Don't stop pumping when grease comes out. Stop when NEW, clean grease comes out. The discoloration in the old grease is from worn, oxidized metal due to wear. Do a couple pumps, spin/turn the part repeatedly, then pump until clean stuff comes out. For open/exposed gears, there's special Grease for that (I use bicycle/motorcycle chain lube.) Also, on exposed lube points, I spray parts clean with solvent first.
The owners manual recommends pulling the rear wheels off the axle and greasing the axle and wheel hub assembly. It’s not a hot ticket item to maintain but if you ever need to pull a rear wheel and you haven’t kept up on greasing them removal is a PITA. They can become very stuck in the axel.
They aren’t bearings, they are bushings on the front end. You can grease the deck spindles as the bearings inside the hub are shielded not sealed. Too much grease forced through shielded bearings is not a good thing either. The manufacturers recommend grease in the spindles to repel water and dirt not really to lubricate the bearings.

Awesome. Thanks so much. Please any more videos about the 1000 series cub cadets would be great. How to service, how to fix, etc.
Thanks.
This is my neighbors mower. Glad you like my video.
Jim
There are grease fittings on the deck wheels. Easy to miss and hard to grease. 😊
Thanks for sharing
Greasing points on Cub Cadet LT2 NR92 are the same or is there any difference?

Thanks for all the good tips, thanks for watching
There are grease serts on the outside of the front wheels…..very hard to see (they are black). Great video thanks!
Thanks for the tip, I'll have to look next time!
Any grease or lubricants needed on rear wheels?
I don’t think so

@@scottp2462 thanks for the info
Other than wasting grease.. is there any harm done if you pump too much grease into the zerk?
Don’t think so, thanks for watching
good video but, never put grease on open gears use a dry lube IE graphite. using a grease with cause dirt/debris to collect causing premature wear
Don’t forget to grease the spindles under the deck!
I should have said that, but the mower in the video did not have Zirk fittings on the spindles.
Do you not grease the zerts for your blade bearings?
That mower did not have any. If your mower has some I would put a little grease in them.
@@DIYJIM I took my deck off to clean it and that’s when I saw it had one on each bearing so then I found and watched your video to see if I missed any
@@DIYJIM great video tho, I never noticed the two lower zerts until I watched this so thanks for the help!
@@WhateversClever777 glad I could help thanks for watching
@@DIYJIM mine is the 1050, so if yours is similar and has the air filter up front don’t forget to hit that with the ol compressor too
Thanks
Your welcome
Is this your primary mower? I remember you had a john deere also?
