  • Here is a video of how to remove/replace the license plate bulb in your Toyota Venza. I do know there is ALSO a way to unscrew 3 screws that will remove the external back plate.

    Thank you for the video. I was having a horrible time trying to take the panel off and with your help I can see where to pry the clips.

    I used a small 1/2 inch open end wrench to twist the assembly out. Fit perfect!

    Thanks for the video. Between that and reading the comments it was easy. I marked the socket with a sharpie before I took it out, so I knew it was going back the same way. Put a little bulb grease on the socket and it turned in with 2 fingers.

    After you get the inside panel off, on each side of the bulb is a tab; squeeze both to release the plastic light fixture. If you roll the fixture sideways (a bit of a hassle but it can be done) you can access the bulb from the outside of the rear gate. For me, at least, that was easier. Used needle-nosed pliers to hold the fixture steady while I replaced the bulb.

    Shits way to complicated for a license plate light

      @@vandshome when you say little plastic cover you mean that big ass cover that goes between the tail lights that you had to unscrew the nuts from the inside correct you basically add to almost take apart the interior and exterior of the hatch to get this done, correct?

      @vandshome 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vette4118 yes you have to take the hatch plastic off. The little plastic cover is the clear cover where the light shines through to the license plate. I believe it’s to screws.

      @@vette4118 - I believe Shawn pushed the bulb and socket right out through the back door so that its hanging out over the license plate... and he's referring to the little plastic "lens" that you can push out. I also pushed it out just a little bit, and though.. oops, I better not push this out because i'll never be able to get it back in.. I didn't see any screws that attach this light housing.. just sort of a "clip".

  • @vette4118

    All right, figured it out so the key is positioning the socket perfectly to get The notches of the socket into the grooves of the lens housing that's the hard part you've got a really figure out how to get that down now if you notice when the socket is in place and the wire harness plug is plugged into the socket that wire harness plug is at the 12:00 position so you basically have to have The notches somewhere in the vicinity of the top being at 11 the bottom being at about 5:00 and then what you're going to do is one finger from each side or two fingers from each side meaning your left hand coming from the left of that ridiculous bracket blocking everything and your right hand coming from the right hand side of that ridiculous bracket the two holes either side of the bracket the left hole left hand, the right hole right hand, you reach in and what I did, was my left hand two fingers had the bottom of the socket the right hand two fingers had the top of the socket again, once I had it perfectly positioned, and for dear life I tried to create as much torque with both hands using two fingers on each hand obviously pushing creating as much clamping force and turning for dear life and thank God it turned, what I also did was used some chapstick I was going to use vaseline, I always use Vaseline in these types of situations to reduce the friction and create more slippage, went to the local gas station no vaseline, figure chapstick has enough petroleum in it, it did, it worked a treat, but that's what you got to do lube it up, and give it a twist once you position it perfectly, with both hands and just pray you can get enough strength and torque through your two fingers on the top and your two fingers on the bottom push squeeze twist

      Thanks Dik for telling me my video was worthless. I think most people who has ever had a car understands the basics of installing a bulb. That is the easy part.. actually turning the bulb once it’s seated is difficult because of the bracket, which is in the way, as you and I have both noted. I do like that you’ve added the part about applying some lubricant! That’s a great idea. So for that I can overlook you being rude and insulting.

      @@avp0713 heat of the moment bro, I was out there for 90 minutes messing with that thing and I wanted to kill people, but once it was done it wasn't as bad but the lubricant and using the two hand method was the way to go, it's Toyota's fault, not yours, but just let the video run next time and let people see you torture yourself because at least that way we get some kind of idea all you have to do is speed up the film at that point like other people do when TH-cam videos where they triple speed it and you time lapse through the process, but I do appreciate your efforts

      Hey Boris T, some other people on this thread mentioned to use a little "bulb grease" on the socket.. and it will turn easier. I'm not sure what "bulb grease" actually is... but maybe WD40 or there is also electrical grease... "Permatex Grease - $5.00 at Home Depot) that will make it go in easier.

      I do mention in the video that others have removed the entire plate on the inside of the back hatch; I looked for the "six bolts" and could not locate them. SMH... something so simple should not be so labor intensivie. Honestly in my younger years... I would just use a set of metal snippers and cut through the metal inside the hatch where nobody can see it. But I took the high road.
