Good video as always Manong! I used the long screws for the mounting. Basically in order for you to mount it in am4/am5 without using the universal bracket for lga/am4/am5 you will have to use the long screws then direct attach it to the am4/am5 attachment of the cooler. This is if your universal bracket is touching something in the mobo. The long screws creates an better mounting pressure since my temps for my 5800x is lower in cinebench by 2-3 C. The 90mm fans in my setup I think lowers the capability a bit, so I contracted a 3d printing shop and printed a 120mm fan bracket for my x53 and the b550i aorus pro. I replaced the 90mm fan and installed a with arctic p12 max and I can use 115 w of tdp in my pbo and has 75-77 c in my cinebench. The 120mm fan helped also the vrm since the excess will also cool the vrms on my mobo.
Just ordered this one recently in preparation for my cpu upgrade. Do you think it can handle a 5800x3d aswell? I'm planning to be using it for 1080p competitive gaming. I'm using a metalfish case btw so temps is a big deal. If it can't handle it maybe I'll be just waiting for a 5700x3d or just a 5700x.
the full black, maybe. this one? maybe not without crippling its power. the cache gets really hot. probably wait for the 5700X3D results since that has a much lower TDP EDIT: TDP specs got leaked for the 5700X3D, its 105W like the 5800X3D. so it will still be a toasty boi
5800x runs hotter than the 5800x3d so you can run it using this. Agree with the earlier comment, you can get the full black to be safe. Ordered one from Lazada last year since it has a sale and I got the full black to replace my black x53. EDIT: Lazada is for the full black then Amazon for the black x53.
Can you test it with noctua fans? I would like to see the difference with the black ridge cooler with noctua fan. Is this the full copper black version?
RE: Noctua and Thermalright, based on experience, the stock Thermalright fans are at most 1C hotter than Noctua's, though Noctua's are quieter. This isn't the full copper.
