I think Heimerdinger is part of the reason why things were so much better in the alternate universe. He tells Ekko that he'd accomplished wonderful things in the time that he'd been there, so maybe he helped to unify Zaun and Piltover even more. Part of the reason that things were so bad in season 1 is because he was very passive on the council and was ignoring the struggles of the people in Zaun. He also only got kicked off of the council because of Jace and Hextech in season 1. So, it's probably of a mixture of no Hextech plus an alternate universe Heimerdinger, who still has a seat on the council, working for years to make things better in both cities.
That's true don't get me wrong but at the same time it's open ended for interpretation since they didn't make it 100% clear. Ekko x Powder was such a lovely couple, she so sweet and loving. It would have be super easy and logical for him to stay in this timeline with his lady who never fell to the dark side and where Benzo and the others were living pleasantly, and the mural he painted in Vi’s image was such so touching and heartwarming. Yet he went back to his own chaotic world to try help and save it. Dani’s is correct, Ekko really is admirable. He is a true hero.

I think along with all the events that prevented Hextech and helped mend relations between Piltover and Zaun, Heimerdinger said he'd been busy for his 1000 days, so perhaps Heimer seeing what Ekko built with the firelights lead him to push for better integration of the sides. Ekko told Heimer earlier "its not enough to give people what they need to survive, you have to give them what they need to live".

Legit one of my favorite episodes of the series, easy 10/10. Ekko has always been one of the best characters imo, and the whole "make the most out of the time you have" theme of his story and this episode is just so sweet. Seeing Powder and Ekko finally have their moment is cathartic as all hell, and the song has been on repeat in my head since the episode came out.
May also has something to do with Heimerdinger deciding to become the change he was meant to be in the three years he's there. In the past he was oblivious to Zaun's suffering while locked in his ivory tower, in this timeline he got the time for a do-over as a councilor and alleviated all the pain he witnessed in season 1.
@@a.a677or probably offing himself after his research killed a child. for that the council must’ve reprimanded him way worse than they did in the normal universe where the worst thing that happened was property damage.
Just thinking about this episode makes me a bit emotional, it is beautiful, comforting, and sad. I am a 30yo guy and this brings me back to when I was 18 and finally kissed my crush for the first time. At the time she moved out of the country, but was visiting, and met up with me and our shared friends at a party. Finally had the courage to kiss her, it was very special, but within a few days she would have to go back to her country. I was so nervous my hands - which were holding hers - were shaking quite a bit. That scene just floods my memories quite vividly of those days.
Actually It isn’t a rose but a blue peony flower and in France the meaning of blue peonies is closely related to an unforgettable crush or unattainable love (idk if it’s a "worldwide meaning")
my personal theory is two things. either jayce died in the explosion when he was attempting to open the door during the heist, he actually broke down the door and he took the blast (the door shielded him somewhat in s1). or viktor wasn't there/or didnt interrupt" him when he was gonna take his own life after getting the decision from the counsel.
Jayce simply didnt come to his lab at the time of the heist. Without him doing so and making noise in the hallway, the kids wouldn't have sped up their departure, so Vi would've been right in the blast zone. After the explosion confirmed killed a young child, even if they were stealing, the research was likely outlawed, and Jayce either arrested or banned. Vi's death likely also led the way to Zaun's independence and peaceful cooperation with Piltover.
Ekko is my favorite character, and seeing him so happy in this episode was so great, without a doubt my favorite episode of the entire Arcane series❤️🩹
I thought episode five was the happiest when i saw it but this is clearly the happiest episode of all Arcane!! French song at the end hits the heart so hard! The lyrics read “but my greatest enemy is you. Flee from me. The worst is you and me” while Powder and Ekko are dancing. Omg so much emotion 😭
from what I understood from the ending is that the alternate dimension powder kinda knew that the og universe ekko (arcane ekko) was from a different dimension. she was giving hints that she kinda knew that ekko wasn't her ekko by the way she was staring at the notes, etc and ekko himself, so her putting the little blue rose trinket inside of the alter, which is a place to honor the "dead", was a way of honoring or remembering the og dimension ekko. thats my take tho heh
16:39 the thing here that a few noticed is that ekko didn´t intended to make " a time travel machine " he was forcing the wild rune to appear wich it's existence is due to " ask " things to the hexcore , basically ekko accidentally created his time travel thing but .. the goal was to replicate a wild rune .. cuz is the same anomaly that bringed him here
23:55 This is actually a common sacrifice trope in shows and movies. Where something goes wrong and someone has to go manually operate the device/transportation in dangerous situations. The machine broke and Heimerdinger took it upon himself to fix it and save Ekko and/or the world around them from being destroyed by the anomaly. There are also theories that the device needed a sacrifice of equal value (hence disappearing items) for transdimensional travel… or it will be unstable. Heimerdinger was this sacrifice/fuel to get Ekko home.
Great reaction ladies!! Awesome in fact. I believe that at 20:16 when Powder says: ''Sometimes, taking a leap forward means leaving a few things behind'' she knows that's not her Ekko. Hear her intonation, her facial expression and what she is saying. It's like she is coping/accepting the fact that this Ekko she has been haging out for the past days/weeks has to leave and she has to let him go. Perhaps she knows since she read about their research and experiments from Ekko's journal. And we also don't know what personality the Ekko from the other reality has and how his relationship with Powder is. Perhaps our Ekko reinvigorated Powder in a way that the unknown Ekko hasn't in a while. What our Ekko was saying to her would have sounded super weird without context: ''I gave up on you'', 'I dreamt about a liberated and peaceful undercity'', ''Can we pretend like it's the first time?'' but she didn't care and went along with all of that because she truly loves Ekko. So, she knew she had to let this new Ekko go, which to me makes it all the more heartbreaking... What an awesome series, almost flawless.
She literally predicted every single plot point of every episode very time. It's so clear she's one of those weirdos that spoils themselves to make "predictions" to seem smart
Maybe in Another Universe.🥲🌌💕 David and Lucy • Cyberpunk Edgerunners Miles and Gwen • Spider-Man Across the Spider verse Mark and Eve • Invincible Ekko and Powder • Arcane 🥲😭
IMO Hextech not being there isnt the sole reason Ekko AU is so peaceful. For me there are 3 main reasons : No hextech, No Shimmer, Heimerdinger now living in the undercity. -No hextech means no council pushing for trade deals from every nation using the hexgates, meaning the city just devellops "normally". -Silco having found Vander's letter means he changed his ways and probably started making the Zaun project WITH Vander. Basing their progress on community devellopment. Without relying on Piltover. We see Clagor and milo talking about their inventions cleaning the air for the fissures. They are actively working into making their community heal (Ekko's way of doing things from the main reality) -Heimer arrived 3 years before ekko. As a councelor he must have done lots of policy changes (for instance proposing the inovator's competition is held WITH Zaun and not just Piltover) Now he seems to live in Zaun and seems to be working with Zaunites to better the community. He must also be working with Vander and Silco. Heimerdinger isnt dead most likely, not because Yorldes are immortal (even tho they are). But actually Heimer might simply have turned invisible (one of the perks of being a Yordle) Heimer made his peace with being in this world and wanted to stay and keep building what he had been building for 3 years now. He learned from ekko how to live in the moment, which is what he is doing rn, in this reality.
29:01 Silco was only able to forgive Vander because they both made a promise to Vi's mother to protect her, and they failed with Vi dying. That's what I got out of that. Then Hextech wasn't made because Jayce was caught in the explosion probably as well or sent to jail or banished.
Just wanna express how much i love this channel. Y'all really pay attention to shows even to the point that you guys recognize the small side characters that they throw in. Haven't seen many other reactors notice those small additions
For the love of god, i just cant watch this whole dance scene without crying. this dialogue and animation is just too beautiful. like the pain in his eyes shortly before they kiss and her comforting, almost knowing look. i just cant 😭
This is definitely my favorite episode of the season, its so beautiful 😍🥺😭 I'm so happy to know that at least in one universe Ekko and Powder (Jinx) are happy together ⏳💣💚💙🥰🥰
There’s a special interaction in the game where Ekko says to Jinx, “I used to have a crush… until you started talking to the gun.” Thanks, Arcane, for telling us it was mutual.
It isn't clear what happened to Heimerdinger in Arcane, but at least in the greater League of Legends lore, Yordles are magical beings native to the spirit world and are unable to truly die. We don't know what happens exactly to them, but they most likely find their way back to their native home of Bandle City.
There's a couple of dots to connect in this episode. Jayce didn't land in this dimension because he is very likely dead. He was on the verge of killing himself in the original timeline and in this one, his experiments caused the death of a child. His punishment would have likely been more severe and Viktor probably would not have become interested in his work in the first place and so would not have sought Jayce out and stopped him from jumping. The other implication is that it seems like Hextech is inevitable even in this alternate timeline, meaning it too is doomed. We see that Powder kept the stones from the workshop and Ekko and Heimerdinger just gave her a crash course on how it works. She will likely create it here and bring about the same fate. I do wish the show had spent more time exploring the temptation for Ekko to stay. I think it'd be a very natural reaction for him to have and it'd be more heart wrenching to watch him struggle to make the right choice to tear himself away and go home.
Lots of forums pointed out in the first scene that Powder's reflection is Jynx, but I just notices that Echo throwing the canister at 3:46 is forshadowing his throw at Viktor. The canister looks identical
I think the ultimate blame is the hex crystals. Not Jayce, ekko, powder or anyone. Those crystals are inherently dangerous and are the cause of everything bad.
I'm approaching middle age. Let me tell you, "what if" thoughts become more and more haunting. The way this episode straight up has us *experience* the what if makes it hurt so much more. It really highlights how pretty much everyone's lives in their home timeline are complete tragedies.
Heimerdenger lowkey an MVP. In the real reality he was exiled and casted out and in this alt reality hes loved but he still helped Ekko return at the cost of his own life to get back home
23:27 Heimerdinger’s a yordle, death is more of a…. suggestion for them (he’s going to respawn back in the yordle hometown of bandle city). Whether or not he comes back in the main timeline or is stuck in the alternate one though, that we don’t know
This episode was probably my favorite of the whole series. Somehow it really messed with my view of the world and how i look back at my younger years. Ekko is such a great dude and a real hero for choosing to go back for his people even after experiencing this piece of heaven, i wouldn't be able to
Caitlyn most likely died in the same explosion that killed Vi. It makes sense in a depressing way, they can't live without the other and the only timeline they aren't together is the one where they are both dead.
About Heimerdinger staying behind. While the machine ramped up it did start to break(a plate fell off a coil thingy as it ramped up). Heimy was also the one who MADE those upgrades. In his maturity I think he made a choice for the greater good. RIP The fluffy wise old coot. Will be missed ❤️🩹
One thing that's part of the lore, not a lot of people know emember is that yordles (Heimer's people) are functionally immortal. When they die, they respawn in their native land
Instead of what was discussed in minute 28.20 and some of the theories shared here in the comments, I like to think the following: 1. Vi's passing in the explosion becomes a turning point, drawing attention to the systemic marginalization of Zaunites. Especially as it occurs in Piltover's upper city, it serves as a powerful and symbolic loss. 2. Vander and Silco's reconciliation: since both had been deeply connected to Vi's mother (whom, I assume, has also passed during this universe's version of the revolt we see in season 1) and thanks to Silco finding the letter Vander had written and left in the mines, they came together adopting the girls, but after this incident both channel their grief into peaceful action to honor Vi's memory and making sure that she's the last victim. 3. Heimerdinger's Absence: In this alternate universe, Heimerdinger doesn't exist, making it so that the vast majority of the council votes for Jayce's exile, assuming he had survived the explosion. This is hinted by the fact that when Heimerdinger sacrifices himself to activate the device at the end of the episode, he leaves no version of himself behind-unlike Ekko. 4. Council's Response: The council, shaken by the explosion and with Vander & Silco's united front, is moved to address the deep divides between Piltover and Zaun. They take decisive action, including exiling Jayce for conducting dangerous experiments without oversight. 5. Social Reform: Vi’s death becomes a catalyst for change, prompting unity and discussion among factions to mend the upper and lower city’s relationship. This marks a significant shift from the prior neglect of Zaun’s struggles, emphasizing reconciliation and justice. All of these doesn't discard the possibility of having the hex tech being developed elsewhere by an exiled Jayce under the service of factions like Noxus.
I've seen other people comment about heimerdinger helping unify zaun and piltover in the time he has been there. So I'll add another bit confirmed by the writers: one more thing that started this butterfly effect was the death of vi - a poor, starving zaunite child - dying due to the explosion from the restricted materials kept by Jayce. Marcus was the first one to get there, and I assume the scene he encountered left its mark.
I'm pretty sure someone's said that the 4 second time thing is an ability of his in the game, which is why I love the show. I'm a little late to the party but loving the reactions
"In another life, I would have really liked just doing laundry & taxes with you." Ekko is a stronger person then me, I would have stayed in that ideal universe in a heartbeat.
I think this world is also not a shitshow thanks in part to Heimer hindsight. He arrived slighty before or around the same when the time skip of season 1 happened so he got his ass off the council chair and worked to make the under city a better place. He went out of his way to be friends again with the Ekko and everyone else from that universe, i can't imagine the shock it must have been to have the head of the council just walking into an undercity pub 😂
The reason things were so great in the time-line Ekko was in, is because Vi's death was a wake up call for everyone, not because Hextech didn't exist. Vander and Silco promised the girls' mom that they would make things work. Vi's death was enough to help them mend their relationship. Hiemerdinger being in that time-line for 3 years allowed him to use his brilliance to help the under city.
The transitions from Ekko living the best reality and being happy to Jayce fighting his demons in hell like he's Doom Guy will never not be hilarious.
Ekko: dancing, vibing, doing a fun science project, kissing his childhood crush
Jayce: P A I N
Peak comedy
I love comparing these two plots so much. Seeing Jayce suffering right after the dance scene was great.
it's revenge for that time when Jayce is having the time of his life with Mel, meanwhile Viktor is dying lmao

Another detail, roses are never blue. Blue roses never occur naturally. Giving someone a blue rose is symbolism for unattainable love.

@@johnnykotletti4614 Cuz he literally said that he's done a LOT since arriving there. And since Silco does have the scar, the divide was still there between Piltover and Zaun, alongside their efforts, I bet Heimerdingdong also did his part. People weren't just IGNORING him they were enjoying the song he was singing. Totally different. It's not like they're gonna worship the ground he walked on just cuz he contributed to the peace between Zaun and Piltover.
@@chickenbiskit3620 Done a lot of what ? Building guitars, singing, beeing a street musican ? Don't you think the ppl would at least acknowledge his deeds or look at least at him while he sits in a bar if he rly was the the reason why zaun is doing so well ? Iam sorry, all we could see was Heimerdinger beeing a useless street musican.
@@johnnykotletti4614 he's on the council still and head of the Academy. And our group of kids are taking part in the Innovators Competition, and dressed like the Academia skin line in the game. And Heimer was actually just hanging out in the bar. So it seems likely hes expanded at least some parts of the Academy to the people of Zaun to give them opportunity to live and innovate.
@mathmexican4234 ... and again. How do you know this ? How do you know that he was even a part of this universe to begin with ? All we see is him beeing a useless bumb. I am asking for how you came to this assumption ... not for more assumptions, lol.
To think that Vi dying to a Hextech explosion was all the tragedy it took for things to turn around in another timeline.
That awkward moment when Ekko tells her that Zaun gets a better timeline if she dies in Episode 1 😂
Also Jayce dying in the same explosion most likely (alongside Caitlyn)
Ekko is the goat of this series idc.
Fun fact: the blue rose necklace has ekko and powder's side profile on it 24:20
Actually It isn’t a rose but a blue peony flower and in France the meaning of blue peonies is closely related to an unforgettable crush or unattainable love (idk if it’s a "worldwide meaning")
You guys definitely give the best reactions for Arcane.
One of my favorite reactor groups ever
Seeing how happy they all could’ve been is just twisting that emotional knife in the heart😭at least Ekko got to say a proper goodbye to Benzo
my personal theory is two things. either jayce died in the explosion when he was attempting to open the door during the heist, he actually broke down the door and he took the blast (the door shielded him somewhat in s1). or viktor wasn't there/or didnt interrupt" him when he was gonna take his own life after getting the decision from the counsel.
And the world was all the better for it cuz let’s face it, it was Jayce’s tampering with the Arcane that started this whole thing 😂
@@therealneal3034 it was infact, not Jayce
@ it might as well have been.
Strength to climb away from hell-Jayce
Strength to turn away from heaven-Ekko
Saw this somewhere.
from what I understood from the ending is that the alternate dimension powder kinda knew that the og universe ekko (arcane ekko) was from a different dimension. she was giving hints that she kinda knew that ekko wasn't her ekko by the way she was staring at the notes, etc and ekko himself, so her putting the little blue rose trinket inside of the alter, which is a place to honor the "dead", was a way of honoring or remembering the og dimension ekko. thats my take tho heh
20:05 Dani manifesting every one's reaction on this one lmao, this whole scene felt so bittersweet fr
My favorite arcane episode by far
16:39 the thing here that a few noticed is that ekko didn´t intended to make " a time travel machine " he was forcing the wild rune to appear wich it's existence is due to " ask " things to the hexcore , basically ekko accidentally created his time travel thing but .. the goal was to replicate a wild rune .. cuz is the same anomaly that bringed him here
Dani's reaction during all the cute Ekko & Jinx moments was literally all of us 😭
23:55 This is actually a common sacrifice trope in shows and movies.
Yordles are magical beings and cant die, Heimerdinger will respawn in his home, Bandle City and will be safe
I love Heimer's '...even during my unusually long lifetime'
Bro you live forever, that's not long it's forever XD
5:08 HOW !? LMAO 🤣great prediction
Yeah so precise.
She literally predicted every single plot point of every episode very time. It's so clear she's one of those weirdos that spoils themselves to make "predictions" to seem smart
Ekko x Powder
What could've been... 😭
What should’ve of been
Best episode of the entire series
This episode is the one I been super excited for. Thanks for delivering ladies.
Maybe in Another Universe.🥲🌌💕
David and Lucy • Cyberpunk Edgerunners

🥲😭
They are actively working into making their community heal (Ekko's way of doing things from the main reality)
-Heimer arrived 3 years before ekko.
If not mentioned before, the blue rose means “forever but unattainable love”.
This is definitely my favorite episode of the season, its so beautiful 😍🥺😭 I'm so happy to know that at least in one universe Ekko and Powder (Jinx) are happy together ⏳💣💚💙🥰🥰
Best episode of s2 really wished they took their time and played out these story lines more...
There’s a special interaction in the game where Ekko says to Jinx, “I used to have a crush… until you started talking to the gun.”
Thanks, Arcane, for telling us it was mutual.
Yep and just today, jinx had a new voice line added that goes
"What's the matter little man? You really jealous of a gun?"
@ that’s actually hilarious 😂
It isn't clear what happened to Heimerdinger in Arcane, but at least in the greater League of Legends lore, Yordles are magical beings native to the spirit world and are unable to truly die. We don't know what happens exactly to them, but they most likely find their way back to their native home of Bandle City.
I’ve never had an episode impact me as much as this one has. It is so, so tragic and heartbreaking.
You have to be strong to get out of hell but much stronger to give up your heaven 😢
Samantha is on point with every prediction she made this episode.
Lots of forums pointed out in the first scene that Powder's reflection is Jynx, but I just notices that Echo throwing the canister at 3:46 is forshadowing his throw at Viktor. The canister looks identical
Ekko the true hero.
Powder/Jinx still my favourite character.
I feel this
I think the ultimate blame is the hex crystals. Not Jayce, ekko, powder or anyone. Those crystals are inherently dangerous and are the cause of everything bad.
Dani is literally me watching with my homies in this episode 😭😭😭😭
the boy savior who let go of his "heaven" to save his own world and jayce who went through hell in order to try and prevent it
20:54 that transition was hilarious 😂😂😂
Love how Dani is super invested
Perfect placement of the YT-Button btw with the reflection
I'm approaching middle age. Let me tell you, "what if" thoughts become more and more haunting. The way this episode straight up has us *experience* the what if makes it hurt so much more. It really highlights how pretty much everyone's lives in their home timeline are complete tragedies.
I imagine Jayce meeting back up with Ekko and Heimer like, "Oh, did you guys have fun? Goooood for youuuuu."
Went from no feelings on Timebomb to them being OTP over the course of an episode.
1 min into the episode, danny already crying, i love her
When hes walking on the bridge, the flashback he has is actually AFTER jinx exploded both of them after he stopped punching her. He came back for her😢
Sam having a mental breakdown during most parts of this episode is so funny 😂 😂
This is my favourite episode. So wholesome.
The necklace meaning "unattainable love" hits real deep.
Best episode, so good, so tragic
fun fact - dance scene was 4 frames per 1 second.
that just shows how much echo wanted to stay in this moment with powder.
One thing that's part of the lore, not a lot of people know
emember is that yordles (Heimer's people) are functionally immortal. When they die, they respawn in their native land
Episode 7 is definitely my favorite of the season just such a fantastic but bittersweet episode for Ekko 💙
6:06 All Hail to the King & Queen of Zaun!! Ekko’s titles are CRAZY
sam having a mental breakdown the whole episode was funny af
Lolol yes this whole thing was Jayce’s fault. 😂😂😂
It could be that in that universe, Viktor never stopped Jayce from committing suicide.
The girls guessed what the episode was gonna be about in 2min, impressive!
Instead of what was discussed in minute 28.20 and some of the theories shared here in the comments, I like to think the following:
If you look closely enough to the flower medallion ekko gave Powder, you can see Ekko and Powder in it.
"In another life, I would have really liked just doing laundry & taxes with you."
Ekko is a stronger person then me, I would have stayed in that ideal universe in a heartbeat.
Jinx: I can fix her!
Powder: She can fix me!
Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! I live for your reactions, they complete the series for me, you are the best.
Cool detail is you can see Ekko and Jynx’s face on the locket he gave Jynx, specially when she puts it in the drawer.
JAYCE FOR THE WIN!
Jayce’s wins usually involve the deaths of children so at least don’t all caps it😂
that alternate universe is basically the Trolley problem. sacrificing Vi for peace for everyone or keep Vi alive and the world exists as it is
FUN FACT heimer is a yordle a magical creature in this world , when they die the pretty much respawn at the species magical homeland
