    Hi Shel, I have been catching up on your gelli plating series. Such fun! Your prints are beautiful, creative, and inspiring. I have not had much luck with my gelli plates in the past so they intimidate me. But watching you play and create inspires me to play and learn. Practice will only help. I hope you show us your finished journal. TFS!

    Loved them all but my favorite at half way point was the sewing thread. I was surprised how thick that thin thread showed up. I love gel printing and am about to make a new plate, probably do a 11 x 15 size or something like that. Whatever my lasagna pan size is. My old one I made lasted several years and I've re melted several times and it is just time for a fresh plate. I want to go back and start this from the beginning and do the whole month along with you. THanks for doing your videos in the voice over as it's sped up. THat is very helpful for busy people but still get to see exactly what you are doing.

    Shel,
    Love the flowers a bunch,❣
    #crustybits ❣😉😉😉
    The strings were really cool I've got to say that I think my favorite was the way the eyelashe yarn came out.
    On a different note I don't know how you do it, my brain is befuddled just trying to work out what would be in front of what. LoL LoL LoL LoL LoL LoL
    Now you've got a new #snarkybunny❣🤣🤣🤣🤣
    It's a shame about the LOVE print not coming up the way you described it would have been pretty cool. ❤❤❤❤
    All the others were really cool too❣

    I recently got a gelli plate and I've been trying to learn different techniques to use it. I have a lot of stencils that are smaller so it was neat to see how you used the smaller ones to create a larger pattern. I'd also been wondering if you could use matte medium like white acrylic paint to lift a print and it's cool that you can. So I know that. I kind of go crazy when I sit down to make gelli prints and keep playing around and trying new things and the next thing I know I have like 20 pages filled up and I'm still not sure what to do with them all.

    • @ShelCPaperOcotilloStudio
      @ShelCPaperOcotilloStudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am so glad you are enjoying your plate! I get carried away also :) I use my prints for collage work. Sometimes a whole page as a background in a art journal or often I tear them up. I have lots and lots of videos on this channel with all the printing techniques and how I use the prints in my artwork. Enjoy!

    Love the videos! When you are pulling prints using paper (not the deli), it looks like there is a shine to the paper. Is it just a reflection or can you share what kind of paper you are using for the pulls? Thank you for sharing.

    • @ShelCPaperOcotilloStudio
      @ShelCPaperOcotilloStudio  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Cindy :) Yes, I have been using an old stack of Stampin' Up! glossy white cardstock. I am printing on both sides of those pieces as I plan to make a journal from them as I have done before. My old gel print journal is all used up! I have 'heard' not to use that sort of coated paper on the plate as it will 'stick' but I have not had a problem with it. I didn't choose to use it because it is glossy on one side..but just because I have a TON of it sitting around LOL

  • @minnahumble2294
    @minnahumble2294 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Love your techniques. So much talent!! And thanks SO MUCH for including a very thorough list of supplies and paints. I have noticed that you sometimes use glossy magazine-style paper on the gel plate. I think I heard somewhere it is not recommended to use coated papers. It does something to the gel plate. Has that ever happened for you?

    • @ShelCPaperOcotilloStudio
      @ShelCPaperOcotilloStudio  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Minna 😊 I have had no trouble with the magazine pages on the plate. I use plenty of acrylic paint layer so that does separate the paper from the plate. I have used all sorts of stuff on my plate for 3 years and it is still fine with just a bit of yellowing.

    • @ShelCPaperOcotilloStudio
      @ShelCPaperOcotilloStudio  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have sometimes used glossy cardstock to pull prints. I had a big stack of that paper left over from my stamping days. These days I am way into collage and incorporating collage into mixed media..so I use thinner papers. I have TONS of videos on my channel about all sorts of gel printing techniques with all sorts of mediums! Thanks for watching :)

    Love home made stencisl. How did you make yours again? You mentioned "plastic used for dividers" cut with "what knife"? any tips would be appreciated. thank you

    • @ShelCPaperOcotilloStudio
      @ShelCPaperOcotilloStudio  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi :) I used those plastic tabbed dividers you can get at the dollar store. I used a hot knife...also known as a wood burning tool. I taped my drawing to a piece of glass then taped the plastic sheet over it. Then I plugged in the knife and used the smallest tip to draw over the lines..cutting out the stencil. Thanks for watching :)
