In this video I'll teach you how to play the classic John Denver song "Take Me Home, Country Roads" - using easy chords and easy strumming. This is such a classic song, I wanted to make this lesson to enable as many people to play this song as possible... I hope it helps! I'll be teaching it in the key of G, no capo (if you want to play along w/ John Denver's version, use a capo on the 2nd fret or switch to the key of A and use no capo).

This was the first song I learned to play, at the age of 11. To this day, 47 years later, every time I pick up my guitar, it's the first song I play. Thank you for putting this video out so others can learn this wonderful song!

For me it was otherside by red hot chilli Peppers. I was 19, I took the guitar for the first time and was practicing every day for 8 hours for next two weeks until I got it right.
Now I am 29, barely have time to play guitar but when I do I always play my first song *dedicated* to the guitar.
The old guitar that is too big for my hand (and on wich I taught myself to play) is a otherside dedicated
My 2nd guitar, cheap plastic one bought online just so the old one could survive a bit longer, is a Delilah dedication. I learned Delilah in honor of my Grandfather, he loved that song

I really dig this musician's easy going style of teaching. I appreciate how he gets that we beginners want to learn guitar by playing real songs that people actually enjoy hearing. It's too bad that trolls and haters will give videos like this one a thumbs down. I think they're missing the point entirely.

i like your style. i am currently having lesson at this time, as a new player it is easy fo rme to follow you. i take a leasson every week with a one on one tutur. highley reccomend anyone doing that starting out. i have had up to date 8 30 minute lesson and find these so helpfull. i am over 60 so it does come a little more difficult at times but is geting better each time. everyone i follow i learn that little bit more , now i can add you to my list to watch. thankyou.

In last nearly 18 months I have gone through your tutorial so many a time but couldn't play it well enough as I found difficulties in transitioning between the chords. But now I have developed it a little bit and therefore I played the song today and had fun. Thnx David sir.
Before you play a song - any song just learn to transition smoothly between all the „beginner chords“ meaning Am, E, Em, D, G and if you feel funny, even F, it’ll come to you way easier to learn any given beginner song :) startet with guitar like 4 months ago, but it’s the same as Piano, which I played for a long time :)

I've loved this song for a while, and I'm so happy I found this video. I've learned 2 chords and a song from watching this video. I'm glad you decided to show how to do the chords because I didn't know an F or a D7 but I got the hang of them really quick. When you showed the chart of the chords for the verse, chorus, and bridge, and you showed the strumming patterns, I just picked it up and sang and played it. One of my favorite decisions I've ever made is clicking on this video.

Personally I play the F chord like you showed but I use my index finger to hold down both the B and e strings on the first fret. Great video!

I've been to a lot of guitar tutorial channels on youtube, some put the tabs on the screen, but the chords just don't sound right, or they talk too much. Not much fluff in your videos, chords sound right, zoom on the fingers, tabs on screen, can't ask for much more. You just gained a sub.
