That might be one of the most aesthetically pleasing setups I've ever seen. Nicely done! BWT, I stagger my screws: top left, bottom right. ;)
Love it, brother!! The growth, the willingness to share as you grow, that’s what it should always be!
Thank you for watching!
I'm so glad to know I'm not the only one not using all the screws holes in every rack mount!! Thanks Colt!
I use all my screws. I bought a new drill... Had to use it 😂
I'm starting to think no one ever does
Dude! You're really freaking good at this! The building AND the documenting of it! 👏🏾
Oh Colt, Do not forget there is a secret game you can play on the SSL bus plus that gives you a Transient Expander function. It turns the HF button green. You will find out about the game in the manual. Not sure if you knew that.
Absolutely! I’ve read the manual cover to cover. It does so much!
@@ColtCapperrune Cool! I am curious why not normalize the outputs of your studio matrix to your speaker inputs with the patch bay. That will give you 32 ins/outs instead of what appears to be only 16 ins/outs? Or are you running atmos all the time?
That was awesome. Love seeing how everything is connected. And the gear...what a collection!
Toys, Toys, Toys! In the Attic!
Don't drill through floor just get cable covers like at a concert! Then you can change things on the fly and you will change things let's be honest. A studio is an ever evolving entity. Great setup!
Hi Colt, you should have a video about the Lauren Audio, for starters I would be really interested to see how it fits in your workflow, a big chunk of my studio is based on how you setup, especially I love the way how you do a big part of it DIY !! ...
Yet another great one from Colt!
This is gonna be cool. I like geartalk.
Thanks for watching!
@@ColtCapperrune The Warm gear is insanely good for its price. I use the Bus-Comp in my live rig and it's just tons of fun on a Drum bus. Thanks for the tour.
Good work and Great video Colt. 👍🏾
Dude..what a slammin' rammin' set up!! Strait from out of outer space! Mind blown!
Hey Colt, you mentioned that you weren't super happy with the colors of light available in your new power conditioners. It's a crude solution but have you considered getting some gels from your local lighting tech and taping them on to the bottom? If there is a white light setting you should be able to do whatever you want.
I chuckled at "holy exposure"
Love the gear talk! just got in the spl big because of you and it is absolutely magic, absolute must have!
currently eyeing a fusion, spl vitalizer or the future coming mk-609 from Audioscape to pair with it!
Superb setup Colt!! Thanks for all the help over the years, I hope you love the Panthers!
I'm about to watch this video and I am excited. This is exactly what the people demand!
Awesome as always Colt!!! Loving your atmos series. Your channel has pushed me even more into music production and made me commit to it. Now doing music production in college. You’ve taught me so so much about music production. Not just the technical but also business aspects. I now have my own record label and have recurring clients. Thanks so so much. Keep it up 😀
RE: Snake. What if you took say two flooring "boards" and cut through those and subfloor so you have a channel? Glue flooring and plywood together, put a couple hinges on and now you have easy access. Me thinks you're going to put holes through floor joists to get from one end to the other. If you do it, make sure you drill holes not just cut a notch in the top as you will weaken the floor
20:00 I completely agree with you! I also think the WA-1B excels in bass consistency, and I love using it specifically for bass guitar and kick drum compression.
I don't usually use a lot of Warm Audio gear, but the WA-1B and the CX-12 have exceptional qualities that cannot be compared with other gear. I always judge gear based on sound rather than brand, so I am pleased to find that we share the same opinion about the WA-1B.
Bro the thought on the De easer got me..gonna try it out
Audioscape are absolutely incredible. Their stuff just became available in the UK and I got the Spring reverb (brings a tear to your eye), the D Comp, the 1178 and the Opto (La2A). The Opto is nicer sounding than a genuine LA2A to my ears, it really is something special. Big fan here ✌️
Amazing!!
I track with the Opto all the time, it is really amazing.
@@manoonam the attack and release time is nothing short of voodoo. It’s the “goodalizer”
Ya, I absolutely love the Opto. Have their RevF too and use them together all the time…
very impressive !!! not planning to add any controller (avid s1 or ssl uf8) ?
If i can give you a tip about the converter patchbay rack, you should put the patchbay above the converters, you're not gonna touch the converter at all, but pachbay yes so save you some back pain and put them above 😀😀😀
I can only imagine what that last bit of audio sounded like before editing haha. Stellar setup! Can't wait to see you expansion to atmos.
Thanks for the video, Colt, and congrats on your beautiful studio! I've enjoyed following your journey. Wanted to re-up a request for a video on how/why it's nice to have your MTRX connected via Digilink *and* T-bolt 3 simultaneously. Very curious to hear what kinds of advantages having those two interface options provide.
Really love your videos bro !! Thank u very much from France !!
Thank you!
Dude this is amazing!! I would love to see you go in depth on each of them if you will ever have the time for it. Fantastic equipment!
excelente bro me alegro por ti...que viva la buena música!!!!
I was wondering where the STA-Level had gone. Glad to see it's still there! Awesome stuff. :D
Cable ramps might be too big, but you could find some decent rugs that are just the right slim size, gaff them as well as using double sided 3M sticky tape to cover the cables. A plain black carpet cut to spec would work too.
If it works, it might save you some headache, if you decide to scale up to a bigger place down the road.
Holy shit, so great to see you'r living the dream.👍❤️
Would love to see some hybrid mixing with Atmos sometime in the future!! Super excited to see your workflow in action 🙌🏻
Thank you for responding me so fast
Love your work always
Iam inspired by your explanation
Thinking out loud here.. but why not drill some holes in the back of the drawer and put the HDX card in there? Or they produce a lot of heat?
Nice video as always king! Realy interested in the Capirrunes. Forward!
Hola Colt! Amazing Studio! Unreal job you did. What do you think about the Bettermaker equipment? How come you don’t have any? 🙂✌️
good stuff! Love the channel and content. Thanks for sharing!
Only one "game changer" .. I was hoping for more Rum shots. ... LOL.... awesome setup, keep up the great content.
Colt when are you going to make a video on the ASA-6A
clean and perfect. Nice!
Who got excited when they saw the Warm Audio WA-1B?
Fantastic Video! Keep them coming!
Great setup. You should look at the sonnet X-Mac with 1-3 PCI cards. Works great and lets me connect my HDX setup in 3U neat rack
Great, clean setup! Just a heads up….have you looked at the Sonnet XMac Studio chassis? It’s a 3RU chassis that houses a Mac Studio, and also allows internal mounting of 3 PCIE cards, and 8 SSD PCie hard drives, has built in USB ports, as well as an extra tb3 port fir daisy chaining.….and powers everything. Just got one, and am enjoying the streamlined setup.
Super!!! Love It!!!😊😊
Thank you for this. Learned a LOT
Hey Colt! Thanks for all the great content.
How about making a video trying out your different stereo preamps for mixing through? You say you use your signature heiders, but how would the 1073 or your other capis do if you AB?
Cheers from Sweden!
The Neve MBT and the SSL Fusion complement each other so well that Kiive made a plug-in that contains both, the N-Fuse
Great video. Just wondering, surely you don't need to tweak a 1176 much in the sweetspot, just push into it harder or less. Where as your 1073 eq's in the back rack are totally tweakable. Just a thought
Hey Colt. Nice new workflow dude! I bought the SPL Big after your review of it like a year ago. It’s made it on every mix since then. Looks like you run it last in your chain. I have it running next to last in mine. My flow goes from my Neve 5060 Master channel to a Looptrotter SA2RATE, into an LMI Prime, then into the BIG and finally into an SSL G Comp. Should I run the BIG after the compressor? Is there a reason for this? I know there is really no right or wrong, but after seeing your workflow I thought, “Have I been using it wrong?”. Ha ha! I guess I can swap it out on my patch bay and see if there is a difference. I love that thing though. Thanks for the show and tell brother! Keep up the good work man! 🤘🎛️🤘
a year ago i almost bought that 1073. my dad ended up giving me his 737 that he wasnt using which was great lol.
Another great video man. I am still waiting for that Lca2b review 😅
I love this channel....
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Nice gears! :) But no controller? I wonder, did you thought about the UF8 or such at some point?🤔 Thanks!
great video... I'm interested in the Tube-Tech LCA 2B compressor you have, make a video about this device please , very rare, I've never seen it in action
I’ll definitely make a video at some point on it!
Would love to know how you route all the power cables. Do you have multiple conditioners/surges throughout the space? Did you have an electrician come and do any adjustments for the room?
We need @wavywayne and @coltcapperune in the same room. That's my dream vibe. It won't miss.!! @letsgoooo
Keep going
Keep rocking ittt bro
I think your LCA 2B and my Fearn VT7 should have a competition for holy grail compressor😏
I would actually really love that, because that is a ridiculous compressor!
Not one but a PAIR of Coil CA-70S 👏 ❤
I asked on another vid, but didn't hear back. Do you build your Capi stuff youself? Or just buy it prebuilt? I love what Capi are doing, havn't got any of their gear yet as I'm not in the market for it, but it's been on my watch list for a while, and I will for sure build something from them in the future. I'm a big proponant of DIY audio gear, and Capi really got a good thing going on with their DIY stuff.
Nice!!! congrats man. !!!
OMG awesome work! Quick question - what is the difference between the red, black and blue cables on you patch bay?
Best gear porn video I’ve seen in a long time. Very comprehensive as ever. Thanks
Anyone who can figure out how to
run 1M worth of analog/digital studio gear has got my vote!
Just got an MTRX studio sounds incredible ! thank you ! do you use the monitor outs or line outs to connect to your speakers ? are you using a monitor controller ?
Hia Colt. Thanks for all the amazing videos. Quick question, if I may: I'm trying to find the perfect compressor for my cello, sometimes it just needs it for the music, and sometimes some notes just stick out and need a bit of levelling. I've tried all sorts of options: cl-1b, la-2a, Dictator, focusrite is 430 mk 2 and so far VCAs have been the best so far. I want something that is so smooth, I can't hear it working. You seem to be very keen on the LCA 2b. How do you think it would fair on a cello?
Thanks for all the work you do
Would love to hear the SPL Channel One mk3 & AudioScape V-Comp on rap vocals
Great! And what is your electricity bill per month?
Hey Colt- How do you have an open Pro tools session and listen to reference tracks on TH-cam and iTunes through your monitor system? I am upgrading my system and have run into this challenge and figured you would have a great work flow for this (I used run a separate interface just for this) ? Thanks for all your great videos and tutorials.
So in DADman I have two sources set up, one from the OS, one from ProTools. So I do have to click over to DADman in order to switch between them, but it’s just too extra clicks.
@@ColtCapperruneis there another way to do this? I have the hdx card and he iOS and have everything patched to a digital mixer. Is dad man a free software from avid and does it work with all of the avid interfaces or do I need a matrix studio? I am just not familiar with dad man etc. or is there another way to do this ? Thanks. Again!
Very nice, but where's the Portico II?
Love this Colt!
Do you run your mix through the Pres first in mix/master, or is EQ and COMP first and then Pres?
Also, any tips for mixing through Pres with mic level inputs only?
Great gear. Just wondering, I saw 4 stereo image process. SPL Big, MBT, SSL Fusion, SPL vitalizer. Which one you use in mastering. Or sometimes one or other. But probably you can do a Video comparing the 4 Stereo image, and when you use one or the other. Thanks a lot.
Whats your main desk product name? And does it come with an 88 piano tray?
😊😊thank you
Nice overview! What about HW settings recall when needing to recall mixes? Do you change them or are you on set and forget CLA style?
I’ve done a full video on that stuff!
th-cam.com/video/vvJvlFNFVJM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=OkMeE0_iToS8mLdb
Great video ! Always so helpful to see connected workflow , so as regard your mixbus and master print tracks are they analog or computer bounce ? As all your gear is setup as a hardware insert in protooos ? With delay comp. ? Or your running your print track analog back into same rig at 48 ? Is it not Better to have second rig and print at 192 ? Analog
Can we start referring to the back rack as Burt?
Colt, how do you clean your gear, when you buy it used? Sometimes vintage stuff can be dirty af
the settings on your vitalizer is literally the same ones I run
Great minds think alike 😜
So i guess im in the dark, but what made the Warm WA-1B controversial? I get it if Colt dosnt wanna get into it (as said in the video) but i didnt know if someone could give me the skinny on that. Again, not trying to stir an old pot, just genuine curiosity.
So the neve 1073 isn’t your favorite vocal preamp ?
Woop! :) .. what is that CD like thing above the deEsser?
🤘🏻😜🤘🏻
Why not Furman as power conditioners?
Try for IGS products also brother
I think next level
I forget… do you have 32gbs of ram on that Mac Studio or 64gbs? Contemplating and upgrade here soon 😬😬
Why do you only put rack screws on the bottom of your pieces?
Wow it must cost a pretty penny to own all that equipment!!
NICE AMAZING
Love ya Colt but please please please buy a pack of rack bolts. They’re like $15 for what feels like an infinite supply 😂.
There is quite literally no reason to put Top rack screws in lol. They functionally do nothing in a studio.
@@ColtCapperrune😂😂😂 That’s true but it drives me nuts. Though it makes good sense if you’re changing up gear a lot.
what does the Capi Heider v2 brings to the table Colti?
A bit of a random question but how do you turn your speakers on and off in your setup?
IGS is very very very good products
What is the song your using? its dope
I am curious why not normalize the outputs of your studio matrix to your speaker inputs with the patch bay. That will give you 32 ins/outs instead of what appears to be only 16 ins/outs? Or are you running atmos all the time?
The outputs of the MTRX studio are connected directly to the speakers. It’s not something I would ever change, so no reason to put them on the patchbay. Hope that makes sense!
@@ColtCapperrune Yes. I just thought having a couple of extra I/O's might help if you were in a pinch. Going direct to the speakers cuts down any issues with signal flow for sure. I love you new setup!
@@ColtCapperrune WAIT DID you say "PUMPED" in the video? I got to check....haha
🤗🤗❤️🙏
where was the monitoring controller?
I’m still deciding on how I want to handle the monitor control for Atmos, so currently there is no monitor controller
Literally treat me like an idiot please, but why do you love the Tube Tech LCA 2B so much if its so neutral that you have once said it is? if it's so clean why don't use a Fabfilter Pro-C instead?
Very complex routing going on!
Hamilton...Russel :(
Really a shame… Russell earned that one
