I happened upon your Ted Talk this morning, and I have been smiling ever since! I turned in my resignation two days ago to follow my happy. I'm not exactly sure what all will come my way, but I know it wasn't coming when my cup was filled with the wrong thing! Thanks for your wonderful words! I'm ready to unlock the next level!!! (I've jumped out of a perfectly good airplane, too! And since then, I haven't come up against anything that I say I can't do! Lol)
Getting uncomfortable gets even easier when we know that humans can adapt to any situation regardless of how uncomfortable it is... Totally agree, if you want to shine then get comfortable being uncomfortable
I agree that everybody should be speaking because everyone has a specific and unique "window to the world that no one else has" (like Jeff Bollow said), and the world needs your unique contribution. Lewis, thank you for bringing these amazing voices to our attention! I appreciate you both!
I absolutely LUV Luvvie!! She is SO authentic. She inspires me and I aspire to one day be as great of a writer as she is. Thanks for having her on your show Lewis!!!
What I got out of this interview to go for your dreams even if it makes you uncomfortable! I have always wanted to be a TH-camr and share my message of overcoming setbacks and people not believing in me. I have started and gained a little momentum on the channel. I just have to keep going!
I have the fear of success and that has stopped me from posting mynwritong. I write short stories and poems and that fear has kept me from sharing anything. I felt like she was speaking to me when she was saying that. Wow. Thank you so much for this interview. I needed it. Bad.
I want to have a friend like her. Friends that won’t tell you where you went wrong for fear that the friendship gets rocky aren’t real friends, those are the ones that talk behind your back and say: “she said this and that. That was wrong! She is going crazy! We need to be careful with what we tell her”. And yet, those talking behind you back, are the ones that have a hard time accepting correction. I have been in both sides of the spectrum and I can tell you, I prefer the honest truth than the hidden hate. Of curse the truth needs to be delivered with love and compassion. By telling the truth you and your friend are going to feel uncomfortable, after some time she will return to you and be happy you told her the truth. Being uncomfortable is needed to get improvement. We’ll never be perfect at all things in this world, but we can practice a lot and keep improving our mistakes. It’s said that life is like an upside down school, you go thru the test and then learn the lesson. So you learned a lesson, but that doesn’t mean you will never go through the same test again, it will be with different people. Only when applying yourself to what you’ve learned is when you pass a test unharmed.
I can relate to that feeling of fear of the amplified success. I came across this video while I was looking for something to help me find my own voice. It's uncomfortable to be out front. I am still processing.
Fear of success is real because success makes us Response-Able in ways we can’t see until we get to that next level. It is definitely a disservice not to action towards your purpose because of fear.
47:00 -- shows you the importance of being a door knocker vs. a window opener (credit to Ali Abdaal here). To get what you want, you need to go out and get it; you can't just open your window and hope it comes your way.
Awesome video.👍 I love your work Lewis. Listening to Luvvie's story inspires me to write again even if it is in dribs and drabs and regardless of whether it is successful or not. Writing allows me to express my ideas, my learnings and my creativity. Thank you. 🙏
judging can be a good thong if you are doing it for right reasons and in right way. the thing to judge should be what they do (like being racist, hurting people) not who they are (like white, black, male, female ) . the right way would be appreciate the good and teach to the bad if they don't get feel srry for them rather them feeling angry. judging for right reason & way make the community strong for wrong reason or way it destroys communities
@@lewishowes You're welcome- keep doing what you're doing- providing knowledge and purpose in your signature warm and empathetic style, which really helps in these tumultuous times.
She sounds a bit too anxious & excited about becoming famous. There's a weakness in that, because.. i met strong famous people who don't quite give a fudge about being famous, it's always like something in the background to them.. Thus, i don't truly believe in the so-called "fear of success", but it's rather the fear of not being judged, or the fear of being overwhelmed to the point you lose your personal compass.

Awesome message! We need to be uncomfortable to grow as individuals, which is key in many aspects of life including general happiness

we were brought up to believe that silence is a virtue
I’ve never met anyone who projects that much. I will learn nothing here ! Bye!
