New Subscriber here! Really happy I found your channel.
I really enjoyed your video!! Greens look great. Thanks for the tips. I’m growing. Red mustard green, will harvest some next week. Thanks
Ooh, red mustard greens sound divine. They are really pretty! I might pick up some seeds. Lol😎
Great video. I also sometimes use old coffee diluted I pour the cup inot a 5 gallon bucket and fill with water that seems to do well as a liquid fert. I do only drink black coffee, sometimes I add molasses to it which is also good for plants. Dilute is important.
Old coffee is great! I use my husband's spent grinds. Didn't know about the molasses but it makes sense because it's high in iron and other vitamins. TFS!
Just subscribed 😊. I love mustard leaves. They taste yummy with rice and a good curry.
Yes they do
another good way.. is to pickle them . delicious
I came for the mustard info. I stayed for the good lookin lady.
🥰
I've never grown any mustard greens, but plan on it this year. This past spring I finally growed some Pak Choi for the first time which really turned out amazing and to what I see, the growing of those isn't much different from this vegetable. What I like about the pak choi was when all the other things in my garden suffered from the artic blast of 2023, my pak choi THRIVED.
Good stuff! I love Pak Choi. I'm planting some in a few days. Glad you found that little treasure of a veggie plant!
Enjoying your video. New sub here👍🏾
Thank you, love!
Awesome Video! Giving it a try. :)
Thank you, Starlet! Did you grow the greens?
Thanks!
Great video!
Thank you, Libby! And thanks for stopping by.
Im glad I found your video. Im about to plant some mustard greens and lettuce for the first time. I was surprised they dont attract more pest. Thanks!
Good luck and glad I could help, Eric!

I am growing some mustard greens ☺️I just hope mine will be as wonderful as yours 😊happy planting
I hope so too! Best of luck, lady. Btw, I'll be able to catch your lives when I'm done transforming my garden.
Yes!!! I LOVE growing mustard greens! Thanks for sharing! New subscriber here! Your channel is great! - Taryn
Thank you, Taren, for the kind words. I love me some greens too!
First year i grew mustard greens it was giant red spicy mustard. I harvested at 28 degrees. I like to sear the most tender parts in a hot skillet. I haven't tried boiling the bigger stalks but i want to.
Now I want some Giant Red Spicy Mustard seeds! lol You are a soldier to harvest at 28 degrees but I'll bet the cold make them extra delicious!
@@TheMessyHomesteader I hope you find some. It was definitely a victory over the grocery store.
Loving it!!! Your backyard looks so tranquil. I want to start gardening in my backyard. But I live in an urban area.
Very Informational Video. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful!

This is really helpful! Will be planting some mustard greens this weekend for fall harvest. Thank you!
Wonderful! How did it go, Meghan?
@@TheMessyHomesteader they're looking great! I have great output, but had some pest issues for first harvest, lots of holey leaves. But it seems to have resolved a bit seemingly on it's own. I'm still a novice gardener, so working through pests is a new world 😅
Great info
Thank you, Terrence!
Thank you. I just planted today. Wish me luck.
You can do it, Robert! Good Luck!
They’ve already sprouted!
i just started this year. i will put them in the ground. i let them sit to become roomtemperature they where in the refigarator.
I am already a sub lol. Gteat information.
Awesome thank you! Good to see you Gt!! I've been so focused on my other homeschooling channel the last few months that I'm missing my garden buddies, dearly!
In my country Suriname we call it Amsoi
I love the way mustard greens grow(so fast) I just can't eat them cuz of the spice. Haha, i know, i'm wimpy.
Pour off the first water which is bitter and add more water
You suggested broadcasting and giving them up. I tried last year putting them in rows but I think I planted them too deep.
I had that problem too. I've found that broadcasting (and thinning when they sprout) or planting just 1/2 in deep works well. HTH!
I use tool which they can’t get through
I wanted to know how to find the seeds in the flower of the mustard greens. Or is it the green in the center of the flowers?
Then mustard look good
They taste GOOD!
I am 7 years old
I need help my greens keep being ate up, I've tried and tried What do I do. Tessa
Are there caterpillars on your greens? Look closely and underneath the leaves. You can usually see the green caterpillars. If not, look for tiny black round pellets (poop), it’s from the caterpillars. Usually the white moths that look like white butterflies are laying eggs on your greens. Put a cloth or netting over your plants to keep them from reaching the leaves. HTH!
How long it take for n
Mustard greens to grow
So I can grow mustard greens in late spring in North Carolina?
I'm in zone 10b (southern Cali), Chief. Check your last frost date and then plant week or 2 after.
Hi,thanks for your very watchable video.I'm wondering why every time I grow Zim Tsunga the plants bolt (flower) too early, any suggestions please?
Not sure of that variety, Neil. Make sure it's compatible with your garden zone. Bolting means it's too warm/hot for the plant. What zone are you in?
@TheMessyHomesteader hi,thanks for your reply. I'm not sure what other, possibly more familiar, names there are either. I think they are a mustard though. I live in the s.e of England, what I call ,the Costa del London, joking.
Where did you buy seeds?
My big brother 47
How deep of soil bed do i need ? thankyou.
Not very deep. My garden bed was 6 inches deep.
@@TheMessyHomesteader TY 😊
The fish emulsion is NOT 5-11
It is 5-1-1. This means 5% nitrogen, and 1% phosphorus and 1% potassium
Yes, you’re right. It is 5-1-1, but many gardeners say 511 courtesy of The New Orleans Gardener channel. It’s a gardener’s slang if you will. But I understand that newbies might not get that so thanks for pointing that out!
