  • We are almost always the smallest boat in the Marina- but we have all we need. Join us this week as we explore Great Harbour Cay Marina and surrounding area by bike . The beaches are outstanding , and the marina has a wonderful staff and good amenities. We anchor out to leave for Bimini early but bad weather forces us to relocate in the harbour at midnight and try again the following morning. Good thing we were familiar with the pass and the harbour to do this with confidence in the dark.

The Great Harbour Cay Marina was a nice place to stop to prepare things for your trip back to the U. S. of A. Glad you had some spare time to check things out on the island. It was interesting to check out the resort that has been closed for a long time that famous people partied at.

We love Great Harbour more every time we visit. Hopefully it stays small and friendly for a long time.

Thanks for the reply, we envy you guys! We're upgrading from our RT27OB to a Cutwater 32, much less roll with the wider beam and two screws. Plus the Gennie will solve the power issues. Sail on!

Terrific video. Loved seeing Great Harbour. I think the abandoned resort you visited was the old Tamboo Club, patronized by Hollywooders and by NY socialites. The Bahamas are littered with old failed resorts -- French Leave, Cotton Bay and others. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks John. Yes, Tamboo Club! there are so many interesting stories to be heard from these bygone eras. Glad you are enjoying the videos. We appreciate your feedback.

I’m so hooked on your videos!! Question, how do you guys flush the motors when at anchor for long periods? Keep up the great content, it’s so good!

Hi John , just catching up on comments… I think I just replied to this one - sorry for the delay. We still work - the videos are just a little side gig so sometimes we fall behind 👍

Michael told me to add that we only flush the engine about four times in three months. This is not ideal, but we are in such remote locations that it is not feasible to do otherwise.

what an adventure you two (three) had in the Bahamas! I felt like I went along for the ride with you.
Do you know ball park costs for the trip?

Glad you enjoyed the ride with us Rashnak. We have never done a complete price breakdown. We will try to do so next season as many have asked.

As you were pulling out, it seemed you were listing to starboard.

You are correct Robert- very observant. We have been trying to balance the boat since we began our travels. Problem being, that the dingy isn't always on the roof and the extra motor from the dingy hangs on the port side - but only when the dingy is on the roof. Then there are full and empty gas cans and water jugs....these also affect the list. Typically we lean a bit more to the port side . We recently moved two of the batteries to the centre lazartette to try to balance things out . It is a constant juggle and fine tuning , but we are getting there.

I see your Skyline on top; can you share your experience with it? We're going to be "sort of" retirement, and we may need to be 'sort of" connect with the office. Thanks!

      Do you mean Starlink?

    • @expeditionseanest
      @expeditionseanest  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Starlink has been a game changer. We only use it near land at anchor. Works well but takes a fair bit of power. We wouldn’t be able to cruise like this without it.

Are you heading back to Bahamas in December ?

Probably not until the new year , but we will see.

Why such a small boat? Those rangers are expensive. You can get a 34+ foot trawler for less then 50k and restore and still be less then that ranger. We just got a 34 mainship we plan on doing the bahamas in only runs about 8 knots but only 2 gph and has onboard genset and water maker. Seems like you could be more comfortable and spend less on fuel... you like going really fast? Plus not flushing that outboard is not the best scenario either.

We wanted a trailerable boat. We spend our winters in the Bahamas then put the boat on the trailer in the keys. 3 days and we are on Georgian bay. Five days puts us on the west coast of British Columbia. No cost for storage, insurance is a fraction of the price and we can run 40 mph if we need to get some where fast. Although we normally cruise at 7 knots. But it's not as comfortable as a bigger boat. We only flush the outboard once a week. Not great. If I keep that up my outboard may only last 6 years. Next year I will replace the thermostats. We run all summer in freshwater.
