I was psychotic, but multiple psychiatrists refused to give me anti-psychotics (why, though?)

so I spoke to my therapist and she says that psychiatrists don't like to give out anti-psychotics at the hospital because they can't follow-up with you to see how they're working, so they expect people to get prescribed through their family doctor. but what if someone doesn't have a family doctor? that's so messed up, man

When i was in a psychiatric hospital, i could ask for access to medical information and there were tons of papers to read about myself lol, even things like scales of how suicidal they think i were at times and other notes made by doctors. Could you ask for access and maybe find out something? And did you ask every doctor about it? They just wouldn't tell you why? That's seriously weird. I spent almost a year in psych wards, and they were normally communicating with me, and if i asked them about something, they would answer. Very odd and unprofessional, i would say

first of all I'm sorry you had to spend so much time in psych wards. the idea of being locked away in psych wards for almost a year if truly terrifying & I'm so sorry. secondly, to be fair I didn't ask for anti-psychotics. I thought that if I asked for drugs they'd be less likely to give them to me. not sure why I thought that, but I've just always been told not to ask for drugs at a hospital because they'll think you just went there for drugs. idk. they didn't communicate with me, they mostly said nothing & it honestly frustrated me. I suppose I could try asking for my medical information, but honestly I'm scared to see what they wrote about me because I have a feeling it wasn't flattering based on how I was treated. thank you for your comment, I appreciate it!
