Yeah. using "Your kind" to describe a group of people. You know, describtion commonly used by racists or homophobic people. Talk about being what You hate
In the game you can "Cancel" someone. And they describe it as isolating someone from their friends. It just shows the nice and tolerant side are just bully's. To anyone who doesn't think like them.

@@tgiacin435 Unfortunately it's not a parody. These garbage developers really think that they hold true morality. I honestly believe these people are nuts and were able to convince idiots to give them money to make this game.
Maybe the modern audiences were the friends we isolated from their group to gain an advantage in combat all along. My favorite show growing up was Smallville, a show exploring the teenage years of Clark Kent growing into Superman. For the first few seasons, one of the main characters was Pete, Clark's best friend and the first friend he told his secret to. He also happened to be black, but it was never the point of his character. That's how you do diversity. You just have a character exist as themselves without making the point of their character be whatever checkbox they tick. Just make well written characters, good guys or bad. Don't be afraid to paint them as villains or heroes.
What amazes me most about Dustbin is that even after thousands, tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands of people have heard of/know about the game... the game's peak player count of all time is still 76. How absolutely terrible must something be to have that much attention given to it, yet nobody's willing to buy it.
It's really weird to me, to be honest. With this much attention, you would have attracted a neutral, curious crowd, and also the crowd that really supports the ideas behind the game. I thought that the many likes they get would be a fair indication of their sales on release. So it's strange that nobody bought it, when at least the supportive crowd should give it a try.
This massive rejection by the gaming community to this "video game" and all it's disgusting and racist messaging disguised as being inclusive gives me so much hope.

JK Rowling literally just said biological sex matters. Before that she was a progressive/feminist icon, but because she doesn't toe the line on that one issue they act like she is Voldemort now. The others who may say it say it in support of a social narrative they think is true and or play the "lets all get along game". I am a black man born in raised in Brooklyn NY, I don't care if no game ever had black people or any from Urban cities, just give me a freaking good game and be quiet. Additionally, these same folks are very hypocritical and offensive themselves by their train of thought. Anytime they create a black character, they're urban or Ghetto-like as if all of us blacks are that OR they are so out of touch with everyday folks they think this weird minority who says "I just want to see myself" can only relate to a stereotypical version of someone like themselves. I relate to Spike Spiegal from Cowboy bebop more than any Black character and Spike is a Jewish Space Bounty Hunter that knows martial arts. I relate to Shoto Todoroki from My Hero Academia more than any Black character and he's a Japanese kid with fire and ice powers. This is how they really think. This is them feeling safe and secure and powerful enough to show their true face. You quite literally bully, intimidate, gaslight and manipulate NPCs in the game to achieve your ends. And to the creators, that's a good thing. There are no bad tactics, only bad targets. Anything and everything is permissable to fight the enemy, and the enemy is whoever doesn't agree with you. Because to the creators, anyone who doesn't agree with them is morally bankrupt, has no value, and can only do harm. Thus, it is their moral imperative to smash the system, no matter how many people are hurt. They really think they're on the vanguard of a new revolution and that they're in the right.
"There are no bad tactics, only bad targets. Anything and everything is permissable to fight the enemy, and the enemy is whoever doesn't agree with you. " yep that is exactly it, and the irony is they like to label people who disagree with them as n*zis even though this mentality of theirs is the exact mentality that actual real world n*zis used to get into and stay in power.
I completly agree with you. The funny thing is, these are some of the defining traits of fascim, as in the political systems that were established in Italy, Germany and Spain.
When you said "no bad tactics, only bad targets", that made me think "Oh so we can just fire nuclear missiles at whoever we want for hurting our feelings now?" and that is scary.
It's so weird. We've had *decades* of media now where Diversity has been done right (Star Trek sans Discovery is one whole franchise as an example). But no. Now we have shit like Rings of Power for no goddamn reason. Or this game.

I thought this game was supposed to be a parody. Like we weren't supposed to be taking it seriously. But then I learned the US government funded 250k to it. This is putting a hole in my soul.
Except that is wasn't 250k$ and it was not funded by the US government. It was 150k Euros from the "Creative Europe"-grant which set out to "support projects to foster cultural diversity, promote artistic expression, and boost the economic potential of the creative industries". So basically they got that grant, because their game was pushing diversity. But the grant also does not check for quality or how the diversity is portraited. Atleast not when is comes to games. That might change after this game though
@Selnathorn So unfortunately, yes, the US Government did indeed fund it. But most likely not for the reason one would think. Whenever the government funded garbage like this, it's usually used as an example of what negative propaganda is. ETA: EU tax dollars funded it first, so if anything point the blame to them. They know better than that.
"No one forced us to make a game with a diverse cast," said the devs who took a fuckton of money from those telling them that they'd better say no one forced them to make a game with a diverse cast and very distinct narrative with a very distinct agenda.
Fun fact: In-game, they say that the politically correct version of "deviants" is "anomals". However, "anomal" comes from the Greek word ανώμαλος (anomalos), which when used to refer to the ground means "not level", but when used to refer to people means "pervert" or "fetishist". In other words, "anomals" prefer being called perverts over being called deviants. Shows how inclusive and thoughtful the devs are of foreigners, considering they didn't even bother researching this simple thing.
Anomal sounds super funky to Greek ears. It literally means pervert, but in a rather aggressive manner. I sure wouldn't go near anyone who brands themselves as an "anomal".
@@mariosskordos9177 Ye, exactly. If someone called you "anomal", it would hit rather hard, even if it's technically not a swear word. You aren't being called just a weirdo or a freak, you are being told people should actively stay away from you pretty much, lmao.
Or how little they understand basic English to be honest: "deviant" sounds more soficticated and less insulting than "anomal", not even considering the origins of the word. And that it is the root word for "anomaly", you know, like "aberration" "abnormal"

So... if seeing yourself is important and you're happy that you're being represented by an asshole, what does that say about you? Beyond that, I've never felt like I was represented in any game, and you know what? Neither is anyone else because the characters in games aren't designed to represent us. They're mostly meant to be epic heroes. The great thing about games is that we can do things and go places we can't in real life.
Exactly. If anything, characters only represent the human experience broadly. You’re supposed to relate to a character based off of his or her humanity; the idea is that you would have empathy and be able to relate to another human because of this. Beyond that, characters are really just themes personified. The notion that a fictional character needs to represent a vast demographic of people based off of superficial immutable characteristics is so absurd, and even narcissistic.
This game is an anti-government, anti-discrimination, and anti-establishment statement. While simultaneously relying on a government handout to exist, has more unironic racism than a Wolfenstein game, and is basically parroting the same virtues the far-left establishment has extolling. "There are gamers that are unhappy that characters don't look like they used to 10-20 years ago." Even if that's true for an impossibly small minority where they may legitimately just be racist and don't like anything non-white, is he implying that there are people who ONLY want characters that look like them and that's wrong? Isn't that an often quoted reason why they do what they do? Can't enjoy a game if someone not only looks just like you, but talks like you, dresses like you, and has the same sexual preferences as you right?
that is just them gaslighting people into thinking that it was a thing. Many games has sold million wordwide because at the end of the day those character are just character in a fictional world.

JFK? So they know nothing about him save for he was President and died? Or this game really is Parody. Or at lest one person made it that way, and the rest of the team wasn't in on the joke.
I also feel like when people make the excuse of “I’ve never seen it before in the past” this representation or diversity it’s because, in the past, no one was as focused on or concerned with diversity as we are today. Back then, diversity existed, I would say just as much as today, but it wasn’t emphasized or highlighted as much because it wasn’t the primary focus or something that was pushed to the forefront like it is now. @@animezilla4486 There's a major difference between making a work based on certain political ideas or about questioning political or philosophical ideas, and a work that's exclusively meant to be a propaganda mouth piece for a political ideology.
There's also a big difference between games where you play as a villain and the game makes it clear to you that you are a villain and when the game tries to present it as if you're the good guy, but you're very obviously playing as a villain.
Don't think you're being entirely honest here.

@@TrueBlueMajikDewd Along with the EU added to it too, I've heard
It was actually Norway and the EU who funded this piece of crap.

"No one forced us to make a game with a diverse cast," said the devs who took a fuckton of money from those telling them that they'd better say no one forced them to make a game with a diverse cast and very distinct narrative with a very distinct agenda.
Fun fact:
In-game, they say that the politically correct version of "deviants" is "anomals".
Sounds about right.
This was an amazing commentary on the world as it is. I appreciate voices like yours.

You know you wrote a bad story if people sympathize more with the "bad guys" and want the protagonists to actually fail. The guy saying that entertainment should be politics free is already way more relatable than the main characters
Well, that depends on what politics we're talking about and what people consider that they are.
Politics are a fools game. Say something fundamental about human nature, or say nothing at all.
"You know you wrote a bad story if people sympathize more with the "bad guys" and want the protagonists to actually fail"
I tend to disagree on that, "Falling Down" with Michael Douglas has the same 'controversy', but regardless if you consider Dfens the protagonist or the antagonist, it's still a great story
I think it's more a case that the artists misjudge their audience or that the plot is 'lost in translation'
IMO, Falling down is the latter, but Dustborn is the former dialed to 11, devs that genuinely believed that everyone/the majority would be on their side and support the story
That by making this 'story', these devs are shown to be about as ideological as certain groups noted in 20th century history is a fact they made blatantly obvious

So... if seeing yourself is important and you're happy that you're being represented by an asshole, what does that say about you?
If this game didn't take itself so seriously it would have been a decent meta-commentary on the hypocrisy of the modern social activist.

Even if that's true for an impossibly small minority where they may legitimately just be racist and don't like anything non-white, is he implying that there are people who ONLY want characters that look like them and that's wrong? Isn't that an often quoted reason why they do what they do? Can't enjoy a game if someone not only looks just like you, but talks like you, dresses like you, and has the same sexual preferences as you right?
that is just them gaslighting people into thinking that it was a thing. Many games has sold million wordwide because at the end of the day those character are just character in a fictional world.

So people don’t remember games or certain media back then for their diversity but their stories and quality.
