The more I listen to Haley and his philosophies I think he is to the tactical firearm community what Bruce Lee in his day was to the martial arts community. I like the humbleness and vision he has. Ill be purchasing some HSP products soon and hopefully one day take one of their classes.

I agree 100% with everything Haley says. You truly are the Bruce Lee of this generation of modern day warriors! That "inner passion" you speak of, is more than just a simple feeling- it is (or should be) the core characteristic of today's first responders, professional military and sheepdogs. It's unconditional love, it's unselfishness, the willingness to protect others, even at the cost of one's own life. That mindset is only found in a small percentage of society and truthfully most people don't understand it. For those of us that live and breath the modern day Samurai mentality, we accept that self improvement requires lifelong discipline, dedication, and determination. In the end, it becomes the very foundation that we base our actions on... it becomes a lifestyle.

+HaleyStrategic That line about compassion being the basis for why we are warriors literally brought me to tears. I have felt lost and confused since the age of 14 (I am now 22) because I want to serve humanity in a tip of the spear capacity and stop bad guys from hurting innocence. However, people around me have always told me I don't really want that because I might be put into a situation were I have to end someone's life. So I chose not to follow my heart and go down that path. I can not sufficiently convey how much this short video impacted me. It saved my soul from living a life of quite desperation. But hearing your words struck a cord deep inside of me. It revealed to me that if I must end a life during my law enforcement/contracting career, it is not out of hatred but out of love and compassion. I believe there is a HUGE difference in "ending" a life and "taking" a life. Ending a life means that the person who's life I ended was intending to take the lives of innocent people or myself. Taking a life is killing someone who is innocent and did not do anything to deserve having their life taken. Someday I hope to meet you in person and thank you! I also need advice on where to start on my journey. I am unable to join the military (I tried when I was 17, I wanted to be a Seal). I have Celiac disease and cannot eat MREs. Therefore, my next option is Law Enforcement. I've been on many ride alongs and have applied but never followed through with 2 departments. My plan is to get 2-5 years of experience as a police officer and then do overseas contracting. I am specifically interested in security contracting for companies that have humanitarian missions or are intervening in crises (such as genocide or ethnic cleansing). Although I obviously dont know which companies do that. Eventually I want to work undercover against child sex trafficking and start rehabilitation orphanages for children who are rescued. If you've read this far I truly appreciate it. I would be honored if you would take the time to give any advice you can to my questions. I know its risky putting my email here haha, but I don't think anyone else will read this far. Feel free to reply here if that is better: Phoenixn.langdon@gmail.com

Good video I agree 100% with Travis on this as it tells me he respects life. He's a good guy and if I have a chance and the funds I'll probably take one of his classes. Although I do not agree with our government leaders deceiving good people into going overseas to kill others under the pretext that it is saving our freedom back in the US. Pat Tillman was a good guy who bought into that propaganda but he found out very soon that he was mislead so they killed him. Per Tillman's family he planned to come back and be an anti-war activist. More war vets are waking up to this especially due to the government hostility to the returning war vets. Lastly, No Iraqi, Taliban, Afghanistani, Pakistani, Syrian, Russian etc.. has ever taken a freedom of choice from me. Since 911 it's been my own government that continually takes my freedoms & rights under the guise of "Protecting Americans". Please Americans continue the awakening!! If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy. James Madison

If you haven't taken a class or sat down and talked with Travis, he is very genuine in the fact that he is there for his students. He wants everyone to take things away from his classes that not only help with firearms/gunfights but things that will help you in everyday life! I have done 2 classes with him and about to take a carbine with him in two weeks and he has helped me to see things I do that need improvement. Not just with guns....but with my everyday life. The iceberg! "Technical, Tactical, Physical" "90, 10, finish flat", "never be satisfied with where you are in life, business, training etc". Thanks Travis!

Great video. I had the pleasure of meeting Travis and his wife at their new location for HSP in Scottsdale AZ. I truly believe this video is exactly how Travis feels. He fought for his brothers/country out of compassion, he would destroy someone breaking into his house out of compassion and love for his family. I believe thats the same reason people train. I know i have stepped up my firearms training out of love and compassion for my loved ones and the life we are able to live.

I'm so glad to finally hear these words in the community.
Too many guys just love the thrill of dominance. Like Travis says, it's about serving other people out of love for fellow man. It should never be about vengeance and hatred. Well said sir.

I've heard motivational speeches from all sorts of people in my life, some lasting 15 minutes, some lasting several hours. Hell, once I went to a conference during high school that was literally 3 days of being spoken to by a motivational speaker. But this here video, this 5 minute and 33 seconds video, spoke to me on a level that no one else has ever come close to, because Travis shares the mentality I do.
Thank you for this video, and thank you for your service, both to this great country we call home and to all of us seeking a deeper understanding of what you have to show us.

AMEN! I'm an emergency medicine physician and a responsibly armed citizen. Compassion is at the core of everything that I have set out and trained to do. I have always called it "minimizing the suffering of others". I seek to minimize suffering from a defensive standpoint through my day job and from an offensive standpoint through training myself to protect innocent people by violent means as well. Glad to hear you say this Travis! I think more people need to understand this mindset.

Travis Haley has always impressed me with his excellent articulation. He is not only a very down to earth guy, but he is extremely intelligent. My guess was he was going to say, Service, but his definition is even better. You have to care about something to put it all on the line, or there is no point. "Nobody cares how much you know, until they know how much you care." I would gladly listen to any wisdom he wished to share because he has no ego, and understands anything of quality is always evolving.
    Keep up the great work!

As a college athlete, I can relate with the way Travis thinks. 90% of my thought process is the WHY of something, and HOW or WHAT I can do to improve a particular movement or a motion. But its also key to not lose the bigger picture by getting involved in the mechanical aspect of things, and I think he demonstrates that well with his line of thinking. A lot of people don't notice it. I have come to respect him more than anybody else in the gun culture, him and Larry Vickers. Very intelligent person.

I knew there was a reason I like you so much. You're one of the good guys Mr. Haley. I train for the same compassionate reasons although I've never heard the words before or at least not so eloquently put. The other reasons are acceptance of personal responsibility. Responsibility of protecting the one's you love, responsibility of owning a firearm, responsibility of being trained to a level that you take into effect the impact of your actions. It's no joke and accountability is everything. Thanks again.

Godspeed brother and may the spirit of Compassion never leave you. Semper Fi

I have never been able to afford more than my basic needs and I've reviewed some of your equipment from friends but I've never been in a place financially that I could afford to purchase your products for myself. Wonderfully presented. I'm just a civilian that's seen violent crimes. A former spouse sexually assaulted, witnessed an armed robbery, my wife threatened in the mail and other violence to friends.
Please look at Cop Block video about Mr. Dale Brown of Detroit. He started a company named "Threat Management Center".
Like Travis, Dale Brown explains that to be willing and able to protect others you have to love and respect those you serve and protect. Love for innocent decent people. Self sacrifice. Job 1 is putting the safety of citizens ahead of even the officer's own safety.
I hope nothing ever goes down around me. But if it does, may God grant me the ability to respond properly and that my aim is true.

A lot of what you said is great. Love/Compassion are the greatest motivators of human behavior. I also get a sense that you have heard of or read the book Start With Why by Simon Sinek, if not I highly recommend it. It points out a lot of common sense thinking for business and for life. Great on you to start with the why instead of like so many that start with the how or the what that they do.
