    Haynes recommend using the master cylinder to pump out the pistons, two at a time. They also say to leave the blue spots alone.

    • @baconbuttties
      @baconbuttties  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Do it the Haynes way then...Quick question, how do you pump out the other two once you have lost brake pressure?

    In addition to my post: 30 Nm are more correct then 40Nm. You do not gain any advantage when tightening up these plugs too hard. And maybe a little tipp in loosening the brakepistons, when you can`t get your hands on a special tool as seen in this video:
    Remove the brake pads, and put a little peace of wood between the 4 brakepistons. In breaking with the handlever, you will have a good control over these pistons, in loosening them when corrosion seems to be a problem. Just leave the brake calipers on the fork, and start massaging those pistons out.

    I'd have been tempted to apply heat with my hot air gun to ease the piston removal.

      I did use a hot air gun and grips on the rear brake calliper on the fazer as it was stuck solid.

    I ordered a set of these seals from the link you provided. I have the same CALIPER as you. Although in the description it says models from 1998 - 2003 and my Yamaha FZS6 is year model 2007. I believe it will fit. Hopefully. Thanks for the video appreciate it!

    Can't you take the caliper off and pump the front brake until pistons pushes out ?

      Some people have said they have managed to get pistons out that way. All depends if any pistons are seized.

    Recently overhauled my Blue spot calipers on my old FZS1000, made the mistake using pattern but so called quality seals, never again, all went together easy, very time consuming cleaning out the crap from the seal grooves tho, Lockheed red brake grease on seals & pistions, all went in smooth as can be, after a month or so, pulled calipers off for a clean & inspection, pistons were tight as fook to push back in, virtually impossible by hand, needed a strong plastic tool, even then it was a struggle...
    Lesson learned, never buy pattern brake seals, they're just crap & made to wrong dimensions.

      "Pattern" is not a term I've heard used in Canada. Is that anything like "generic" or "no-name" aftermarket parts?

    How many Newtonmeters go with the blue plugs ? I tried to measure it out while loosen them up, I guess round about 30-40Nm. But I`m not sure. And maybe it would be a good idea to give them some Loctite screwlock as well.....?! What do you think ?

    • @baconbuttties
      @baconbuttties  ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably doesn't need loctite and I just did them up roughly the same as they were done up as I don't think they need to be super tight.

  • @vikingbiker
    @vikingbiker ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Dont hammer your pistons out of the calliper!!!!! Use the break pressure to pop the pistons out, pistons and calipers aren't designedto be taking a shock like that. don't remove the blue spot cap there is no known torque setting for them, Yamaha's own workshop manuals say do not remove for rebuilds.

    • @baconbuttties
      @baconbuttties  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I removed them and rebuilt them and I bought a tool to do it.

      @@baconbuttties I've certainly done dummer things in the past, but when your putting videos on YT you need to be careful, someone's gonna copy ya and fuck thier calipers up.

    • @baconbuttties
      @baconbuttties  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@vikingbiker If they copy me then they wont because like I keep saying, I successfully refurbished them.
      If the job was a perfect success then how have I damaged them? Please tell me. Also I tapped them with a small hammer and a piece of rubber which did no damage at all as the pistons are made of strong metal not cheese.
