Just got my first ancient coin this week! I got a Philip II, King of Macedonia. c. 359-336 BC. I'm super excited to be getting into the hobby and it's already been so fun researching different coins. I can't wait to find a trusted seller for dirty coins and get into cleaning and identifying them! Thanks for sharing your love for the hobby and getting me into it!
Awesome coin! Welcome to the hobby - get ready to fall down some historical rabbit holes haha
I like technical and instructional videos like this.
Thanks!
🙏🥰
Glad you enjoyed it!
I love this type of video!
That's how i do it. I must have taught you. Spot on my friend👍👍👍🙂🙂🙂
Beautiful work!! Great video!
Thank you! Cheers!
Nice job! Fun fact the rim isn't worn away, the rest of the coin would have been equally worn, it was simply struck on a smaller flan. As before, coins were regularly devalued to stretch the budget.
Good point!
Much better audio in this video thank you!
Always look forward to your videos
Really great restoration. Love they fallen horseman reverse
Thank you very much!
FELix TEMPorvm
REPARATIO, or FELicivm TEMPorvm REPARATIO, or FELicis TEMPoris RE-
PARATIO. The "M" stands for Magnetius Flavius Magnus a roman politician and It also means that It was made in Rome in 350 a.d. circa.

Where do you get these dirty coins from?
Do you play chess or have a chess channel you sound familiar with
Do you know where the coin was found?
The coin came from a lot found in Serbia, but that's all I know.
@@historyathome Okay, thank you, Serbia is not far from Rome so I can imagine there are a lot of finds there. All the best from England.
Sembrano essere due gladiatori.
I just bought a fallen horseman from 27 bc today for 7 dollars
Congrats!
I thought cleaning coins was taboo because it lowers value...
This is the rule with modern coinage. With ancients, almost every coin goes through a cleaning process before it can be displayed or sold, because if they didn’t they would just be dirt clods.
Amazing video. Id love to get an authentic ancient roman coin, but am cautious about online buying of old coins and I dont know enough to buy in person.
I would look at vcoins.com - their sellers are known to be reputable and only sell authentic coins. Still do your research though before buying!
