      Hope he's legal. Sorry for long text!
      Gold and silver are classed as ‘Mines Royal’. This means that in most cases they belong to the Crown. Because of this, if you intend to carry out gold and silver exploration for commercial gain, you should contact The Crown Estate.
      You will also need permission from The Crown Estate to take away gold that you may have found or discovered, whatever the method you have used. However, if you find gold through panning it is unlikely that The Crown Estate will grant you permission to take it away.
      The Crown Estate may sometimes grant you a lease of Mines Royal within a specific area. However, you will still have to get rights of access to this land from the landowner.
      If you want to commercially exploit any Mines Royal, you should contact Wardell Armstrong LLP - The Crown Estate Mineral Agent.

    People have panned for gold in Cornwall and it has been found while mining, but it has never been mined commercially. By the mid 19th century Devon and Cornwall had became a major copper and tin producing area, with 209,305 tons of ore mined 1885/6. Cornwall boasted over 2,000 mines

    As a UK prospector, I'm absolutely shocked by how much of a scam this is. We have all the Mineral Reconnaissance Reports from the BGS (similar to the USGS) available online and there is places where AU was found. I record all my finds as Unicorn 'AU' Poo, whether it Cornish, Devon, Welsh or Scottish since its darn hard to find (cue link for Kleshs' Scotland trip).
    It's fun tho finding a few specks, however its being outdoors in nature that is the true gold... 😁😁😁

    This has saved many UK people interested in gold panning from making an expensive mistake. From your results it looks suspiciously like the only gold in the sample were the few flakes the supplier added. A scam.

  • @Denathorn
    @Denathorn 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is the problem with home prospecting in the UK, it's either buy rubbish, or get proper gear from the US or Canada and be hit with postage, which tends to double the cost of the paydirt.
    Even good sellers over here, which started great with a nice consistency of results with gold between each classifications have become stale, you may get 0.3g or whatever, but, you'll find it all salted in one classification, which doesnt make it very fun.
    It is what it is though, you either pay, or you prospect something else, someone mentioned tin, up my way, it is lead... Gold is very rare in the UK, yeah, it's dotted about (Like the Lake District, yep, that one Taylor Swift sang about), but, its still only traces, but generally, because of the size of the UK, any good areas will be commercial, and have permission from the Crown Estate, because silver and gold in the UK is classed as 'Mines Royal', now, he might have salted them laughable larger pieces, but, the flour stuff... Technically, that belongs to the Queen! :D hehehe
    EDIT: Cack... Just saw another comment that mentions the same as mine, me bad! :D

    Sadly the UK market is flooded with scam artists selling gold that is promoted as from the UK but isnt, paydirt like the one you've got that has hardly anything in it and even paydirt that is laced with gold recovered from electronics.
    There are a few sellers that give genuine paydirt with a set amount of gold in it so you know you're getting your money's worth. Unfortunately the scam artists give the good sellers a bad name

    Anyone who knows the Cornish mining history will know that Cornish gold came from the Tin Mines, not the rivers. The legend is that the miners use to collect it from their tin sluices in hollowed out quills. There is a small amount of free gold in the streams but it is very rare. You will pan all day and only find a spot or two. Not in every kilo anywhere.

  • @richavic4520
    @richavic4520 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Bummer on the yield.
    Since all we learned was the Cornish River doesn't have much gold, I'm going to share some knowledge. You described one classification result as beach sand. Think about a beach environment. Wind and waves provide most of the continuous energy, tides most of the rest. Channels, base conditions, etc react in their own ways, you can figure those out.
    Consider a place called Pebble Beach. It's covered with pebbles. Why? The high energy environment washes smaller particles away. This is parallel to Shane using screens to size particles of similar size, and in the pan, the stratification, or layering of less dense ones at the top, more dense with depth.
    It's called, hold your breath, sorting.
    It's inverse is called grading.
    A well-sorted sample contains grains of similar size.
    A well-graded sample has a mixture of sizes, and the endpoint sizes, large to small, will further describe.
    Now think about a stream. The outer edge of a curve is the high energy environment. Inside, low.
    Start thinking about where the gold might settle.
    Cheers everyone!

      @@Klesh yep our right, I used to live a few minutes away from the Cornish gold centre, but if you wanted to do tin prospecting, Cornwall is the place. Great content though man, your videos are super cool

      I live in Cornwall we do have gold but very fine. There's a River named redriver it's a direct river from the old crofty mine. It's rich in fine gold

    Just watched you for 1st time. Thanks for the interesting video.
    One thing, the guy the pay dirt was from on eBay was approx 350miles away from Cornwall. Think he took the dirt from near to his actual location than from Cornwall.

    I wouldn't go next door near that company. I've just panned a bag of paydirt from goldwise in Scotland ( I know Shane has reviewed this company) they give a minimum guarantee. I got .255g exactly what was guaranteed. Kleshkrums guaranteed the same and I got .275g plus a pick and some gems. 👍 so as Shane says don't go near companies that don't give a guaranteed amount.

    OMG - you'd have Border Force agents storming your house here in Australia if you tried to ship dirt into the country ;) Massive biosecurity risk.
