Sam, I watched your original video with David Lee back in the day. I can’t believe it’s been 5 years! You still have the best, most artistic, car videos with the best intros and b-roll shots. Keep it up!
David Lee is a real car guy! He loves to share the automotive knowledge and take people that share the same passion as him for rides in his fabulous cars and that's what it's all about! Really a nice, humble and down to earth person that deserves all the success in the world! It's great that we can go along for the journey with videos like this one!
David Lee is such a cool genuine down to earth person, one would never know that he is such an influential and powerful person in business and the owner of one of the most amazing Ferrari collections in the United States. Great video 👍🏻
There is a yellow 288. 288 GTO #47649 the 5th prototype was retained by the factory until 1987. Originally red it was repainted yellow by the factory (along with retrofitted aircon and electric windows) before it was sold to a long term customer.
I don't know if it's the same car, but there's a chap who attended Gumball3000 n a few other historic rallies such as Targa Florio in a yellow 288 GTO. That one too was supposedly resprayed yellow from the factory early on in its life. The owner is an absolute savage too. He was really gunning it during the event, exactly how one should. 😉
David Lee always seems like such a nice down to earth guy. Does he have a full time mechanic and detailer on staff? He must also have a serious security system. Gone in 60 Seconds comes to mind.
As a big fan of the channel - I’m missing the STG signature adventure/day out videos - visiting US collectors feels very Shmee-150, which does get extremely repetitive in my opinion.
Hi Sid, I have a spreadsheet here, and I am collecting feedback. I have added this to the "Too much like Tim Burton, he'll be wearing blue socks next" tab. Please feel free to advise if you think it is in the wrong section and I'll correct. Will be sending it to Sam on 23/12/22 Regards
What a cracking video. I’ve not heard of David Lee before and seeing his channel will keep my busy over Xmas! It looks like he has some tasty motorbikes there too. He has an amazing collection of what he loves and that’s all that matters. I love most Italian cars but I think I would vary the manufacturers when I start my collection after I drop several lottery wins! Some years ago on, I think, Top Gear there was Chris Evans showing his Ferraris of which a lot were in yellow. Iirc he even had a few repainted from red to yellow which made me wince somewhat. Yellow on a car just doesn’t work for me for some reason. Anyway, I’m in awe of what I’ve just seen and I’m grateful that he allows other fans to see his outstanding collection. 🍺
Will do, thanks Steven 👍 🍺. Ah Darren, well remembered on the colour. He was a good sport wasn’t he? He let Capt. Slow drive one of his most valuable cars (I think I?). 🍺
@@olderbutnowiser6701 I lusted after that white 288GTO of his! A lot of them were classics (Dino and older) and he had an F40, too, but I know the purists absolutely hated him for it!
Hi mkygod, you're not wrong in this observation. It actually goes deeper than that, they really are quite opposite. Apparently, due to the difference in compasses they carry in case of a sudden and chronic loss of location, they legitimately repel each other. Sounds bonkers, but I can assure you it's true. Regards x
I don't even think David Lee cracks the top 25 Ferrari collections in the world... It's a good Ferrari collection but not one of the best by any stretch.
Yellow is the color of Ferrari. The red color came from the color assigned to Italy in the car racing competitions in 1900s, as much racing green was the color assigned to UK, for instance. We all know how important racing has always been for Ferrari from day one and this explains why red is considered from many people the distintive Ferrari's color. Yellow Ferraris are possibly the purest Ferraris.
I'd like to know how US legislators thought that the added small black bumper on the F40 would somehow make a difference in a crash or hitting a pedestrian!!!!
Hi Alun, in the 50s, they did many tests around how energy is dissipated based on colour. They ascertained that due to black absorbing the most energy from the sun, when another energy (kinetic) came into effect, it sheds that energy like nobodies business. Hope that helps, regards x
I can't overstate how much I HATE YELLOW, however, the only car/s I'd ever get in that color would be a Ferrari. Something about that Triple Layer Paint just does wonder for the lines on those cars! Just WOW!!
I love that David shares his collection on social media, others with a collection of such rare cars don't really do that. Giallo and rosso both would be boring without having the other color next to it I guess. Also love the spec on David's other cars, specially the Pista Spider and the Huayra.
Call me an old codger but it's the Dino, Daytona & 275 that are just jaw-dropping - the modern ones all look like manga cartoon cars trying too hard. Guess I'll never own a Ferrari....
People can hate on someone successful, who spends more on one cars service in 1 year than their total income, but that’s life. Some people work hard; are successful financially and can do this. The luxury in latter years is that people can view this and not receive the bill! As a V12 Ferrari owner who isn’t a billionaire this is golden!
Great LA garage vlog Sam, thank you. Beautiful machines. Maybe one day Mr Lee visits London and drives your 360. I have enjoyed your Californian reports greatly, an extra 👏 On colours, the stunning Pista, smashing it out of the park. Quite taken by Bianco Avorio or Azzuro La Plata on a F12. Cool seeing two petrolheads sharing the fun and passion!
Actually, the first and real Ferrari color was not Red, but Bright Yellow. Red is the color of the Modena city where Ferrari is located. Later on, the red color became the official Ferrari color.
Not going to lie, I hate the black headlight surrounds on the Giallo F50. I think Ferrari made the right call going to body-colored headlight surrounds on the later F50s (like the Rosso F50 immediately across).
Would have to be yellow. Yes. I know. Ferraris tradition is red. But the yellow is absolutely stunning and really shows the lines of the cars. David’s such a nice guy. Comes across very humble. Great great great video
Hi Garth, I'm not sure I understand. Are you suggesting the cars are wasted? Or are you saying there are many obstacles, and the Ferrari is the needle of the car world, as it weaves through the cracked streets? I'll look forward to your reply. Regards x
I too like a David. Many say Baddiel is the best David, but to me it will forever be Seaman. Not only was he called Seaman, but he was fantastic at snooker, a sport close to my heart. Regards x
I’ve watched for years, and it’s taken me this long to notice you say ‘beautiful’ in the exact same tone as Gordon Ramsey when he’s talking about his food… I can’t un-notice it so I needed to share!

Kudos to David Lee for always remaining such a down to earth and genuinely nice guy.
Cool! David hasn't posted in months, nice to see his collection again 👍
Great comment from David about the Joy being in the hunt.

Humble and nice guy
The spec on the Pista is absolutely insane, I love it!
Isn't it just, MB? What colour water pump would you spec???
This guy is a legend. What a collection, great vid Sam. Keep up the great work

Great video, and David is a humble, fun, and entertaining guy. I prefer the yellow color over the red but like green or blue over both.

I wish I had that situation in my life.... "Wait a minute, I should collect the big 5 all in yellow" Love it!
Yellow Ferraris work for me. I remember reading somewhere that yellow was Enzos favorite color. My first new car purchase in 1976 was colored yellow.
The F40 is the F_0 car for me. Just simply simply perfect proportional design
Sam, what color blue is that SF90???
The odd thing is, I rather liked the Blue one. Not what I expected.
i don't understand how STG has only 554k subscribers this guy has amazing content!
Reading comprehension isn't your strong suite. You forgot the K. 554k. That's 554.000 followers.

David Lee is the Ferrari king! 👑
I pick the red side but the Daytona looks best in yellow. Also i would choose a Testerossa/512TR in yellow over red.
I preferred the yellow side but that 275 GTB in red was fantastic.
The 275 really is glorious
A question that did not need to be answered, but glad you did!
Having 1 red and 1 yellow of a certain Ferrari model, makes it better than just having 2 cars…. I especially love the combo.
