this game made me stop everything and just listen to the music so many times
the cutscene for this battle was so epic, it felt like it was more than a mock battle

Claude's idea before the battle might have been a good idea in an actual war but not during a mock battle. However in AM/VW, Edelgard makes sure that Petra/Assassin does exactly what Claude was suggesting for a possible tactic five years later.
Verdant Wind (Battle of the Eagle and Lions)
Claude: See that hill over there? It's a perfect place for a strategic location, I wonder if we should set it on fire.
Azure Moon/Verdant Wind (Battle of Grondor Field)
Petra/Assassin upon defeat: We must not let the enemy have this hill, set it aflame. (*Either Bernadetta or the generic Sniper up there dies as a result*)

2:41 always gives me chills as I just feel the emotion, and knowing what happens later the emotion is definitely applied.
2:40 my favourite moment.The emotion that I feel from this bit, it tells me it's a sorrowful battle full of regret, a battla that one doesn't wish for but has to partake.
Of course, this is only the vibe that I feel, it may have nothing to do with the battle that it's actually used for in the game
At this point in the game, this battle is just for fun.
However, there _is_ an actually tragic version of this battle that takes place later on; its battle theme is, fittingly, a more tragic version of this soundtrack.
Check out "Divine Rain: Between Heaven and Earth" if you want the true sorrowful battle full of regret. ;)

My first play through of 3H was GD, and I wasn't able to get Bernadette recruited in time (I achieved B support with her just a few days before the Battle at Garreg Mach), so when I faced her on that hill, as the flames spread around us, it really stung.
1:33 always gets me. It sounds so tragic... like a battle that shouldn't be happening.
I really love how this battle and the REAL battle have many variations it can played out. Either you try to gank with other house (and hoping they didnt target you), sit it out, or charge at both at the same time. The lords would comment differently too. I love it, it makes the game never got boring to play
This is one of the best pre-timeskip themes imo. But they missed the opportunity to call it “Battle Below Blue Skies”. Gotta love alliteration titles.
Might be a translation issue. Alot of Japanese games have some derpy song titles due to poor translations.

The Battle of the Eagle & Lion is, hands down, the *absolute best* part in Three Houses!
Walking through the train looking for a place to sit got pretty intense
the OST, the characters, the story. so memorable, so well done.. very few games can tug at the heart strings like this game can... even Engage couldnt recapture that feeling... heres hoping the next one might!

When taking the central hill is the best strategy
I got this game on a whim after deciding to get a switch on a whim back when I did. I had been out of playing Fire Emblem games since Radiant Dawn and gamestop had some sort of deal for getting 3 games and I had only chosen two. I picked this up and the fellow nerd at the counter was like "Ahhh, good choice!" The rest was history because now I'm a Fire Emblem addict again. Not playing them for so long made this game blindside me with how much gameplay it has to offer now.
At this point, I had a huge grin on my face, as I picked apart the enemy deftly and swiftly- they never got a chance to even face each other. Later on, with a different but similar theme, well...
This battle is my absolute favourite in the game. It's a friendly competition between the three houses, as they show off the results of how far they grew over the past six months, no one dies if it were a real war, and it has REALLY kick-ass music playing during the fight.
Dimitri: "FOR HONOR!
Me: "FOR THE BLUE LIONS! FOR VICTORY! FOR JUSTICE! FOR HIS FUTURE MAGESTY, DIMITRI!"

Beautiful track, very grand and epic. The dubstep percussion is great and unexpected. The strings are really good and the final sections are absolutely amazing.

In this battle, I recommend you take the central hill ASAP and split up from there. Have one group take on House A on the left and let the rest take on House B on the right. But that's just what worked for me though, do what you want

In my playthrough, Dimitri's army was beating the hell out of the Black Eagles.

I did the Blue Lions route for my first run through, pretty sure I sent Sylvain, Ingrid, and Flayne straight across the bridge to the Deer while everyone else went to the ballistae. Byleth went to pince the deer after taking that, Ashe took the ballistae and went ham and everyone else went straight for Edelgard.
Petra is an OP badass in this battle no matter which house you play as.
Doesn't matter which part or which difficulty.

The girl is crazy I swear! Everytime I tried to attack her, she'd just dodged and kill my Byleth in one to two hits.
Ignatz with a training bow is a decent shot.
I mean, if you play on normal she's a complete pushover like the entire game. But yeah. Petra was the one I was watching for on my playthroughs.
I sent Byleth and Dimitri to sweep the left of the map (I was playing the Blue Lions route) and I managed to take out Raphael, Caspar, Petra, and I believe Hubert (I'm not sure, but there was someone else with her at the time). No one couldn't do anything as I had Dimitri tanked. He either dodged or blocked, taking 2 or 4 damage if he gets hit anyway. He also had a Javelin to do ranged attacks and he always threw two, each doing 20+ damage.

The Battle of the Eagle and Lion (but not the Deer because they weren't important enough I guess, even though they still partake in the battle, so they're important enough to join in the fight but not important enough to be included in the name, thanks society.)
Well, the name of the battle was taken from the battle between the Kingdom and the Empire, the Alliance didn't exist at that time. I think ironically, the three countries have never actually had a for-real not-mock three-way battle until the events of the game (not spoilers because you see in the trailers, keep up everyone). The Alliance WAS part of the Kingdom, so I imagine when they call it "The Battle of the Eagle and Lion," the Alliance is sort of implicitly included in the "Lion" part, but yeah, it is an awkward title.
What's funny is that the game says that the winners of the (probably) previous mock battle were, in fact, the Golden Deer
Maybe because the Alliance didn't exist back when the battle on Gronder Field occured between the Kingdom and the Alliance ? Not be rude but did you even pay attention to the story ?

How I played when I went Golden Deer. I never even fought Edelgard, the Blue Lions wiped her out 😂.

Honestly, it kinda bugs me how it actually has the intro, considering it's not technically part of the soundtrack. If it's not a bother, would it be possible to get a version without the intro? It kills the mood when I put it on loop. Especially for the Thunder version since that one is a pain to find. Same goes for Between Heaven and Earth.

Indeed. I'm actually pretty excited. I don't mind the fact that's another FE rep because he has a unique moveset, I personally really like Three Houses and if Corrin made it despite Fates' controversy then Byleth deserves it because of 3H's success. Not what I expected to see, but I'll take it, especially since there are 6 more chances for my dream picks to still happen. I was bugged by the fact that they didn't add any Spirit from 3H before in some event, well that's why.
Plus, this track and a few other great tracks are joining too so you can fight to them! Couldn't help but notice that fan-favorite God-Shattering Star isn't in though. Oh well.
