Big Hit doesn't actually do much for the other companies that they own right now. They only write some songs for GFriend. They don't mess with 17, or any other Pledis groups, nor do they give any input for Zico and Kozi (not to mention he is in the military). Chances are, if that's the way they are now, that's the way it will continue to be.

I agree with the less "im so cool" songs and especially Itzy. Like remember when Ryujin talked about the way people would say "you did good for a girl group" as if boy groups are the standards that idols have to work their way up to. I never like that mentality. It would be much more genuine if they implemented those comments that they receive in their lyrics. This along with Lia who received alot of unnecessary hate and Chaeryeong as well for her appearance. I cant believe their confidence music when they still harbor such insecurities deep inside. And I´ve always thought about that where there is a big contrast between the im so cool and confident lyrics and how idols genuinely feel in real life. But then I realize self love is just another concept for companies to capitalize on and it just makes idols more as idols rather than actual artists who can share their like what you said how they overcome their struggles. This is a huge problem with these gg debuts sadly even though female idols go through so much and have experienced a lot of sexism. agree so much! also another point why this whole "self love/i'm so different/i just wanna be me" concept feels so fake for me is because it's literally the opposite of some of their pre-debut days. cause chaeryeong once told on a vlive that ryujin & her were put on a strict diet in order to debut and they often were so hungry that they secretly ate in a bathroom of the company until they got caught once. or that she didn't eat anything the whole day and just drank bubble tea at night in their dorm. i don't think a lot of people know this and maybe that's why no one talks about it but it seems pretty hypocritical to me (not blaming the girls of course, i'm looking at the company...)

And thats what makes me angry because how you can you allow a group to have such concept when you dont even allow them to eat however they want to, giving them freedom and autonomy and creative input into their music etc. It just makes you as a company look like a fool. So many companies make the same mistake and they´re not creative with their groups which is why kpop has become so saturated. Lots of debuts but what would make them stand out. Your “less im so cool songs” is exactly why I haven’t been able to stan ITZY. Their concept turned me off so much. Why can’t we talk about how people have tried to shit on them for not being good enough (like Lia’s troubles, even though she is an amazing dancer and performer), for example? Their songs come off so insincere when their concept is pretty, glamorous girls wearing outfits worth thousands of dollars telling us that they love themselves, they’re so amazing, they’re bold, and there’s nobody they want to be but themselves. When we *know* the girls work hard and go through many struggles behind the scenes that could be incorporated into their songs.
ITZY is one of my two ult groups, and I agree to some extent. I wish they would talk more about their struggles in their music instead of blatant self-confidence. However, I was really impressed with Not Shy because of the theme of self-confidence in romance. I think that everyone, no matter their looks or money, can feel insecure about making the first move. This song is perfect to get you pumped up and less worried about the consequences of getting rejected.

Of course I’m not upset when artists have artistic license or make music about experiences that aren’t real, but my problem was that JYP was so clearly trying to capitalize off this “love yourself” movement, but it seemed inauthentic because of the nature of kpop.

Gdragon is a the leader of a famous 2nd generation group Bigbang under YG. He is really famous and among the top 10 most rich kpop idols 2021. He is the role model of many idols like jungkook of bts. I agree with the less "im so cool" songs and especially Itzy. Like remember when Ryujin talked about the way people would say "you did good for a girl group" as if boy groups are the standards that idols have to work their way up to. I never like that mentality. It would be much more genuine if they implemented those comments that they receive in their lyrics. This along with Lia who received alot of unnecessary hate and Chaeryeong as well for her appearance. I cant believe their confidence music when they still harbor such insecurities deep inside. And I´ve always thought about that where there is a big contrast between the im so cool and confident lyrics and how idols genuinely feel in real life. But then I realize self love is just another concept for companies to capitalize on and it just makes idols more as idols rather than actual artists who can share their like what you said how they overcome their struggles. This is a huge problem with these gg debuts sadly even though female idols go through so much and have experienced a lot of sexism. I have yet to see a gg debut that I will like and genuinely can connect with as a woman myself.

And thats what makes me angry because how you can you allow a group to have such concept when you dont even allow them to eat however they want to, giving them freedom and autonomy and creative input into their music etc. It just makes you as a company look like a fool. So many companies make the same mistake and they´re not creative with their groups which is why kpop has become so saturated. Lots of debuts but what would make them stand out. Your “less im so cool songs” is exactly why I haven’t been able to stan ITZY. Their concept turned me off so much. Why can’t we talk about how people have tried to shit on them for not being good enough (like Lia’s troubles, even though she is an amazing dancer and performer), for example? Their songs come off so insincere when their concept is pretty, glamorous girls wearing outfits worth thousands of dollars telling us that they love themselves, they’re so amazing, they’re bold, and there’s nobody they want to be but themselves. When we *know* the girls work hard and go through many struggles behind the scenes that could be incorporated into their songs.
ITZY is one of my two ult groups, and I agree to some extent. I wish they would talk more about their struggles in their music instead of blatant self-confidence. However, I was really impressed with Not Shy because of the theme of self-confidence in romance. I think that everyone, no matter their looks or money, can feel insecure about making the first move. This song is perfect to get you pumped up and less worried about the consequences of getting rejected.
