me when the powders expire? Opened and unopened
Oh and using the mineral veil at the end is EVERYTHING! It smooths out the whole look and takes it to another level.
i don’t know if the brush your using is synthetic but try to use a real hair bristled brush!! that worked a lot better for me! and i definitely had to put a lot more product in the lid too and when you swirl your brush around don’t do it too much or the brush will eat it all up! i hope that helps!
I use WAY more in the cap and I just do a quick "swirl" before buffing it in. Much quicker and easier.

Bare Minerals makes me itchy. ♥
Good luck!
YESS I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOUNDATION FRIDAY😭😩 We all love you Taylor! This look is so so flattering on you!💙💙💙💙
I use this on top of the complexion rescue and it’s beautiful. I do agree with many commenters that the brush isn’t hard or tough enough to really buff it in. I went to a bareMinerals store and had them show me exactly how you’re supposed to do it and with what types of brushes and it changed the whole foundation experience for me.
I used to use the Estee Lauder double wear powder and I loved it. It was legit full coverage
The brush that comes with it makes a world of difference! I honestly get a pretty high medium low full coverage and use their brush!
Please cover L’Oréal’s true match mineral powder! I’ve used it over top of my foundations for over 10 years! I feel like it’s an OG that never gets talked about? It sets my makeup great and adds extra coverage where I need it.
I have it but don't know how to use it, do I buff it into the foundation, and can I use it on its own ?
I love Lily Lolo much better shade selection for fairer skin tones
❤🌯❤🌯❤🌯❤🌯❤🌯❤
44GlenCoCo yes fantastic idea. Would love to see more re try’s
I just got the spray too! I was a little worried seeing it look kinda glittery in the bottle but it's beautiful!
Bare Minerals was how I found out I had eczema :\ Apparently, the finely milled nature of it can cause flare-ups.
I always had to put on a tacky lotion prior to putting that foundation on my face to make it look semi covered. You always know how to make something dead, come to life in a beautiful way
I use that It Cosmetics brush to apply the aquasurance foundation!
I recently tried Bare Minerals again after hating it 10 yrs ago and Shelby Wilson has great tutorials because she worked there. I like it now that I know to to use it better and her tutorials are very helpful.
Just tried this recently as well & I am loving it.
P.s. I have oily skin & was able to make it work with setting powder on top!
I always set my bareminerals with a translucent powder too, even though it is a powder foundation. Makes a huge difference!
Lucky Mama totally random but try the setting spray by ben nye (the blue one). I have oily skin and live in a hot humid climate and it helps a lot.
Mara NV Hey, thanks for sharing this. I’ll try it!!
I really like the Tarte airbrush powder foundation! I feel like it gives you more coverage off the bat without having to keep building and buffing with the bare minerals. Still gives similar finish... just takes less time and I think it’s actually natural looking
Bare minerals pressed powder foundation is full coverage thoooough
I wore this and only this for over 10 years and always loved it! Just the last year and a half have been using liquid foundation. I still use this from time to time!
Can you please recommend a good concealer brush. I know you were looking for new one .thank you and love you
Real Techniques has a good one and it's affordable. I have the orange one and love it.
Haven’t watched the video yet, already gave it a thumbs up. Notification squad sound off!!🌯🖤🌯🖤🌯🖤
Your skin looks absolutely amazing in this video!
Notification squad 😘🌯
After all these years, I still admire your work ethic and overall dopeness! existence
For those that love Bare Minerals good for you. I’ve tried it a few times and the result is always the same HATE IT
Super excited for the update video about other foundations that you tried before you had dry skin.
You’re brave! The bismuth oxychloride in that breaks me out in cystic acne almost instantly
I really love how natural the bare minerals looks on you. It's quite beautiful.
