Have you ever had the pleasure of experiencing Daniil Trifonov live in concert?
No ,but its my dream
I will in 3 weeks.
Yes, at the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra years ago.
Man i wish
@@lorantskulteti6776 F
I first heard this when watching Somewhere in Time (1980), that was 44 years ago and absolutely love it ! 😊
Same!!!
great movie and the music was so fitting with the subject! I visited the film location on Mackinac island, Michigan, beautiful place
Me, too. Took me many years to identify it. Now to learn to play it.
one of the greatest romantic pieces ever written
I agree!
THE greatest romantic piece ever written
What about Tchaikovsky and his piano concert? 🤔
I agree...
@@97kos a close second... Then Rach 2
I have a master's degree in piano performance, and I am here to tell you this is the most beautiful segment of music ever written! And this performance is magical!!
thanks!
Very beautiful indeed. I'm in love with it. I play piano only a little bit, but even so I'm trying to play this music. It's a challenge that I want so much to win.
@@joaofabiocese764 You will win! Have faith in yourself. GBU.
There is no doubt this music is out of this world and I play it @ all my gig's. This pianist is purely magnificent. GBU on your journey.
I heard the Paganini Rhapsody live years ago, and during this variation, I looked around to see half the audience wiping away tears, as was I. If there is a more beautiful three minutes of music out there, I've never found it. I don't know what universe Rachmaninoff came from, but I want to spend eternity there. He simply has no equal. I wish he did!
So well said Michael. This piece of music is heavenly. The musicians in that orchestra were in the presence of the genius at the piano, as well as the spirit of Rachmaninoff.
Not true, Beethoven No. 5 emperor
Hi Michael, beside this Rachmaninov piece ive only had the expierience of this emotion during the Conercto d Aranjuez 2nd movement. Expecially the end part.
@@theory-of-a-mad-man7781 I had to look that one up. I wasn't familiar with it. That is one somber piece, and that ending, with the oboe and bassoon is indeed haunting.
How beautifully said.
Dear Daniil Trifonov... I'm just a 15 year-old who loves music and playing the piano more than anything else. Today I discovered you and became your big fan. This piece of music brings tears into my eyes every time I listen to it. The one and only Russian sense of harmony and your special tone colour mixed together makes this piece really extraordinary and unique. Thank you
One of the most touching comments I've ever read. :)
Music brings people together.
I mean rachmaninoff deserves some merit too
Oh my god that's a really sweet comment ever😄
15 is old. I'm only 8.
The gentleness and emotion with which he played this piece made me tear up. Absolutely stunningly beautiful.
Buenas noches desde México

Tengo 60 años y me trae GRANDES RECUERDOS VIENEN A MÍ MENTE
The pianist was not on the same planet us when he was playing that song, he became the music.
We had this for my grandmother's funeral, I'd never heard it in full before, just a snippet, which I tried to hum to the music instrument shop , they knew immediately..... Beautiful piece of music , and of course ... Reminds me of my dear, gentle grandmother!
Tranquillo che tua nonna vive con Gesù nel suo regno d'amore, preparato per tutti noi. ❤👍🎶🎵🌈

Thank you very much
Very nice words
👍 Ciao! Un saluto ed un abbraccio da Roma. My name is Francesco.👋
Come to think of it, I have never heard Daniil Trifonov speak. However, when I hear him play, its like I've known his voice for a very long time.
I’m 16 and finally learned this piece and ever since I heard it 10 years ago I’ve wanted to play this work it truly is amazing. Rach has since become a huge inspiration to me. I am now in the memorizing process of his fantasy pieces and working on the etudes tableaux. Music has been an escape from reality for me in ways that I can’t begin to describe. Thank you Rach.
This by far is the best live version i have heard. the guy is on point.
And Lugansky
I totally ahree
Trifonov is awesome!
I think this is the most beautiful interpretation I heard on TH-cam. I actually got emotional watching and listening this.
Because you haven’t still heard Yunchan Lim !!!
Gracias Rach
I love the 18th variation. It was my grandmothers favorite piece of music. It's beautiful and this version is sublime, but I get very emotional while listening. It resonates so deeply inside me and makes me miss my lovely grandmother desperately.
Touched my heart, from the first notes. I am listening again and again. I see that Trifonov is truly sincere when he plays this, and--did anyone notice the conductor? He clearly feels it in his heart too.💖 Such joy to have this.
Danill Trifonov is a gift from God!
Trifonov caresses the piano with so much passion...!!!! A very brilliant pianist.
Sempre me emociono quando ouço esta obra prima.
It's a killing performance by both the pianist and the orchestra.
The most beautiful piece of music. Ever written. 🥺
One of the most beautiful thing ever composed
Makes you wonder what Chopin would have thought of Rachmaninoff. I'm sure he would have had great admiration.
HEEHEEHEEHAW
My most favorite piece in the whole world, featured in the movie "Somewhere in Time". He plays the piano masterfully and with extreme expression. So impressive indeed
I watched a montage of "Somewhere in Time" last night. To hear Rachmaninov as well as the score from John Barry was truly magical!
@@caroleborsu Yeah, I've never heard of this piece until I watched the movie. Amazing its only 3 minutes from an 18 minute long piece.
Also a main song in Groundhogs Day 🥰
It is played during a dramatic scene in Paris from the movie Ronin, with good guy Robert de-Nero
That movie is where I learned of this song, and I wish I hadn't haha. That movie was so bad, I wish I had learned of this song from something less humorous. This song deserves a media more regal.
First time hearing Daniil Trifonov playing and I was amazed. I paid attention to the details (e.g. tempo, emotional expression, etc.) and this is one of the best version of the Variation 18.
If people were truly honest
many would have to agree
that for sheer beauty of sound
there is not much in this century
that can compete with this
in all of music
A true orchestral gem from Rach
Beautiful. I am moved to tears.
Glad you enjoyed it
I cry every time I hear this piece. It is so beautifully interpreted by the pianist and the orchestra. The classical musician in me just soars when I hear it.
Trifonov makes love to the Piano! Superb!!!
Other Steinways get jealous.
I like Daniil's rendition of this piece the most! He truly feels what this music is about
He has a connection with Rachmaninov that transcends time.
Makes me cry desperately..... Magnificent.
I listen to this on sunday 15 march 2020, there is a crisis in the world with the Corona virus all over the world and in my country the Netherlands, but keep faith, international solidarity, take care of each other: and Rachmaninoff music is stronger than Corona. I wish you all the best, good health.
Sat listening to this track four and a half years later, because watching Somewhere in Time reminded me how much I love it, and hoping that you are as well as it is beautiful.
one word ! mesmerized.
Pure magic. I love the Russian composers.
The most beautiful piece in classical music..! Love this..!
This guy was born part piano.
Hahaha....😆😍😄🎶🎹🎹🎹🎻🎻🎹🎶🎵
There’s a pianis joke in there
An outstanding, sensitive performance of this segment. Thanks.
The most beautiful interpretation of this piece so far is by Trifonov
The most beautiful piece all the times.
I think this young man was born to play piano. I love him always.
I like how this beautiful melody came into by inverting it
💕💕💕💕
The bows all moving in synchronization, the conductor waving his hands like he’s lifting the harmony, Trifonov jolting with emotion... it’s so beautiful
I’m obsessed with this variation in particular, wonderful playing!
Mr. Trifonov, Christopher Reeves and Paganini are giving you a standing ovation in Heaven. Magnificent and Thank You.
Rachmaninov too.
Great technical prowess and amazing artistic expression. The best.
Wowowowowow. One of the most impassioned, stately and eloquent renditions
no words ... just feel
0:53 is one of the best and most beautiful moment in classical music
Thank you all the fantastic musicians out there who bring such joy to us all.🇬🇧
Yo no sé, si hay un cielo. Pero esta música, sería el camino .
It is so hard finding a moving interpretation of the 18th variation, but this one excels. Bravissimo!
Could not agree more! Trifonov is amazing!!!
My life could come to an end listening to Daniil play this! OMG!🤩🤩
Sat on the bus to work in tears listening to this. The embodiment of beauty in music.
Linda ❤ trilha sonora do filme...Em Algum Lugar do Passado.
Je me suis perdu "quelque part dans le temps" Cette musique m'a bouleversé, merci
With kisses of Elise Mc Kenna and Richard Collier...
One of the most wonderful pieces in the music history. Thank you Sergej Rachmaninov for this timeless masterpiece.
You can tell by the way he plays the piano how passionate he is in his craft. So talented. So magnificent. So blessed. ❤
So that's what this magical piece of music is called... absolutely gorgeous! 🥰
Incredible orchestra too, and the pianist almost looks like he's about to meld with that piano, he's so engaged in it 😄😊
Heard this when I watched a film called Ronin, when there's a lady figure skating proper gracefully.
So UTTERLY and COMPLETELY BEAUTIFUL, MOVES MY SOUL......
Trifonov plays with his entire body and soul. We are so lucky to be here in his lifetime.
We land the whole piece through softly despite the piece containing lots of passion and temperament, very beautiful interpretation.
I live in Colombia, Covid-19 has struck us very hard, our government is bullshit and the economy is in a really bad shape. But here I am listening this brilliant pianist. Classic music makes me forget all the bad things in the world.
What brilliant artistes - everyone of them! Such beauty!
Beautiful. I had forgotten how beautiful that piece is.
STUNNING PLAYING!!!
ye
My mom's favorite piece of music stunningly beautiful❤
Great performance of a beautiful masterpiece
Magnificent!! Thank you. GBU.
Never seen a pianist get on top of it as much as this dude. Well done.

Preuve que la poursuite du beau en art nous est radicalement bénéfique..!!
It’s a beautiful piece ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Today I heard this song for the first time at a live orchestra. I went home and to find it and save it forever. It's so beautiful. During the whole song I only thought about my mother and how much I love her. Thank you for sharing this video. Really thank you
The sheer perfection of his playing is out this world 😳
this piece.... if there was ever an angelical creation writing music... this was it.... absolutely marvelous and out of this world!!! thank you Sergei
Oh, so elegant, what emotion... what style!.... BRAVO!!!
I am in love with this variation. period.
Wow truly beautiful
The best interpretation of this variation.
Absolutely gorgeous piece. Performed so splendidly
Glad you like it!
So amazing, touching and inspiring...speechless....
That was amazing.
Rach didn't have to go so hard 😭 king 🙏
Bravo Danil! A stunning rendition of my favourite classical piece of all time.
Is it possible to listen without cry? I really want to perform this piece or watch this live in concert. Really well played and it's an amazing piece.
Beautiful.
I am touched by his performance. Thank you.
The most tender performance on TH-cam - others a bit heavy-handed - luxury string sound too
I’m 2 years old and this is my favorite song.
FANTASTIC! Incrivel
Lacrime..,un capolavoro e un pianista immenso
Great music & playing, congratulations !
que emoção, que lindo....
Que preciosidad de música y el intérprete magnifico❤
The most exquisite and expressive performance of this movement I have EVER heard. In raptures!
As said elsewhere when words fail us music begins. Very much true in this case.
Adoro esse pianista!
Oh Dios, que dulzura, qué hermosura, gracias!
wonderful, simpley Wonderful.
You are a great artist Daniel ! Complimenti !
I remember you when you played in Milan at the conservatory G.Verdi
