If they made $2 million a year. They would be millions in debt. Nothing would change.
100%
Yup...most have not an income issue they just are freaking idiots.
Exactly. This is a character issue, not a math issue.
Well yeah cuz they'd have to throw $3 million a year into cars and woodworking so they can make $10 million 😅
I agree!
Suddenly my situation is okay.

I listen to these shows sometimes to make me feel better about my situation haha.

That never occurred to me but you’re right! I enjoy her, too
Dave always cuts to the chase. It's his superpower.
"Debt-Spidersense's" tingling....
$200K is a strong income with no minor children in the home. If you can't figure out how to live on $200K, you got bigger problems than just the dollar and cents!
I own my own house and live quite well off of $45k a year. I don't know what the hell I'd do if I made 200K a year. My 401 K is 50K, my ira roth is at 30K (both growing)

I propose that if Dave Ramsey is on air, please remove all the sidekicks. Like they don’t need to be there when Dave is present 😂
Agree. So much better by himself.
Yah, the point is they are supposed to be learning. If they have an expertise pertaining to the call, it usually works better. (all of them do have diffrent ones) but in stuff like this late boomer with 3 car loans & a trailer to haul his stuff to craft shows, who can't figure out how to live on 200,000 a year & basically blames his wife, Dave is a master
He cut her tf off lol
Idk I enjoy them especially the shrink
Agreed. They are so darn redundant to keep around, like they are some kinda pet
This call is a perfect example of why Dave is SOOO much better to have on these calls than the other Ramsey personalities. The years and years and years of experience that Dave has lets him zero in on the real issues that the caller has. Jade just seems like she is reading from the Ramsey playbook on what to tell a caller. Too often Jade listens to 30 seconds of a caller and immediately declares "well that right there is your problem" and then ignores anything else the caller has to say. Dave has a real knack for working through the caller's nonsense and uncovering the real issue.
100% agree. Callers like this have deep seeded psychological problems. Jade is worried about where he keeps his credit cards, meanwhile this guys entire worldview needs a seismic shift
@@TonyCox1351 Exactly!
Also, caller said 401k loan repeatedly and Jade called it a HELOC twice. Doesn't she listen?
Give Jade some time. She has gotten out of her own mess like a champion. She can help people.
True, but imagine if you had to do your on the job training next to your highly demanding and rigid boss live on air with millions of people. Let's give her some grace.

Homie is $100K in consumer debt, taking loans from his 401K, trying to “retire early”
Exactly...this isn't rocket science but seems to be for many.
well, you can't be an American without doing something financially stupid
It's the same with excersize/ weight. People will do everything to avoid eating less and moving more.
He is one of those people that are just hardwired to live on 150% of what they make. It doesn't matter how much money comes in, he will always want to spend more than that. Until he can fix that, there is no hope.
Yep. They could triple his salary he would still be totally broke.
Spend more than you earn, that's the American way.
Also hardwired to probably start a lot of "businesses " and nothing really pans out
Exactly....my niece makes good money but she over spends on crap. But you try to talk to her about she just doesn't get it.
Jack is $140K in debt and he started a woodworking business not to get out of debt but "to fund an early retirement." He's on his second marriage and kids are out of high school, so he's probably in his early 50s, so at most he's got around 10 years remaining to actually retire early.
The woodworking business loses money, but Jack keeps pouring money into it.
The woodworking business loses money, but Jack puts more time into it than a full-time job.
Jack has debt on the trailer used for the business and it's likely that _a_ _lot_ of Jack's money is going into buying woodworking equipment.
Dave said it at 7:50. Jack has an expensive hobby that he wishes was a business.
Jack, you're hiding from real life in your wood shop.
He hiding from reality and And the marriage!
@@JessicaLovely1 I thought the same thing, at first, but he said that they go to the craft shows together and he implied that his wife works with him in the woodshop.
Jack borrows money to from his retirement to fund an early retirement🤔🤔
I think the woodworking is a way for him to avoid the reality of his spending habits. If he spends 8 hours woodworking he doesn’t have to face the fact that he’s living above his means. He even says that he and his wife made a budget and “something comes up” meaning his budget was spending all of their $200K income and not leaving any extra
Jack and his wife spent how much on their HUGE 2nd wedding?
Very unnecessary and immature.
As soon as the guy mentioned the ex-husband, I knew what the problem was; the wife is dragging the ship down with old issues. The guy can’t say that.
Working 8 hours a night and losing 10,000 a year on it. Well that's an easy answer.
Right, he could just bag groceries and be much farther ahead
Losing, not loosing
Yes. The answer is "learn the difference between "lose" and "loose".
Keep grinding? 😂
The business he started to “fund an early retirement” 😅
I live on a clerk salary in California and it's enough. It blows my mind when I hear people making $200K struggling. Moments like this makes me happy that I am single.

It’s hard to have sympathy on people who make $200,000 a year and can’t get out of debt 😮
I find it hilarious that people get offended when he says their side business is a hobby. If you don't make money, it isn't a business! He would be better off watching TV. He would save $10k per year. Just imagine if he were to get a part time job in the side. Wow!
The IRS says it is a hobby if you lose money for I think 5 years. Then no deductions for you

Mistake made 2 years ago. Getting married. Started out of control spending. Calls his hobby a business. But plenty of income to dig out of their debt.
How can you have 220k in Ohio, and be in debt?
Two wives, 3 vehicles, and an inability to say no.
They are so right about so many things. Get organized, sell stuff, live in less than you make, and work together. This is so doable, but ONLY WITH EFFORT.
It's not rocket surgery, is it.
He doesn't want to do the work
I used to be 120,000 in the hole. Now im only 50K in debt. Im almost there. This is all a valuable lesson for me on how to manage my money and not use credit cards excessively.

You should be proud of yourself, keep going!
And never get married
You are doing awesome!! Keep up the great work!!
@@AnnaSzaboWrong!! We have a great marriage - no debt, paid-off house, nice retirement savings, an emergency fund, etc. Why? We worked on it TOGETHER.
The biggest issue is that they aren’t on the same page. It doesn’t matter if one person wants out of debt if the other won’t cooperate. Jade is serving as usual.
Who in the world needs two car loans and a trailer loan? Seems like an easy decision to sell all of those. How is this difficult?
He said he's funding his daughter's car. I wonder how old she is and whether it's a necessity or a want.
@@poolmilethirty2859a necessity is four wheels and an engine. Anything extra is just more money wasted.
@@poolmilethirty2859 Why would anyone take a loan out on a vehicle, much less for their kid?

Probably just graduated but he couldn't afford it
Anyone else able to follow this guy because I can't. He makes 200 grand a year. He is flat broke. He blames it on a 4,000 old bill his wife owes And he is "funding an early retirement with a woodworking business that loses 10K a year"? Step 1. Stop the woodworking business. Keep the 10 grand a year. I just made this guy an extra 10K a year.
Instructions unclear, closed woodworking business and replaced it with an even MORE expensive hobby.
And sell the trailer he uses for it.
He's living in another reality. He talks like those old bills just came out of nowhere even though they were known before he got married. And he's talking about early retirement when he doesn't have the assets and discipline to retire late.
Viva USA... and Dave!

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Whenever you hear to make a long story short, you know a blabber mouth is coming up.
Honestly, they are NOT making that long story short. They're taking up just as much time yapping about whatever they say instead of giving the actual details they left out.
Dave needs to stop interrupting Jade and allow her to talk. Show a little respect to your cohost because she’s awesome and makes valid points. I’m normally not critical of Dave but I’ve seen him do this before to her.
Those who have massive debt always think they deserve early retirement
I am in my shop 8 hrs every night to 9 pm. So you work to 1 pm.
This guy has more excuses than my golf game…
200k a year household and still having this much debt makes no sense to me
So glad I found Dave Ramsey. My dad tried teaching me his ways many years ago and I ignored it (like an idiot) but sometimes it takes hearing it from someone else. Debt will be paid off in the next two months and cash flowing grad school. Then it will be grinding hard for 2-3 years for a down payment on my first house. It’s never too late to turn things around even at 33 years old.
This caller came out the woodwork.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 He needs to stay out!
Literally!
I’m retiring at 54.5 and I’m 47 in July. This guy will be working until he is dead
What if u don’t make it to see 54.5
@@KaseemWalker-ow4wo I’ll be with lord Jesus. My eternal plan is set and my retirement is set at 54.5.
I know what the Bible is saying and you might just learn what it teaches about the topic
for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, "Peace and safety," destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.
At 200k income, you can easily pay this off.
Jade is like Rachel, a lost puppy sitting next to Dave! Might have to improve her note-taking skills as HELOC is not 401K loan.🙈
Same function. Rob your future and put a long term burden on your kids
Jade is great at some things but with a late boomer, Dave can give a master class. Yes still using cc is a problem but not the problem
People don’t understand the difference between a NEED and a WANT.
My sense: they had a great time dating, keeping their finances separate, each being disorganized and making bad decisions. Then they combined and had to get serious, and it's a real relationship shakeup. It was more fun to date and each go on their merry debt filled ways.
I had a side hustle once and once things declined to the point of "breaking even" I packed it in. I wasn't going to put in hours of work for no pay. This fellow is way past the point of packing in the side hustle.
A lot of people just don't understand how to do life. They have absurd values and priorities. Rules and dogma can put band-aids on that, but can't fix it. It's just not realistic to go though life doing stupid stuff and not expect catastrophic outcomes.
People have a lot more consumer credit at their immediate disposal than they did decades ago. So there's a much, much higher potential to dig yourself into a hole. Can do does not equate to should do.
That first sentence is so true. Not knowing how do this thing called "life" messes a lot of people up. This man however, is knocking ok retirement ages door, and he still hasn't figured it out. He will be working forever
1. Cut up and cancel all credit cards.
2. Stop buying on credit
3. See if you can get a loan from your bank for all the debt.
4. If you can’t get a loan pay on the highest interest first.
If I was making 200K a year I’d be living like a king.
If you're financially unfit, then add another to the equation who is also financially unfit, prepare to dig the hole at least 2x the speed.
Yeah, good luck with that. Keep on doing what you're doing.
Well. The reason he may be in that shop is actually to avoid stress. He's doing something he loves doing. Which is fine if it made him money.
I also don't know whats going on with that marrige or why the wife didn't plan for those two bills. Something is wrong there...
“The credit cards are coming back” like they have legs and are charging themselves…smh…these two didn’t talk about finances before they got married even though they’d been together for 6 years. They probably spent that entire time talking about how awful their exes were. They finally got married and the wife thought she’d hit pay dirt with hubby #2. Financial ghosts came back to haunt her, he doesn’t want to make waves (heaven forbid a second divorce) and avoids the entire topic by spending the evening in the woodshop. She gets mad/nervous/worried (heaven forbid a second divorce)and spends the evening shopping on the internet. On the weekend they rally, kiss and make up and tell themselves it will all work out. After the craft show, they go out and celebrate with a fancy dinner (charged on the credit card) then wake up on Monday to an even bigger nightmare. You don’t have to live like that. TALK to each other.
Jade, great to see you, haven't seen you in a while! Dave and Jade, one of the best teams.
Not really….
No disrespect to Jade, but Dave doesn’t need a cohost. If anything the other Ramsey hosts need to watch Dave take calls to better understand how to handle each caller’s situation.
"You've got two stinking cars" 😂😂😂😂😂 l love the Ramsey show
Did I miss what they do for the 200k a year?
The trick to dealing with unexpected expenses making $200k is to plan to live on $60k, then pay any unexpected expenses with cash then put whatever's left of your ~$140k take home pay towards debt. If you are living on less than you earn then unexpected expenses can at worst only delay your debt payoff, there is absolutely no reason earning $200k a year that an unexpected expense should make you have to go further into debt.
journey of transformation with Adept-limited unrefined company , Every moment is life-changing , im fr blessed
The bottom line is, if you don’t have the cash to pay for what you want, you shouldn’t be wanting those things. DON’T LIVE BEYOND YOUR MEANS!
So glad that a husband called in.
Go, Dave!
It also doesn't even sound like they're enjoying the woodworking business based on his tone, phrasing, and general attitude about it. Why do something that takes all that time, loses you money, AND leaves you resentful?
They seem to have not figured out that bills have to be paid and you only get to spend each dollar once. I hope they can sort it out. With that income they should be living a good life and they're throwing it away.
If you are making 200k and your "side hustle" is loosing money and you have all that debt, how can they not figure out what to do?? It sounds to me like they just want all the debt to go away without having to change anything,
denial
At what point does he figure his failing business is going to take him into early retirement? Why can't they live on $200k a year? How do you earn this kind of money on your primary income and not instinctively know your 'business' is breaking you financially?
With his and wife's habits, early retirement for him is retiring at 95 instead of 100.
That employee at work who sucks at his job and says, "I COULD DO THIS BETTER!" and quits mid-shift... that's every small business owner. Can we finally admit as a country we've been propping these guys up when they're all mostly this guy? They can't do one job even decently, but they all decide they can suddenly do 11 jobs really well on their own.
He is definitely the type to start a lot of businesses but nothing ever really pans out

It sounds like this is all her. Probably why she was divorced from her first husband. This discussion is so confusing. Is he the only one making money? Why are the focus on the hobby? How old are these people? What do they have saved?
Why do people talk about credit cards balances like they're just something that happened to them rather than something they did? Lol

Adding up to insanity.
I don't understand how the woodworking business is losing money, considering that the labor is essentially free (it's him out there every night for several hours). All he has to do is buy materials, which aren't that much. How can you not make SOME money in a scenario like that? Something is not adding up here, and the 1st place I'd dig into is do they really make $200k? I suspect the answer is no.
