I'm curious as to why it took 8 years to make. We have amateur people nowadays taking 1 to 5 years to make similar games when they are the only people working on it maybe with like one or two other people
@Alteori I would say it probably has something to do with the first designs not being diverse or inclusive enough and after 5 or so drafts that they finally get ones that are approved by sweet baby or whoever. That probably took a few years.
@@Alteori Hopefully there'll eventually be a deep dive into the issues, but that would require a lot of people essentially breaking their stories. We know that (Edit: As a point of comparison and reference for other form of media/entertainment that has similar issues of high production cost, long term duration creation and low viewership and return on investment) for some of the failing movies in Disney that the issues were reshoots and fix it in post mentality that caused them to balloon their expenditure beyond their budgets by hundreds of millions. For example, we eventually learned that the profit made by both Infinity War and Endgame was actually relatively low because they ended up actually breaking their budget by a massive amount. And every movie beyond those usually breaks the budget by 50 to 100 million above the reported budget. (Edit 2: And Wish was in development hell for an incredible amount of time due to the script being reworked constantly and we also know in hindsight that this script had been impeded upon by ideological issues as well, which ended up pumping out an incredibly mediocre and ill made script. I can't fathom why they just didn't make a movie like Fantasia and went with an artistic silent story. No, wait, I can fathom because I know too much of the back end working of Disney.) As for game development, there are games that have longer game development cycles but even less results than Concord. Usually though, a commonality that can be found regarding extended development is usually due to lack of vision or poor leadership and management. Considering most DEI implementation is usually within the management level and imposes itself upon the developers, writers and artists, it's very likely that the issues stemmed from those elements and bled down to slow and halt a lot of the development. Additionally, we already know that there are efforts to implement DEI standards into even just coding. There were notes showing that they wanted people to avoid regular programming speech because some of the key words utilized to communicate coding to each other were not inclusive, and these were within the guidelines for the usage of the Epic engine. Knowing how these ideologies would potentially bleed into the development process and potentially multiple training for these things, it could definitely halt and slow down the development to a grinding stop, alongside potentially reworking the idea of the game repeatedly causing the game to be made and remade until they just ended up with something that functioned enough for them to ship.
they're having plenty of characters who are bigger in entertainment media for example plus size elf anime the characters are way bigger did ordinary human beings but they're cute
@@Alteori They wouldn't have to feel such heartbreak if the government didn't interfere in their revolving door ESG stuff so hard that the market glitched and decided to shit out Concord costing $150M to make but only appealing to like 1K people at most. That's never a budget you can justify for a game that would be so obviously dead for all the reasons that it is, and under normal free market circumstances this game would have never been made. I'd rather have greedy corpos who actually have to make good products to survive than supposedly benevolent politicians putting taxpayer money into pushing for things in industries for the sole purpose of pushing an ideology even if there's zero demand for it. That is because Asian's are white-adjecent and so are Hindustani and Latino people. The only true people of color are obese, black, women. Black men are also becoming more and more white-adjecent. Devil May Cry 2 also sold a similar amount; it was also terrible. It sold those numbers because people were excited for more Devil May Cry. Popularity doesn't automatically mean "good".
@shlomkoi The problem was Atari made, IIRC, something in the region of 6 million copies, so was left with entire shipping containers of distressed inventory. I think with the additional unsold copies of 2600 Pac-Man they had a total distressed inventory of something like 14 million cartridges.

I don’t want to profile (but I will anyways): The developer who replied on Twitter is giving me gigantic “spoiled kid” vibes, as in, they went through most of their life without anyone really giving them any grief, therefore it created a bubble of the world for them where anything they do would be a massive success. Just because you have attractive characters that doesn't make them good I think he's real tiresome that people act like being attractive is the important thing in a video game but which is not always the case it's all about character development and good story and not to mention gameplay. I think gamers are praising the Eastern dev a little bit too much I got nothing but respect for them but that doesn't make them Superior. You know that if they cant even design attractive characters, they’re so inept the rest of the game sucks too. As their tastes are opposite normal people.
It's worst than that. Considering the one lady who liked nice in the game, they do know how to make attractive characters. The ugly characters were their choice!

Sometimes they do it to themselves, sometimes the consumers do it to them. At the end of the day, a failed product is ultimately one that fails to sell itself to the widest possible customer base. It will forever amaze me that these big companies are surprised when their incredibly limited view on things fails to attract the wide reach of viewers and consumers. Long story short, you can be as much of an ass as you want, just don’t be surprised when people treat you like the ass you are acting like. Thats all I got to say about that.

Huh anti white sentiment. How can games be DEI - are you asserting that the Meir presence or a non white character is an attack on whiteness, that’s like literally the definition of white fragility - you might as well say I want my games white again. Because that’s the only way I can be comfortable

They made it out to be the biggest game of the year and never explained why anyone should even care about it. I don't know how Sony's marketing team fucked up that hard.
The thing that I think a lot of developers miss when it comes to creating compelling characters, is that they need to be at least two of these three things: Inspiring, Relatable, and/or Entertaining. A character can never be good if it has only one or none of these traits. For example, having an overweight character can work as someone for some players to relate to, but the character can have other traits that those players can aspire to have themselves (confidence, empathy etc.), or they can just be really funny and enjoyable. Most lousy characters nowadays in movies and games usually resort to the "Inspire" aspect, typically to try and inspire a certain way of thinking that nobody wants to think. They are not relatable because they're written to have no flaws, and they're not Entertaining because anything they do that might be remotely fun could be offensive to someone.
These days, bad games scream and cry at customers for not buying trash rather than studying their mistakes. In my day, they went to the landfill with quiet dignity next to the ET cartridges and lessons were learned. * well, sometimes lessons were learned. Didn't stop the flood of trash games based on movies or trash movies based on games
This is political...that's polarizing. It baffles me that these companies actively alienate a huge portion of their prospective customers. Make me a good game that's fun, esthetically pleasing and non-predatory and I will buy it.
Its because these companies believe that they have enough status and prestige that people who played their previous games will buy it just because they made it.
Odd, isn't it? They receive millions of investments from Blackrock, in turn they have to make the game DEI inclusive and woke, but when time comes to sell the game, they try to hide that. But consumers have grown wiser in the past years.
I find it strange that Blackrock keeps wasting so much money pushing DEI like this when there have been examples of "inclusive" games that worked well like BSG3 and Hogwarts Legacy. Why don't they point at those and say do that. They get to push their agenda and make a profit. This feels like the classic tactic of corporations pushing things as far as they can so when they backtrack, they don't need to backtrack all the way. "Two steps forward, one step back" as the saying goes.
@@PaulaBeancustomers are growing a little bit meaner too because complaining about dei and ESG has getting really out of hand for example there is this individual that left one of the most stupidest comments about a video game the person said : "no normal person wants to play a black female character because black female characters don't sell well in video games and you developers are going to learn that the hard way" talk about being ignorant
@@clonezero_RR "I find it strange that Blackrock keeps wasting so much money pushing DEI like this when there have been examples of "inclusive" games that worked well like BSG3 and Hogwarts Legacy. Why don't they point at those and say do that." Because this has always been about constantly trying to push a threshold. The point isn't the games themselves, but to make DEI the centerpiece of everyone's reality. That's why Paulo Freire said what he did about "denouncing and announcing." You must always keep moving forward toward the revolutionary goal, so what was revolutionary yesterday, is conservative and calcified today. You _must_ always be in a continual state of revolution, until your whole society _becomes revolution itself_ . That was Paulo Freire's goal, that was Antonio Gramsci's goal (which he intended to accomplish through creating what he called a "culture of revolution," and no it's not an accident that that sounds a lot like Mao's "Cultural Revolution"), that was Mao's goal, that was the goal of every communist thought-leader since Herbert Marcuse of the 1960s. And yes, Baldur's Gate 3 and Hogwarts Legacy were both giga woke, as in anti-white, anti-straight, and anti-male. Those games, specifically the success of those games, are what convinced the industry that _now is the time_ for games like Concord. The failure of these games, all they will do, is convince the industry leaders that they moved too fast, that they turned the temperature up too high, too quick. So they'll dial it back and slowly get people to _love_ games like Concord and Dustborn.
At this point I'm glad they didn't. PS changed after being moved to Cali. It makes sense the company is tanking now that an American hand controls it. They're "focus on live service games", is just they're not so secret admission to forever milking gamers for money... The least they can do if they're gonna milk me is make the games worth our time. Console gaming is gonna die, and greed killed it. Who would've though monetizing shxt products in a recession would backfire?
I think they should have made a hero shooter based on Ratchet & Clank. Colorful cast of likeable established characters that are pleasant to look at, exotic weapons with a variety of behaviors, and it's kid-friendly to boot.
I must admit, the first huge red flag for me was the pronoums in the character screen. Then I saw the ugly characters, the mediocre gameplay and the US$40 for a F2P game clone. Maybe it didn`t deserved the hate, but it got it, and I didn`t see any tears come out from my eyes.
As an artist, it's disheartening to see how a team of professionals arrived at these designs. With Overwatch and TF2, you can instantly recognize the roles and elements of the characters-whether they're the healer, the heavy, the melee fighter, or have fire or ice abilities-even if you haven't played the games or know much about them. For a video game, these characters embody the game's identity and gameplay through their design. They are on the cover!! They are the first thing a player sees! But that's one main reason. The other is the classic line "a NEW 5v5 first person shooter"...instant no. you are competing with already successful FREE 5v5 games and charging them 40$??? you literally ask them to leave these games and come play yours. huh? Couldn't they have focused more on a PvE story-based gameplay and have the 5v5 as a game mode? You have endless possibilities but you choose to ignore them. This looks lazy BY CHOICE
As an artist, Concords character designs are so frustrating to deal with. I already get lumped as a "hater with no opinion of his own" when I point out the issues with these characters and where they fall flat in presentation but having to actually look at these over and over again is just saddening. 8 years is way too long for what the final product looks like.

7:12 'Woke' is not an overused term. It is an accurate term to describe the communist entryism that has infected the video games industry (and basically all of entertainment media but that's another story). Your reaction to what I just said was probably 'huh?' especially at the phrase 'communist entryism.' There's _a lot_ of reading and research behind what I just said; I'm talking tens of thousands of pages of academic writings, mainly books and scholarly journals, but if I'm going to sum up everything I've read, it's that communists from the 1950s and 60s realized they weren't going to get the working class to eat the rich because the rich were actually improving the lives of the working class, so they sought out what Herbert Marcuse referred to as 'ghetto peoples' (his words, not mine), which would be anyone who is non-white, non-straight, and non-male. You can read all about this in his work, _Essay on Liberation_ , and _One Dimensional Man_ . Fast forward a couple decades and feminist and black power activists realized that they could use Marxist Conflict Theory to frame their arguments as 'class-based struggle' to make them much more popular, and bam, Marcuse and his ilk suddenly have a proletariat again. 'Woke' is nothing more, and nothing less, than a word that denotes that 'new' intersectional communism that academic leftists devised. You can read about that in books like _Introduction to Critical Race Theory_ , _White Fragility_ , "Whiteness as Property" from _Race and Law_ (wherein professor Harris frames being white, both biologically and culturally, as a form of property that need to be abolished, per Marx's grammatically incorrectly characterized definition of communism; "the abolition of private property"), and like Marx did, calls for its abolition on the grounds that it _is_ property, and property per communism is something to be abolished. In case you're wondering, 'straightness' and 'maleness' are also 'private property' under the framework of their intersectional communism. Understand, people who are ideologically supportive of this intersectional communism, are total slaves to it. Everything they do must be in service to that ideology, hence the Concord devs' statements about white people and white privilege. Not that we needed him to say that, it's obvious once you see the pattern enough times and you understand their ideological roots. 19:00 It's a concerted communist effort to destroy any art that doesn't conform to communist ideology. That's why the Japanese Communist Party (JCP) was encouraging their members to report any 'problematic' manga to the UN, and why Ken Akamatsu (the mangaka for _Love Hina_ ) became a member of the legislative senate in Japan, to _fight_ that kind of pressure, to prevent outside pressure from forcing Japan to literally _legislate_ their own artistic expression away into Socialist Realism.
the word woke may seem like it is overused but it's actually used when appropriate. it seems overused because everything is woke these days 30:10 exactly
Disagree with that entirely that word is not always used for appropriate the way you think people used to describe something they hate all the time. I blame those anti-woke groups they never tell the truth about the word I love to spread propaganda and lies about it
Deadlock still going strong. We've also got plenty of other giga-woke games that have had massive success. Acolyte, Concord, Dustborn, and Borderlands are outliers. It's my hope though, that with all of that plus the success of games like Stellar Blade, The First Descendant, and Black Myth: Wukong, that we can start to claw our way back to some semblance of sanity.

DEI, virtue signalling, identity politics, Sweet Baby Inc infected game, I'm delighted this game has failed, will be even more delighted if Sony close down this studio. Gamers don't want these type of social agenda driven games, but want games made for gamers like studios did prior to the pandemic. The modern audience does not exist and publishers and studios need to accept this and start to make games that will sell, games that gamers want, they are a business and the job of a business is to make the most money it can by selling products and services that the consumer wants.
First of all modern audience do exist what are you even talking about you do realize what the word modern audience means don't you it means the people with different backgrounds and age groups so there's a huge hole in your argument why does everybody act like modern audience is bad it's not and they do exist.

Although regarding Dustborn, they had three different source of Government funding through grants. These grants are publicly available so it's not some government psyop before anyone decides to go conspiracy theorizing. It truly is just an unfortunate product of "true believers" who drank too much of the kool-aid and were left in a weird echo chamber that twisted their perception of reality and likely gave them a combination of victimized mentality and savior complex. Something which is often seen with some toxic people online who both want to have the strength and authority that comes with identifying as a marginalized group, while also exploiting the victimhood and make themselves martyr with that very same identity which in turn feeds the authority that they gain. I honestly think we’re facing another video game crash. Video games have become too expensive just like movies & they’re not making money, the industry is facing some really scary times.
Hey @Alteori, The return on movie ticket sales for the studio is 40 to 60 %, depending where you at. In China it's (of effing course) only around 25 %. So rule of thumb: a movie has to make twice the amount at the box office to break even. So, when D&W has a budget of 200 mill., you also need to put the marketing costs in consideration. Usualy it's around 100 mill. But D&W had a bigger marketing campaign than the usual movies. So I'd say 150 mill. That's 350 mill. all in all. So it need to generate 700 mill at the box office to break even. Now substract that from the 1,3 bill. it reeled in, and we have a profit of 600 mill., which is pretty good.
Opinion of someone who didn't play and wasn't interested in playing: I have been burned too many times with "creatives" pushing a political viewpoint HARD at the cost of the product that I've become hyper sensitive to it. Is there a spectrum to how obvious and forcefully you can insert your own beliefs into a creation? Yes, absolutely. But when I've been hit with 10/10 efforts over and over in some of my favorite pieces of media and culture, the 3/10 and even 1/10 is going to turn me away when it didn't bother me before. Some of my favorite franchises have had diverse characters, different sexual orientations, and what people would call liberal/left leaning messages, but it didn't bother me. Those were all instances of different characters living in a world I liked or was drawn to that I could choose to agree with or not, connect with or not, just like the way reality should be. All that to say, this game isn't as over the head as dustborn, but it's enough to make me instantly turn away and not even give it a try, ESPECIALLY for a monetary cost. Even if it was free I'd be hard pressed to try it even if it got good reviews. And yes, I am celebrating its closure, and yes, I do hope it doesn't come back in any form, free to play or otherwise. Not because I hate the people who made it, or hate sony, but because I'm looking forward to a day where I don't feel like I'm listening to a political podcast every time I start up a game.
I think the biggest issue is that the way these pieces of media are made echoes the old school Christian shows. Wherein they work very hard to shoehorn in a lesson and go in with the presumption that their point of view is correct. A lot of older media like Star Trek would give both sides of an argument a fair chance and explore them both. Star wars told a more universal tale of good vs evil that generally speaking wasn't particularly political. In games particularly we gamers for years got to experience a myriad of games that gave us agency. Allowing us to decide things for ourselves and often without any "right" answer. This made such games all the more enthralling as we'd yearn to see if a different choice may have worked out better or what might have happened. Nowadays games want to tell you something and only give you one choice. They have a lesson to teach you, and if they gave us choices plural, we may make the wrong one. Which they cannot abide.
@@Sarcastic_Sophist Agreed. Whether a person is highly religious or not, they have to agree that forcing someone to sit down and listen to a sermon isn't a good way to convert anyone to your message. Especially if for example you're grabbing people who came into an ice cream shop for ice cream and forced them to listen to some christian, muslim, buddhist, etc sermon the entire time, then proceed to give them a shit ice cream on top of it with flavors that taste nothing like they've had before.
@@Millicente Agree wholeheartedly. It's just in poor taste and the fact they leave no room for discussion, debate, or even abstaining makes it all so much worse.
Western game developers: Whatever, who needs you losers anyway. Eastern game developers: We're sorry you didn't like our game, we'll try harder next time.
I do think that the "Vocal Minority" when it comes to Concord are only the minority when it come to vocalizing their disgust to stuff tainted by ESG. That "Vocal Minority" is in this instance is part of the "Silent Majority." Most people nowadays are wary of what they say or post online, since companies are starting to care about their employee's digital footprint. Men being the majority of the gaming community are scared of losing their jobs because of something they posted on twitter/Facebook years ago.
Social media ruined everything. People should be able to post anything legal there, no matter how it might offend some snowflakes and not be scared about their jobs.
The contrast with games like _Black Myth Wukong_ and basically anything by Mihoyo is incredible. Some companies know how to sell stuff, and some don't care to sell, that seems pretty simple to understand. It's just sad when people put years of effort into something that doesn't have any lift in the end. The people saying the game would have survived as f2p are just coping. Open beta barely scratched 2k players on Steam, nobody gave a fuck about the game. I personally put an hour into the beta and just confirmed how i thought the game would be based on my years of playing destiny, since many of the people who -butchered- designed the PVP for Destiny 2 also worked on Concord. Slow ass movement, terrible balancing of weapon ranges and bizarre design choices such as the Sniper not being able to 1-hit kill players via headshot (you gotta finish them with a sidearm with the shortest range imaginable after shooting them with your long range rifle, yeah) or giving every character a -hunter- dodge that contributes to making them all feel rather same-y. It would have flopped even without all the 'woke'/DEI garbage, but some are also downplaying how much the terrible designs or having pronouns on the character selection screen (lol) made it so easy for the game to be clowned on. Making people see the game more as a meme than any sort of endearing piece of media worth investing your time on. But yeah, to our luck this isn't the last of Concord, since they got an episode for that videogame anthology series from Amazon in December... if they don't cancel it, it's going to be a bit hilarious to have an episode on a game you cannot play anymore.
For thsoe who don't know. You *CANNOT LOOSE* in Dustborn. Even if your character dies in the pitifully easy combat she respawns with full health in the same fight to continue where it was left off. The fight does not reset, the enemies do not respawn nor go back to full health they remain as they were. Same with the Rhytm game sections even if you do not press any buttons the game continues on the same way as if nothing happened. There are no stakes, there is no challenge to it.

Like there are games, old games, that have fewer players than Concord did, and they are universally loved by the people who have experienced them. Why? Because that is the point of entertainment; a way to pass time in the days of our otherwise uneventful existence that leaves us happy and content. This disaster just goes to show that terminally online people do not actually care for what they say or preach for, they are all in it for the shits and giggles and self-gratification of their own narcissism. No matter how much marketing it has, no matter what others say, if the entertainment is not enjoyable, it will not succeed as one.
The actors for House Valaryon are good actors. I think another reason people changed their tune is that they didn't turn the house into a mouthpiece for 2024 race politics.
ITS ESG scoring the team is full of unqualified people based on there gender and race so that's why the games suck the best people are not on the job woke is just what the activist wont, its the S in ESG. they just copy and past what was once cool n ruin it. this game is overwatch with the with gradians of the galaxy.
6:30 THANK YOU, i thought i was the only one that hates it when people misuse the word "Woke" it's a term that meant stay aware of what's really going on and being aware of your surroundings. When i see stuff like race/gender/sexuality swapping or pushing diversity at the sake of diversity instead of being aithentic and making it feel natural. I consider it pandering or being inauthentic, even when your claiming your IP is diverse i consider that pandering. Diversity has been around way before the 70s. Maybe it's just me but growing up in 2000s i never heard of diversity, now people are using it to act and or be progressive when they could act natural about it and not make it a big deal.
Diversity in and of itself is not an issue. Overwatch’s roster was also diverse, but much more appealing and distinct than what we were given in Concord.
And overwatch itself is woke if you hear the accusations based on the Blizzard staff and the diversity generator to create characters. The thing is overwatch had the luxury of coming out before the uglification and hyperrealism in video games
@@JoakimOtamaa I never played overwatch so I don't know about the latter but the former with Tracer, yeah. I've heard about that one. Guess that was more important than doing what they promised.

Guess we just have to keep going to the east for our entertainment. I don't think they understand that people don't want to just hate things. Yes it's cathartic to make fun of it when they're bad. However people legitimately want things to enjoy. It's like a form of escapism and I don't think people appreciate getting that tampered with.
They loudly scream about wanting pandering 'woke' ideology and DEI in the games....or else! ....and then don't play them. It's crazy how publishers just ignore the mountains of data that clearly shows that the 'DEI woke' crowd (uno the type) _don't play video games_ in general, and definitely not in numbers big enough to recover a fraction of the maaaassive budget. The game looks slow and very generic. People usually find a fps hero shooter they like and stick with it.....its gotta be really special to steal players away from all the other clones (Helldivers 2 is a good example of a great game that won players away from all the mmo fps clones by just doing it right and listening to actual real players)
Almost like they had different goals hmm. A multi billion dollar company that has been successful for decades decides to publish a game everyone and their dog has known would flop. So what was their intention? I say it was to increase their ESG scoring. If you look at the way bigger picture

This game doesn't deserve hate. Hatred actually requires energy and effort on part of the hater and is its own form of engagement. This game deserves something worse, complete indifference and apathy.
This game was always destined for this outcome, the debut I saw for this game was a dev saying " We're going to make weekly cut scenes showing you what the characters do in their down time." Every response was "Who cares?" Or "Why?" , that told me their team didn't have a single gamer on it because we all thought the same. Think people want videos of Kratos in his off time??
I don't know I'd personally be down to see what Dad-Kratos does on Sundays But really - I think even that would still be more successful since Kratos was part of a pretty well-loved IP and had a large fanbase behind him. Where as Concord's characters just... existed. And we were supposed to care. For reasons.
I'd say it depends on the content and quality. I'm sure there are ways you could make characters chilling out in their free time fun. That said, it'd probably be better to release them as independent shorts (kind of like the Overwatch trailers) or as unique seasonal events that play into the story itself (as with a lot of gacha games that have holiday events) than as actual cutscenes in the game if that's what they were planning. I wouldn't mind a short series on the daily lives of the SPARTAN-IIs during their training days or something on TH-cam, but when I'm in the middle of fighting my way through the Flood on High Charity that's probably not what I'm interested in at the moment.
I want gaming to be how it was in the 90's-00's. Gaming then had such a vast range of creativity. I love the amount of risk they took on odd concepts in This Y2K era- the Dreamcast/PS2/360. It should show us that GRAPHICS are not the most important thing.. If you can create satisfying movement, gameplay mechanics, physics effects, responsive parts of a environment that makes you want to explore it, engage it, etc. That stuff is so much more important. Not: {"Who can make the largest game map? Or have the most reflections?"} I think Art style, design, vibe, aesthetic is much more important. You don't need top notch graphics to greatly appreciate and enjoy playing a game. That's why we are seeing such a resurgence of players who have gone back to playing older games because they realized the aspects of gaming that they care about and are unhappy with most modern games. So hopefully gaming will enter a new era. That mixes in aspects of the older era's. With our modern capabilities that will hopefully help make it easier to create a satisfying game (without it taking 8 years to build a broken game. Hopefully) Currently everything is trying to be like a Triple AAA game or a free to play online battle Royale game.. A lot of us miss when we had game selection similar to how the Dreamcast/GameCube/360/PS2 era had a mix of. As well alot of those games came with options for local multiplayer, split screen, LAN parties, or offline modes against bots or other diverse offline CPU game modes. Yet modern games are not only lacking those dynamic options that give games nearly endless replayability features... Modern games are lacking even meeting the most basic standards for game's... They don't seemed focused on the core of the games to be Fun. They over focus on "realism" Rather than adding in Artistic adaptations for the greater good of gaming as a whole.. We could be doing so much better yet people are just coming out with the most bland game design, braindead AI, less care for physics effects... We could be doing so much better than this..
Once again, character design is important. When it comes to this shooters, the thing that makes them stand out are the characters and mechanics, and in the case of Concord the characters are somehow over design and still look bland, and their mechanics are mediocre and bland. This game was doomed from this start, when your designers and producers though that being "diverse" was more important than being appealing
The term "woke" was coined by some women in a marketing group based on that moment just after waking before you're fully awake that you are still vulnerable, and can be mislead by someone or overlapping dream state. It was a term put forth for explicitly seeking those whom are "seeking knowledge" and to present yourself as an encouraging "guru," then guide them astray to double-cross them, veil them, then exploit that lost and blind seeking in perpetuity. Therefore; "woke" is "subversive manipulate" irregardless of aesthetic or domain. _Dustborn_ may appear more "woke" because the gameplay is explicitly to engage in such "subversive manipulation;" however, beyond that it is primarily the aesthetic. It's "true believers," seemingly and most likely, being too honest, besides the taking of government grants, etc. _Concord_ on the other hand is the combination of many domains of corporate manipulation: "as a Service," "out-of-date trendchasing," "language abuse," "political pandering," "bland aesthetic + 'AI' timing," "hate marketing," "multiple domains of bureaucratic incompetence," and so on. There was something for everyone to be turned off, because they attempted to maximize their subversive scope. Both are "mistakes" that allow "noticing" of which are worse the more "noticing" there is, as when their is less, others will make excuses of post-historical impossibility.
What all due respect your description of woke couldn't be any more wrong. You have just proven that people really don't understand the word at all and I think it's about time somebody tells the truth about it for real. Woke has nothing to do with manipulating people and it certainly has nothing to do with market I looked up the word and it's description doesn't even match what you're saying

Well, the game crashed and burned...
I didn't shed any tears for Acolyte being canceled, I wont shed any tears for when this game gets shut down.
Only tears I shed were of joy
No, wait, I can fathom because I know too much of the back end working of Disney.)
As for game development, there are games that have longer game development cycles but even less results than Concord.
Tears of laughter perhaps?

I agree

@@clonezero_RR "I find it strange that Blackrock keeps wasting so much money pushing DEI like this when there have been examples of "inclusive" games that worked well like BSG3 and Hogwarts Legacy. Why don't they point at those and say do that."
Because this has always been about constantly trying to push a threshold.

Hey @Alteori,
The return on movie ticket sales for the studio is 40 to 60 %, depending where you at.
Opinion of someone who didn't play and wasn't interested in playing:
I have been burned too many times with "creatives" pushing a political viewpoint HARD at the cost of the product that I've become hyper sensitive to it.

And they won’t learn a damn thing, I wouldn’t be surprised a similar flop happens next year.
Not even next year, probably next month
Guess we just have to keep going to the east for our entertainment. I don't think they understand that people don't want to just hate things. Yes it's cathartic to make fun of it when they're bad. However people legitimately want things to enjoy. It's like a form of escapism and I don't think people appreciate getting that tampered with.
@@tirefishWith AC:Shadows, yes.
@@hassathunter2464 OH yeah, I forgot about AC Shadows
Alteori indie games are where it’s at I’m not even joking you’ll enjoy them
They loudly scream about wanting pandering 'woke' ideology and DEI in the games....or else! ....and then don't play them.
@@saschaberger3212 yup. They also probably accessed tax credits and govt funding too. They'll just re-skin it coz the important part is game engine and core of the game. Then again...some of the corporate types that make these decisions are hopelessly out of touch with actual normal people. Their social life is other millionaires trying to out-virtue signal each other and corporate yes men and human resources loons.
30:20 I was literally playing on my Game Boy Color Light when you mentioned Game Boy. I had to do a double take on the video.
4:26 a game promoting cyber bulling should be reported to anti bulling campains. Like you are promoting what society exclusively try to end.
Why is it so hard to make a female character of black skin that is not toxic?
Is Just video game they can't make people do horrible things. Besides I've seen plenty of video games where you have the character do horrible things like murder is there an innocent bystanders GTA for example
@@animezilla4486 yeah but its the players choice, the characters arent made for this. In dustborn the characters want to cyberbully others for their "truth'
Really good video, Miss Alteori!
35:50 I'm sorry... you DON'T like chicken?!? I'm a religious conservative(who LOVES your vids btw) and THIS is the MOST outrageous thing I've ever heard you say! 😂🤣
As usual, great video. I hope you and yours are doing well 😌 Thank you for making these fun and lighthearted... it really is refreshing 😊👍
😂😂😂😂😂 I mean I'll eat it but ... It's not my kinda meat. I like pork, fish, goat, beef in that order. lol. My husband is trying to convert me.
@Alteori Oh my goodness! I try SO HARD to convince people to try goat! I completely absolve you of your no-chicken-ways! 🤣 I like both you and your husband's taste. I'm just the lucky guy who has no allergies to food(as far as I'm aware) and I'm VERY easy to please with a home cooked meal ☺️
@@Alteoricome on chicken is good 😂😂
This game doesn't deserve hate.
Depends if Kratos is smashing heads or ... other stuff.
On the other hand i bet there are many videos already out there somewhere.
I don't know I'd personally be down to see what Dad-Kratos does on Sundays
But really - I think even that would still be more successful since Kratos was part of a pretty well-loved IP and had a large fanbase behind him.
Well we have GoW comics to expand the universe. Close enough?
the social engineers out there dont like or understand free market capitalism.
Go woke go broke~
Wym?? People don’t like bland fat black gay characters??? Since when??
There's nothing wrong having diverse characters just need to put in the effort
