- My Entry Video into this year's USACC Group Build. We are going to attempt to recreate Otto Rhode's 53 Custom Ford F-100 Show Truck Originally Built In 1962. Probably bitten off more than I can chew in the timescale but hopefully we'll make a nice model come January.

I know Otto Rhodes personally. Best welder and fabricator I’ve ever seen. I think he’d like to see the Mountain Pearl in miniature. Looking forward to seeing it complete. 👍
Thanks ever so much for commenting and hopefully I can do the truck justice in the time we have. Otto clearly was someone with a great eye for design and don't think there is a more beautiful truck out there. I'll do my very best with this one as my own little tribute 🙂 funnily enough I had someone message me on the last Plymouth build who new the owner of the car I was trying to recreate so it's an honour that these inspiring guys may actually see the finished product 🙂 thanks again and hopefully I'll set to work on it as soon as I can.

I know the article you're talking about as my dad showed me it when I was a young kid and made an impression ever since. I think it was my dad's favourite truck too. Hahaha, you know what Mike I knew what I said as soon as I said it but too far in to cut it so just soldiered on (with a Chandler Bing style clicking around my head as I did so).
Not sure why but just getting through the first 30 seconds of the video is the hardest part. As most of my content, you can guarantee I have between 30-50 clips of failed intro... I actually watched some of these and the slurs I come out with when I can see me losing my words is quite alarming. I think as soon as I sense me losing it my brain and mouth go into a subconscious state and the inner monologue just rolls out before I cut 😂 hence why if I'm too far in, I'll just skirt around it the best I can
This is going to be an awesome build. Will be watching. Ron

I can always rely on you Shawn, I knew it was daunting before I was 100% on making this the project but man it's a pretty truck, and it just had to be done 😊 after I realised it was the day for the entry vids I was kinda hoping someone else had already chosen it so I wouldn't have to pain it myself, hahaha 😂. Hope you're okay anyways brother. Looking forward to a chat in future anyways ❤️

Thanks Terry and will be good to do another group build alongside you! The chop will be the first update as I need to know I've got it right at an early stage, otherwise I'm buying another kit haha! I think the larger scale will probably make it a bit easier to work with than the Amt kit but I'll probably use the same cuts as last time. Thanks again buddy! 🙂

I had to buy my kit too and I had the same feelings... Not a kit I'd normally buy, that being said it should be fun!
I have absolutely no bloody idea what way I'm going yet.

And yeah scale size don't really matter to me..I think if you are a builder you can do really good work no matter the size.

Glad you're jumping and going custom and thats a beautiful truck to replicate in scale and will be far from a walk in the park! PS we have 4mos but still will go far to fast with the other projects! Looks good! But first truckbody you show. Is a AMT body, not Monograms. 😊
Hi there, thanks for watching and commenting on the video. I'm aware that the first truck was an Amt kit, I was just including this in the video as it was how I was going to originally build it and also an visual of the work to be done on the monogram kit... I think the point is, building the truck in 1/25 would have been much easier as the parts needed are available in other Amt kits... where as building this in 1/24 is going to be a lot more challenging as parts will all have to be hand created from scratch.
