My father panned gold in the Black Hills of South Dakota, as a hobby for over 50 years. I bought a similar bucket for him the year he was dying. I knew I was getting hosed, but the look on his face (especially after the larger nuggets) was worth every dime. Because of a stroke, it took him several days to get through the dirt, which was part of the fun because like in the video, the larger nuggets panned out first, and he told stories about similar finds of years ago that came to mind. He panned a LOT of gold over the years, so he knew exactly how these companies operated, but we still had fun and it was great to see a smile on his face and to share a lot of old memories. Thanks for the video. It made my day.

Now purity is another matter- gold can contain other materials within the crystal grid. But none the less, it doesnt affect the appearance much, only its value. In nature , it may be covered in mud, provided it hasnt petrified(it happens, but very rarely), it will still look like gold. What to do when you have a maths exam tomorrow? Watch 29 minutes of a guy sifting through dirt to find gold he knows is in there, absolute perfection.

whoah I love this video. I used to live in Alaska and loved gold panning. Loads of fun! All I've ever found were gold flakes though, no nuggets. I still have them all in an old film container :) I'll probably pass it down to my kids.

Only one way to guarantee two things: More than one ounce in it, but never so much that they miss out by selling the bucket. These are tailings and they add 1.1 ounces, and sell it for the price of 1.6 ounces. The evidence is in the video: No ultra-fine gold dust, only visible sizes, only two particles slipped through the finest sieve. Without adding any ultra-fine dust, they reduce the chances of incompetent customers getting angry after recovering less than an ounce.
One way to recover the money: Dry everything out, mix it up, put the gold back in, and sell it to another sucker for 1500.

I learnt something about filtering and panning. And about how people make money from selling dirt laced with gold. Totally worth it from my end.

I personally wouldn’t buy it but it’s interesting to watch you do all the steps and it is exciting to find those big pieces they might forget to take out before shipping
