Yeah, hair is difficult. Just lots of work, no matter how it's sliced. I've been using Photoshop since 1993, and it's stunning how far the tech has advanced in all that time. You did really good with the tutorial and the video too. :)
It's stunning how far it's come, Especially for doing hair. Yet hair still remains a pain in the ass. People who don't do it (clients etc.) have no idea. "Why is it so expensive. You can just paint over it, right?"
I anticipated most of the techniques except the part where you colored the roots of the hair - I totally missed that one. That's good to know. Great thing I own a tablet. I've experienced how frustrating it was while working with hair strands. By the way, I like your voice. It sounds so friendly. ❤️
just a helpful tip, i would go in and erase the scalp that’s white and visible due to the lightening of the hair just so it’s not so noticeable and also i’d add shadows to the parts of the hair where shadows would be like behind her neck, around the base of the ponytail etc. but overall fantastic job queen ❤️
i really love this, it looks real, but i have questions normal i use the brushes available in photoshop and I am modifying them and takes a lot of time.... Whats the bursh u using when u draw the hair?!!!
oh and also can you make like a video where you talk about your graphic tablet? like how did it help you and where did you get it from and stuff like that , -if it's not bothering for you- , i'm thinking about getting one and i'm completely clueless , and i thought you can help since we both use it for designing and stuff it would mean a lot , thank yooou
The problem is that you're painting on the color part of the layer, and you should be painting on the MASK part (the square part to the right in the layer palette) So click with the mouse on that right-side square on the layer (the mask) and it will work.
@@davidsirmons when I click on the right square and use the paint brush, nothing happens. In this tutorial, as she paints the hair, it seems to lighten while still showing the texture of the hair underneath and yet her opacity is set to 100. Any ideas why?

Tried all of those steps, even set the same values, didn't work at all. Even with a much lighter brown hair it turned it yellow not white.

the first brushes on photoshop. You know when u open the brush panel you'll see the top layer; i just use one of those (did that make sense?)

after you add the layer mask and just say to paint her hair with the brush tool it just colors it white for me???
Maybe the problem is the colour palette. Go to 1.31 to know what I'm talking about

@@blue3381 if you see at the top, there's a "MODE" option, make sure it's on "Normal"
i have a plugin which makes that in 5 seconds.
