  • With some of the easier mini-games out of the way, these tougher mini-games are ready to raise frustration levels and cause controllers to be thrown. First, Diddy Kong must protect balloons from klaptraps in Balloon Panic. Then, Koopa Troopa has to try and stop a rampaging mechanical King Koopa in Mecha-Bowser Mayhem. However, these both pale in comparison to Gooper Blooper Volley, in which Petey Piranha challenges a fellow Mario Sunshine foe to return a tennis ball 100 times in a row! Will these incredibly difficult and annoying challenges be won on this day!? Find out in this video!
Since I hate Gooper Blooper Volley and have sympathy for anyone who tries to attempt it, here is some useful information.
    1. The color panels on Gooper Blooper's side of the court indicate where he will hit the ball next on your side (a little flash of light also helps).
    2. Only green and yellow panels appear on Gooper Blooper's side for the first 20 hits, then all four colors appear from 20 - 60 hits. After 60 hits, a flashing "random" panel can also appear that will have its color determined by when the ball bounces.
    3. One section of the court will be out (marked with an X) for the first 40 hits, then two sections for 40 - 90 hits, then three sections for 90+ hits.
    4. Use lob shots (A-B) and drop shots (B-A) throughout -- do not rely on normal hits after the first 40 returns
    5. Stay focused and don't get distracted. You can do this!

On the Wii version you only need 5,10, and 20 for Hooper blooper valley. Guess they decided to reduce it because of how hard it is

I can sympathize with you are Gooper Blooper Volley. Just watching it was difficult, yet, I believed you were going to conquer that challenge. I even had on Serious Monkey Business: 1-14 A New Place (Hot-Head Bop) [Donkey Kong Country 2 / OC ReMix] music by Overclocked Remix. It's a great song and I would recommend it to you and anyone else who is a fan of remixed video game songs or just enjoy the Donkey Kong Country series. They have a link on TH-cam if you are interested.

A rogue-like tennis mini-game? Look at Nintendo, being way ahead of the curve!

Just a couple of small notes: One, the original Rogue-like, Rogue itself, came before the Atari games came out-before there was a mass market of computers, and it was only on college computers. It was one of the first video games of all time.
Two, before this trend of rogue-likes appeared, Nintendo actually licensed Pokemon out to Chunsoft to make a Pokemon based installment of the Mystery Dungeon series, a long running series of games that were exclusive to Japan for awhile, one that is entirely made of more traditional rogue-likes.

I already knew about the history of Rogue and that interesting genre-bend, but thank you. In fact, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon was released state-side, though it doesn't appear to have done very well.
