- In today’s video we are out mowing our own silage with the pottinger front and back mowers, serious bit of kit. I knocked all 70-80 acres of silage we had with no issues except for bending 2 knives on the back sward of the last field. Have to say seriously impressed with the mowers and you never know they may make a return yet.
Hope you enjoy, any questions hit me down in the comments below, thanks for watching. Please like and subscribe for more. Videos every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.

That's some gold standard problem solving Phil using the drone to cross the road safely, not a thing wrong with it!!
It's just like having an older version of Eric in the cab with you!!!
This video is a long time coming but I finally got it edited and only a day late🙈😂 tomorrow’s video will be coming out Friday and all going to plan Sunday’s video will be an epic tale of what can and will go wrong while at your own silage. Stay tuned for more grass based content on its way
Silage!
I see the front mud guard is gone again 😂😂😂
Are you doing bales or pit
@@newmoneyadmin6348 how ye now
Look after yourselves and keep safe 😉 We will look forward to hearing from you tomorrow ☺️.A lot going on your busy people don't realise how hard it is farming and they should know.Nice to brother getting on the act helping.Peace to you all we love Ireland 🌈🌈🌈🌈💚🌈💚🌈 🌈🌈🌈
How low do you cut to the ground, they say 6-8 cm, what do you think?
mudgaurd gone again?
Gotta love father Phil, seems like the kinda bloke you could easy sit back and have a beer with
phil spend money on the mowers or else the tax man will take it anyways
Good stuff. Great set of mowers. Fairly drop the grass with them.
them mowers i think might be staying
I'd say your spot on
Put your wedding on hold and buy the mowers am sure she will understand lol
Father Phil - invest in the Triple Pottinger mower - not the front and single rear model. The triple is perfectly weight balanced at rear, with each side counteracting each other. Yes it's a big financial commitment up front, but with the additional mower you save a lot of time on the job. Over the life of the mower there will be significant fuel savings due to the increased productivity and time efficiency. The less time jobs take, the more time you have to get other things done. Ask Pottinger to test a Triple before you purchase to see the difference.
Couldn't agree with this more.
That tractor would be able for a set of triples.
The balance is a big thing with them.
Plus our x8 have groupers on them handiest thing we ever bought
Father Phil has me in absolute knots at times!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Fantastic content, once again Phils!!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Shes a weapon Phil. Lot of guys switching to the 3pt mounted mowers here now.
Keep the front fenders Phil. It’ll look like it’s kept together! But thanks for some honest viewing.
re bonjour encore une très belle vidéo , les faucheuses sont au top et sa fait un belle ensemble avec le massey , un bon courage a vous pour la suite 😍👍👍👍👍
Love father phil
That 6499 is some weapon. Needs a butterfly on the back though
Stitching in grass seed works better after taking a heavy cut of silage as it takes longer time for the old sward to get green giving the new grass a bit chance to take, I'd spray off that grass it will get green a few days after cutting.
The 6499 is a beast of a tractor. Greetings from Belgium father Phill
I really like to know what kind of grass this is ? It is so thick ! I’m in Canada and we don’t have anything that come close to this as term of yield !
Father Phil was handy with the camera
Don’t be a tight now Philip, just buy the fecking mowers.
The 3690 with the john Deere and Kuhn and the 6499 with the two pottingers it would be class mowing 39 foot
Lovely video. Have videoed a similar set on a John Deere a few years ago. They have done at least 4 seasons mowing for a chopper. Seem to be good machines .How much power do you have in the Masssey ?
Well done Phil lovely machinery...👍
I see your Tedder is weaving to stop this tighten the bolts on the rubber blocks below the headstock we have been using Krone tedders for many years.also never use the slotted hole in the headstock fixed hole only
We tightened the bolts that evening and it stopped it straight away.
Great video Phil is bro pulling his weight
AH, Phil ! It sounds like a airplane engine starting up. Did I see that you missed the headland in the one pasture? I could not believe how quickly you were traveling. Beautiful!!
It's incredible the difference in age between the new and old setup. Trailed mowers have their place too.
Fair play. 👍 Cracking work. Stay safe 🏴
Great to see bro at it 🤙🤙🤙🤙set him up a camera in the cab for a day and let him talk away while raking , be a great video 👍👌
I agree with you get bro talking hes such a laugh and very loud 😂
the time has come yep hes teaching you lol its a killa
Even the font mower would be a serious topper
Kit looking impressive, enjoyed the video
I’m from Leitrim
At long last Phil🤙 hope all good with you all🙏👍
Where’s the triples? It would look class with triples just saying 👍
Can you Show us the 165s please 🙏
Awsome video farmer Phil what do you think about the mowers great drone footage will father Phil buy them great 👍 crop of silage 👩🌾👩🌾👍👍👌👌🏴🏴🇬🇧🇬🇧🚜🚜keep them coming stay safe
Which burnt less diesel, the pottinger or your own combination.
my first time inside the cab of a tractor lol
there is a lot of jobs to do in farming
Good man Father Phil, "Like teaching your granny to suck eggs". 😂😂😂
I haven't heard that one in years, thanks very much 🖒
Those mowers were made for 6499 💪
This was a brilliant video well done very enjoyable 👍👍
I know it is so long now 3 years lovely outfit Phil 2 quick questions when the front and rear ptos do they rotate in tandem or has each one to be started separately or do they combine in starting. Lastly over right wheel on the front did the frame of mudguard simple break off.Two beautiful mowers the Pottingers, cheers Declan best wishes always 👍👍
Wish I could join in the fun mate
Great vid today. She does look good with them on!!!
Brilliant stuff....... gwan get d cheque books out ta fook lads...
Go more than once over the ground with the Harrow or it wont work
Class bit off mowing guy's. No probably to father phil 🚜👍
Beautiful countryside scenery.
you have to buy that setup. Best way to go in the small fields.
When will the stickers for the Tractors becomeing out
Great video Phil you may keep the mowers some set up they look great on the 6499
Farmer/Father Phil who did ye buy the 6499 off as my uncle sold one 2 or 3 years ago
Ned Murphy tractors in Wexford
Great stuff Phil!
I hear your name on Shannonside breakfast show this morning
21:33, good thinking.
Will you buy the mowers
Great set up
Yeah think father Phil will be keeping those mowers by the sound of it , night night father phil sleep tight I know mother Phil will be reading your bedtime stories 👍🏴
Junior is Teaching the Teacher 👨🏼🏫……😂😂 great video guys!!!
Brave man using a drone to cross the road 😬 grate video of the mowers n the big Massey looks well👌

Great video phil
The silage time agen
👍
Nice demo mowers our farm has the same a Vicon and lely
it looks well 👌👌💯💯
How ye now
I’am gonna have to go back a few vids to see where the 6499 came from, you look like a lottery winner & was there 3 acres or more in the field in this vid
To be fair Phil, the 64 looks nicer without the mudguards, also loving the mowers👍
Nooooooooo! Keep the fenders! It looks ‘together’ then. But I’m one voice amongst many 😂.
@@Bandannaband No lad, the 36 needs a no front fender buddy😂😂😎🚜
@@noahairsofting3768 Well, you may have a point! But let’s face it, when tractors started coming out with front fenders, they started to look goooood 😂. But I’ll concede on this one 😉
@@Bandannaband Its 1-0 at half time, will Bandan be able 2 bounce back who knows, we'll find out after the break😂😂😂
@@noahairsofting3768 I’m currently sitting here wondering how to come back on this one! Is there a time limit 😂
2 mighty characters
You can put a lot down using two mowers. I use a 8 ft 1162 Gehl disc mower.
great video, only problem is you should have turned tractor off when checking blades at end, only takes few seconds but could save a life if anything went wrong
Some setup alright. It looks to be a beast of a yoke. Very interesting, very safe & using your head, by having the drone in the air, to look at the road. Well done. 👏👏
Great video again.Keep it up. 👏👏👍👍
Please spray the two fields off it doesn’t work if u don’t ,trust me . I learnt the hard way
Phil u should stick the 3690 on the fusion because it’s not getting enough runs out and the 6499 is doing it all
Them mowers suit the 6499…
Are you going to be driving the claas jaguar this year phil?
Great vlog phil, Great bit of kit....teasing ye....
Just tell McCullagh to not bother picking it up....
Yous may buy them mowers Phil. Great match
Great video, could you do another machinery tour please.
Tell me about 'salted eggs' like granny makes
Love vid
Mudguard 🤣🤣🤣
What a lot of grass Phil that will keep you going wow
Just buy it
Father Phil is on the job
mudgaurd gone again 🤦♂️😂
Is that a mud guard gone again?
Nice 😁👍
Yourself and Father Phil will have to get the chequebook out...lovely mowing outfit...
Love the mowers.
Try krone mowers
Poor Granny
The next thing you need to try is a triple mower set up , two on the back and one on the front. It would be some job then.
Good think you explained the triples they might not have know what you were on about other wise
@@gregshearer423 😂👍
Woulda ya.not buy a.few.locknuts in the the co op lad for the mud guards.maybe a few spring washers if there just bolts
That would really annoy me driving with 1 mud gard on the front 😂
