@ I feel that lowkey. The ending was a confusing jumble of what was so close to peak. Didn’t ruin the show for me by any means but I definitely wish it had been given another season or even just one more episode. Not enough time for so much story.
@@artxroyaltyalso I have a question. The way that clogger looked back Maylo when he wrapped his arm around him during dance he looked back at Maylo wasn’t looking. The way he looked at him had me wonder if liked him in this universe
The thing that gets me is that other than Hextech not being invented, the biggest change in this other universe is that three years ago, Heimerdinger was still the head of the Piltover council and suddenly gained the memories of our Heimer who had spent time with Ekko and truly learned about the plight of the undercity. And he freaking did something about it If the council of the main timeline had just TRIED, they could have changed so much for the people of Zaun so quickly, and that thought makes me so sad, but... also makes me hopeful that it could improve just as much in a similarly short span of time post finale??
Yesss, and I’ve had conversations with others who say, “realistically what could Piltover have done??” and then we see something like this and it’s just ugh- it’s beautiful but so tragic at the same time
Yes! I've seen some reviews that criticized Heimerdinger's arc as truncated since he sacrifices himself at the end, but IMO it's the absolute perfect ending for him, and it's as much because of what he accomplished in his years in the alternate timeline as what he does for Ekko at the end of the episode. Part of what made this episode so special is how much it feels like Season 1, down to the expert visual and environmental storytelling - and everything about Powder's universe *sings* of how much good Heimerdinger was able to do now that he finally opened his eyes to the injustice around him. We don't need someone expositing about how Heimerdinger solved problems in the Undercity, when the characters' outfits, the food, the music, hell the *sky itself* tells us how much he has done for Zaun. For a character whose fundamental flaw in Season 1 was that all his good intentions amounted to nothing thanks to his willful blindness to the systemic oppression he helped to found, showing that he overcame this flaw and changed the world (even in an alternate reality), was the perfect capstone to Heimerdinger's arc.
I agree with you. I love Timebomb because I’m a fan of Ekko and Jinx, but CaitVi this season-my god, I hate it so much. As a fan of Vi, I hate seeing her, a girl from the undercity, getting abused by her privileged girlfriend who refers to her people as "animals," tells her, "It's her blood in your veins," hits her, and never apologizes whatsoever. All Vi did was take it and cling to Caitlyn the moment she saw her. I think CaitVi destroyed Vi’s character this season.
@@artxroyalty Did you hear what Amanda said? That Vi was reclaiming her prison traums in that scene from episode 8. The trauma they never explored. Imagine living 7 years in prison at 15 and never fully developing as an adult, just to reciaim your traums through sex
I honestly teared up so hard when they were inventing together. I loved seeing them both thriving but just seeing Powder doing her thing hit different. She has always been a genius. Plus the song playing in the background was such a vibe :)
@@artxroyalty I agree so so beautiful. Overwhelmingly lol It just sets up those epic scenes they had in episode 9 and makes it even better. From the talk to the Ballon Entrance. ISHAs balloon! The art on that balloon, the music, the final form outfits!! And the two character with the most swag team up. SO freaking epic. It is such a payoff to ep7 And I believe (for my sanity) that balloon wasn't built in a day. They had their time off screen to reconcile, gain a sense of retriubion, and prepare for war. And that makes me happy to imagine
Heimerdinger did say all the way back in season 1 episode 4 that there is no greater accomplishment for a teacher than to sacrifice his own future and legacy for his students. Our boy got his chance to do just that
Definitely one of the best episodes of the series. Made me cry so hard seeing what could have been. It definitely makes the rest of the series seem so much more tragic.
The scene that really hit me was when Claggor says to Ekko "Where would you be without her" and only then Ekko's headache starts. It looks like simple aftermath of being thrust into a parallel dimension but I think he's pained to see just how beautiful of a person Jinx could have been. I cried my eyes out because it reminded me how beautiful we can be if we don't let our demons take control of us.
So i know the gold accents to the dreads and the gold freckles are in homage to Mel, but it looks SO freaking good! Like, can we make that normal fashion? Gold accents and darker skin tones looks just literally divine.
This episode was so perfect, no notes, just everything was amazing. From Ekko’s arc to everything that was going on with Jacye, the parallels, the themes they were playing around with, I like the way they handled Hemidingers character and ofc Timebomb (like hello?) I loved it so much 😭
I confess some envy at your getting to see it on the big screen (let alone with VAs in attendance). This is my favorite episode of the show, because of just how bittersweet it was actually seeing how good things could have been, intercut with Jayce carrying his hammer like a cross across Hextech Mordor. Tonally it shouldn't work but it does. I blame the banjo music. Jinx/Ekko and Jayce/Ekko (and Ekko/Viktor and Ekko/Singed) are all useful comparison/contrast pairs. One of schnee's video installments here goes into how the writers use these dyads in great detail--it really opened my eyes on how to make super-dense stories like this work.
I know it is a 'happy episode' but I feel the tragedy beneath it much stronger. "Pretend Like It's The First Time" followed by the gently cheekgrasping hand and the kiss to that Ma Meilleure Ennemie track is the strongest fictional tearjerker I have experienced. Kudos to the character building and animation.

Then seeing the fan art of what we wished what could’ve been. But to actually see it in the show… oof. Like after so much tragedy, pain and trauma this episode was the most wholesome and made up for it. Even makes up for the final. But in all honesty I would have stopped right here. 17:55 I think she did realize it thanks to seeing the other Ekko there while her Ekko woke up with no recollection of what had happened. I think the biggest indicator is her putting the gift he gave her in that drawer, that drawer was where she was locking away things (like the hex gems) and moving forward with her Ekko.
I don't know why, but when Ekko reveals the painting I just bawled. There was another moment in this act, but I'll wait til we get there. I haven't had moments like that since TLOU2.

Ekko's chronobreak (time loop): 4 seconds Pretty sure to get the strobe effect on Ekko+Powder's dancing animation, they animated it at 4 frames per second.
My favorite theory about Jinx being alive is that Ekko also knows she is alive. Because at the end when Ekko burns the memorial paper, he only burns one. But if Jinx died he would have burned one for her AND Heimerdinger. But he only burns one paper. So who did he burn it for?
Singed’s happy ending is his daughter having a happy ending. He spent easily 10-15 years just for her. I feel like any father in the show would’ve done the same thing if they could

Do you think Ekko told Powder the truth about being from a literal other world when he asked for her help at the mural? Because their talk at the dance seems like it could go either way, and it kinda makes sense that she would know with their exchanged dialogue, but I haven't seen anyone else suggest it so maybe I'm just making it up 😂
@@RedEveTillDawn I personally think Powder knew something was a bit off with him, but I don’t think she put two and two together until she saw (our) Ekko in the machine. I'm so not ready for this And about the dance song, Meilleure Enemie means Best Enemy, which in french is super close to best friend (meilleur ami/enemi) in pronounciation It's a used pun in some cases, often used for a rival you kinda respect/like deep down Stromae and Pomme have been getting me emotional for years, they ruined me here lmao
@@krysisstorm2703 I don’t wanna get my hopes up, but I’m really hoping to see Jinx again at some point in the future. I love her so much and she’s so adored by the fan base, it’d suck if we never saw her again

It certainly was a teary Saturday for me... and a sensory hammering because of the plotpace and action burst. It was brilliant , but a bit much to digest. Don't get me wrong the ending was perfectly written - but man did I hate THAT choice... Now I feel some withdrawl symptomes but there was a very eye opening interview with Christian Linke on Necrit's channel of what to expect next (just saying - if you're interested)
@@69quato I know EXACTLY what you’re talking about and trust me, we share the same feelings there. I couldn’t bring myself to feel anything after seeing that, I honestly don’t have the willpower to rewatch that scene
@@artxroyalty Well - I've just watched Necrit's Act3 review and it put alot of balm on my wounded soul... it's way shorter than his 1v1 with Christian and he seems to have gotten a lot of insight out of that interview ). Watch it if you're getting too depressed with the state of things after the end of Arcane.
I had the same reaction. To be clear, i loved season 2, love the show still, but by episode 7, two things had sunk in. That we had moved away from the grounded storytelling that made season one special, and tipped the balance more towards the music and spectacle, and, that act 2 - so i thought - had played all it's big sentiment cards with the Isha story. So I sat down for episode 7 still loving it, but a bit more distanced ... then the disc flipped over to show Echo and Powder and I immediately had to fight back tears.
I if I was going to get super critical, not fault finding, just considering storytelling and how it works, there is a kind of 'tale of two episode 7s'. Because, in fact, everything that I saw and felt during the Timebomb episode, which was beautiful, I had already experienced at the end of The Boy Savior, but in another way. After the fight sequence on the bridge, the look between them, Jinx trying to end it all in a moment of terrible clarity and the image of the ticking pocketwatch, I went for a long walk and my mind was firing. I thought about what could have been, but there was space for my own imagination and experience. So as I imagined life for them had the tragedy never happened, I also thought about similar stuff in my own life, and it was informed by the class/socio-political elements the show was based in too, and there was space for that because the show had left it unshown. On top of that, I kind of came to similar conclusions, I imagined that in a fairer world Powder's talents would have led her to be an inventor and maybe try for the academy, but I also thought about how she always wanted a loving, safe community, and then I imagined her as working the bar with Vander and being a kind of cool mother to the other young ones. So I think there's a case for Pretend like it's the First Time being a cathartic experience, and a beautiful piece of art, but also a trade off, that takes away other elements of the show, especially in terms of how the viewer interacts with it.
@@AndyBestHP I will say…and I’m trying to save my overall commentary of s2 for a later video…BUT them diverting from the Zaun/Piltover storyline and focusing mainly on Jayce, Viktor, and Hextech…I wasn’t the biggest fan of that choice. Still loved the season, but kind of wish some things were addressed before it concluded
@@artxroyalty I have just seen this and also seen your next video, and you cover it all in detail, nice. I grew up in working class Northern UK during 80s Thatcherism and it was tough and our capital veered between abandoning us and outright hostility. part of me adoring this show was right from episode one I saw these things in teh world and the characters, and it all rang so true - in an animated fantasy show.
Let’s ask the real questions here… AU powder catches a glimpse of jacked, painted, killmonger dreaded up Dystopian rebel leader Ekko…. How often is she asking her Ekko to hit some push ups and try on a lil face paint 🧐🧐🧐🧐

Ekko's chronobreak (time loop): 4 seconds
Pretty sure to get the strobe effect on Ekko+Powder's dancing animation, they animated it at 4 frames per second.
My favorite theory about Jinx being alive is that Ekko also knows she is alive. Because at the end when Ekko burns the memorial paper, he only burns one. But if Jinx died he would have burned one for her AND Heimerdinger. But he only burns one paper. So who did he burn it for?
While I agree Singed "shouldn't" have got a happy ending, perhaps his daughter deserved one? I'm not confident she did though.
Singed’s happy ending is his daughter having a happy ending. He spent easily 10-15 years just for her. I feel like any father in the show would’ve done the same thing if they could
Singed out-Heisenberged Heisenberg.
@@Hohum37 it’s just all the agony others endured for her to get it though, I’m not feeling it
So crazy they decided to give us this episode after the episode 5 finale, so nice of Riot, what a wonderful update on my two faves, so glad to see everyone is healthy and happy (except my bb Vi). 😐😐😩😩
Timebomb⏳💣 forever
it's so bittersweet.
one possibility for going to different realities might me Jayce attacked the wild rune
with the hammer, and Heimerdinger and Ekko were bystanders.
8:11 I think Jace wasn’t sent to the reality with ekko and heim either because Viktor had some control over where Jace went Or Jace successfully offed himself after the explosion
So this universe is what could have been
And I wanted to say that this channel really is the best reaction channel out there ! I really feel I'm part of a community and all the members of the discord server are so cool ! Keep up !!
Actually…since she literally helped build it I feel at some point she clocked it then and seeing him in the machine confirmed it for her
I'm so not ready for this
And about the dance song, Meilleure Enemie means Best Enemy, which in french is super close to best friend (meilleur ami/enemi) in pronounciation
It's a used pun in some cases, often used for a rival you kinda respect/like deep down
Stromae and Pomme have been getting me emotional for years, they ruined me here lmao
@@Lathrok ugh that makes it cut so deep
I think Viktor brought Jayce to that reality to show him what happened then explain what to do
@@RedEveTillDawn I agree!
Riot has confirmed 3 projects based in Ionia, Demacia, and Noxus. Jinx is just out in the world. She probably will show up somewhere.
@@krysisstorm2703 I don’t wanna get my hopes up, but I’m really hoping to see Jinx again at some point in the future. I love her so much and she’s so adored by the fan base, it’d suck if we never saw her again
@artxroyalty We'll definitely see her again. Now, when and where...who knows! My money is in Demacia. In game lore, her best friend is a champion
named Lux, who is a female mage of around the same age. She is from Demacia, so it would make sense to put Jinx there.

I like time bomb but I think jinx figuring out who she is for a few would benefit both of them
just pretend like its your first time watching
@@liamailiam for some reason with Arcane, it always feels like the first time
Is it really timebomb if powder doesnt make bombs though
@@mathies3598 time…powder?
wow you're pretty, you could be a character yourself
Ok, but my question is, is it really timebomb? This is powder and ekko, not jinx and ekko. But I do love this episode and was happy to see this, wish we coulda seen more happy powder/jinx
@@OliveTheLion timepowder? Pekko? Nahh I like timebomb more 😅
@ timebomb is definitely the best name, but Pekko sounds like a fish lolz
I think it qualifies for Timebomb, because the point of the episode was convincing Ekko not to give up on Jinx. After all, Jinx is Powder. With that in mind, Ekko immediately heads back to his universe and, this time, he keeps trying.
I got nothing to say other than s/o Timebomb
@@sothanatoasted real. That’s all that needs to be said
False advertising is bad. If you've already watched the episode, it shouldn't be named "Aisha reacts".
