      I Like the Quality of the 24mm.
      Can you make a Unfair review of the same Fokal lenght against a old manual lens?

    Thanks for the review. I own both lenses, the 28mm was the first lens I bought (several years ago) and I've only had the 24mm a couple of months. I bought the 24mm as a travel lens for a bushwalking holiday and it's great. I hope Sony also brings out 35mm f1.4 GM, based on the great work they have done with the 24mm f1.4 GM.

    Cool video. I own both these lens. I initially wanted to get the Sony 20mm 1 8 since I had the 28mm 2 first. For what ever reason I ended up with the 24mm instead of the 20mm. The 24mm lens is what stays on my camera now unless I'm using my 14mm or 85mm for specific shots.

    One huge advantage of the 24mm GM is it’s use for astrophotographers.. the pinpoint sharpness, even at 1.4 with low, almost nonexistent coma in the corners is amazing.

    With current Sony lineup, a lot of users face 24GM + A7RIV in apsC crop mode = or better than 35f1.8 +A7III? That will be a difference of carrying two cameras or one in some scenarios. To be honest, by looking at 24GM optical quality, I probably bet on it @F1.4 beating 35FE @f1.8 on corner to corner sharpness, out of focus transition, colour rendition, bokeh, and CA. A real two lenses in one with a high resolution body, kudos to Sony.

    Great review as always! I own both lenses and the difference is obvious. I just checked your playlist but it seems that you have not reviewed the new Tamron 17-28 f2.8 lens. I am interested in a review of that lens comparing its all round usefulness to the Sony 24 f1.4. What I mean is, as I now own the 24 f1.4 ( amazing!) can I "justify" also picking up the Tamron lens for landscape, etc? I have just received the 24 f1.4 ( was away for a while) and have not had a chance to really use it. I had intended to buy the Tamron instead but it was out of stock, at the time, so I jumped on the very hard to get 24 f1.2. The Tamron lens is now available to buy, at the moment. I am looking for a wide angle to do landscape, cityscape ,etc. I had the Tamron 28-75 on my Sony a7iii on my trip and was happy with my photos but was a bit frustrated at the wide end of photographing. I enjoyed using the close focusing on it, as well. I guess I am ultimately wondering if 24 mm will be enough or will going to 17mm be a creative game changer- I will definitely be keeping the GM lens, though! Thanks for all your well balanced and thorough reviews and opinions. I have put the full notification for your channel back on!

    In Australia, 28mm is selling for $300 used market, 24mm is selling for well over $1600 used so its 5 times more expensive. Unless you are a professional earning money from photography, there is no reason to go for the 24mm over 28mm.

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      24mm is the best wide-angle prime on the market, 28mm is average at best, so there obviously has to be a big price difference.

      @@TheHybridShooter As I mention, if you are a professional, or a wealthy personal, by all mean, get the 24mm. Everyone else, 28mm would serve the purpose. It does 90% of 24mm for 20% the price. Use remaining 80% for trips to beautiful locations.

    I had the 28mm and the render was awful. I never liked the lens. I prefered even the render of 35 2.8. Price difference betweem this two lenses is not related only to sharpness or deph of field.
